Just realized what your real intentions were when you meant “dat ass.” Need to take those pics off facebook because they’re awful…
Looks like I can’t make DBQ this week. So I guess no KOF, Mike. I’m moving in with this guy^ for a while so I’ll see you at Iowa’s next big tournament???
I’m planning on still making it today and next week, but might cut back the traveling to every other week depending on how things go (like if KoF/someGame goes off well or someone else feels like going more often).
Gonna miss driving with Blake.
Like I said before, I’m still in shock that you come up to Dubuque as much as you do. We appreciate it a lot and definitely understand when you don’t make it up here.
Blake - Next tourney I’ll probably see you at will be (if you go) whenever Scott holds a monthly tourney in Cedar Rapids.
UMVC3 results
1st - M.C. (Cap/Thor/Ryu)
2nd - Alex (Viper/Strider/Doom)
3rd - Jackie (Vergil/Dante/Shuma)
4th - Olli (Zero/Spencer/Task)
5th - Corey (Nova/Hulk/Dorm), Adam (Wolvie/Akuma/Doom)
Yes, tonight was run double-elimination, as promised. I felt a lot more pressure playing this way, and I think we’ll stick with that. Teaches you to play smarter to avoid that long hard road out of the hell that is losers side. Also, I haven’t practiced this game pretty much since it came out. There’s no reason why I’m still winning with day 1 crap.
KOFXIII results
1st - M.C. (Mai/King/Leona, Leona/King/Andy)
2nd - Alex (Robert/Ryo/Andy)
3rd - Olli (Duo Lon/Robert/Kensou)
4th - Corey (Raiden/Ralf/Maxima)
5th - Jackie (Duo Lon/Shen/Kim), Adam (don’t remember), Dan George (Iori/Kyo/Vice)
I’d love for people to get into this. And I won’t be surprised when they don’t. There’s a huge training requirement if you don’t want your entire game to be sweep/throw/roll/fireball/uppercut…or don’t want to lose to said tactic.
UMVC3/KOFXIII again next week. UMVC3 is $3, KOFXIII is free. I’ll leave it to a vote to see if people would like to make KOF 1 match for these.
Mike, you just play really smart so until someone goes out and learn some awesome gimmicks/smarter gameplay, the results will stay the same. I see Corey rockin’ that Dorm on anchor. Summon the Chip I guess.
And Kint, you could always pick up Soarin’ and Saros.
I don’t know them except once from your random brawlfest. Are they interested?
Ordered KoFXIII w/weekend delivery to give it a dedicated shot. After Tuesday I’m (probably) willing to loan the copy within the group if anyone doesn’t have it and wants to spend some more time trying it out.
Don’t want to see Soran. I’m sure there might be other people who may want to go in that area, but sorry I have to hog Blake from you guys.
Or maybe I’m not~ <3
There is actually a Korean player who plays your exact team Jackie. He uploads online matches on his youtube all the time.

As the time stamps say, a lot of the first part is him stomping scrubs. After a while he starts playing a top ranked Asian player.](‘http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqRc8w9aqi8’)Take it with a grain of salt though, these guys press a lot of buttons. I’m sure you’ll want to develop your own style at first.
Sweet, thanks for the lead, Blank~
Thought about it later, Soran & Saros are about 30 minutes out of the way so it’s kind of impractical to pick them up unless they’re able to make it to a better rendezvous point. nvm on that.
Congrats Olli and Alex, you actually played it. Now keep it up.
I’m really hoping dubque wasn’t free to Leona.
How many Cedar Rapids area UMVC3 players are there?
Nah. King did most of the work. I didn’t have much time to practice so Leona didn’t do much when she actually did hit people. Instant overhead to qcb+A, however, was pretty awesome every time.
On a good day for a tourney a month ago, maybe 5. Would put that around 1~3 right now (based off what I’ve seen, maybe someone else knows more).
I just picked it up about a month ago. I want some offline practice. Just wanted to see if any of you suckers wanted some free wins.
You should coordinate with Jackie to come to Dubuque some Tuesday night with her. We can play you in MVC3 and you can teach me how to to play MK9.
Problem with that is that I know you guys run later in the night and I gotta get up for work at 5am. Impossible when Dubuque is 1.5 hours away. Maybe some special night I could get up there and play with you guys. Would love to. I’m envious that you have weekly tournaments. Would love to run my Cap team against yours
As far as MK9…I’d be ecstatic if ANYONE played it. haha.
Right now the whole trip goes from 4:30-(5:30-10:30)-12:00. It’d be easy enough to pack up around 9:00 one night so we’d get back at 10:30. (Might want to take up on this soon, because (hopefully) I start working on Feb 13 and will have to take a break from driving.)
If you just want to get some live practice in against anyone, a couple hours on Sunday always works for me.
I agree with Jackie. Also, I have to wake up at 4:00 a.m. every morning for the time being, and I’m the last out of the venue. I’m not saying it’s SMART on my part to do that, but hey, the things we do for the community. I have no problem packing up early, speaking of that, and/or won’t get offended if you guys head out long before 10:00.
Hope you do take her up on that offer. Otherwise, I’m sure I’ll see you at whenever the next monthly is in CR.
Gary - I understand what you’re saying (especially since I play mid and low tier religiously and usually just rely on the simple aspects and match-up knowledge in a game to get me through), but when I watch guys like you and Blake show up and lame my entire team out, well…I don’t know why I’m still winning as much as I am here. Essentially, we have good players here that have a LOT of potential and have proven exactly that in a slew of other games (Alex with Tekken and both Alex and Olli with 3rd Strike, especially). I just want to see them start doing the same in this and I get mildly frustrated when, instead, I hear “Captain America is too cheap” or “Thor’s too good”. I wanna see that match-up knowledge get applied, just like I saw you do the same when you came to town and beat pretty much everyone with little more than knowledge, gunshot and jump+C.
I could also just be salty that Dubuque cheers against me when I play outside competition. It’s to the point now where I just cheer for Jackie if she plays me and then I feel disappointed if I win. Seriously, though, where the hell else does a local T.O. playing low-tier get cheered against?
Damn. My whole next month is so damn ugly. I doubt I would be able to make any trips until Spring. Life is turbulent right now. I guess I’ll just meet you guys at the next monthly.
Personally I think negativity should be completely left out of the FGC. Negativity is contagious. Especially when you’re getting lamed out. I mean, I dont think it’s fun to fight Dante/Vergil/Wesker…or Zero…Christ…but you have to laugh it off shake hands and move on. Support everyone.
Side note: Cap is cheap? How? Thor’s too good?!?!? What? Gimme some damn golf shoes. Impossible to walk in this muck.
