Tournament IS ON for tomorrow. Address is 2300 JFK Rd., Lower Level. (Same building as a Flowerama.) Place is probably going to be a mess, fair warning.

You guys will want to note that once you walk in the front door of this new place you have to walk in the door and down this long flight of metal stairs (unless they changed something around since I’ve been there last). Just wanted to give you a heads up in case you get there and think “wtf, where is this place?”
Sorry to have gone AWOL for a little while; holidays suck. Anyways, monthlies are gonna start up again here soon. 21st of January is most likely the next one, but I’m still waiting to hear from the shop whether that’s good. I should know in the next day or 2.
Pretty sure that’s the same day Joker is starting his monthly.
Ah, yes. Just checked that thread again and it is the 21st. Mine isn’t official, so I’ll see if I can push it back, or maybe even wait until February to start them back up.

Blake - I gotta apologize again to you man, I really didn’t mean to snap at YOU like that, lol. I was getting hella frustrated with myself because I couldn’t concentrate for some reason - it wasn’t due to your commentating, I think it was a mixture of the cold and sleep depravation/hunger. After I blurted that out I was thinking to myself “oh shit, that came out bad!” - so if the situation comes up again, feel free to keep on commentating during my matches, it’s cool.
Oh, and Nick’s team is HELLA annoying - that is really good team synergy right there! wow

Congrats to Gary for staying dominant the entire tournament. I refuse to be salty about how badly I got beat because DAMN it was some smart play the entire way through.
That said, I do have one gripe. Last night, people complained that one pool was stacked and the other (mine) was free. I did something stupid: I caved and made one switch (and that switch put a guy in my pool that knocked me out of the tournament last time I faced him and got rid of one I’ve never lost to, so eat me). Never again. Know this: I’ll seed every Tuesday night tournament from here on out with the results from the previous tournament. I did it last night and a couple people bitched. You want a better spot? Shoulda stepped your game up last week, son. Think the other pool has bad players? Fuck off, everyone’s a killer here and each of them has owned you at least once. Don’t like the way I run my $3 tournaments that I supply extra prizes for out of pocket? Run your goddamned own. But don’t EVER tell me I stacked the deck, especially when I’m playing low-tier in pretty much everything I touch, because that shit doesn’t sit well with me.

Mike, I thought that your pool had more good people in it, but that’s because I play Nick Blake and Jackie more times then not, and they beat me. Sorry to hear that people complain about that sort of thing but I’d rather be in a stacked pool and play good people than cruise through and then have to play someone good. More experience that way.
Dunno when my next break will be but see ya then, unless you go to Joker’s that is.

Pools were balanced imo, although I guess it’s always greener on the other side.
I’m gonna go old man on you all for a second. I just wanna say I’m glad to see the consistent tourneys, weeklies, monthiles etc. going on here in Iowa. With the release of the EVO lineup ive been seeing some serious whining about certain games not being supported, and shit like that drives me nuts. So far Iowa is the opposite, ya’ll support the games you like and that shit needs to keep on happening because that’s what this is all about.
The way DBQ runs monthlies, the way Charlie always backs ST, the way I try to continue keeping GG relevant, and the effort murph puts into Mystery tourneys are all prime of examples of how you make games stronger in your area. You do a little work and bring support in the form of your ass in a car that’s going to a tourney.
Basically, props Iowa, you are doing it right, and I hope it keeps being that way.
That BlazBlue not at Evo thread is effing rofl-potamus. Maybe I should start a thread about how sad I am that Tech Romancer didn’t get a spot this year. 
I thought it was weird not having a Tekken. I’m not at all surprised, but correct me if I’m wrong, this is the first time without a 3d Tekken. I guess they’re banking on SC being able to bring all the 3d kids out. Honestly, EVO is big enough and has enough support that running smaller tournaments should not be a huge logistical issue. For anyone who went last year, you know what I’m talking about. How many empty, unused stations were there ALL OVER THE PLACE? Oh well, it is what it is.
Anyways, I’m waiting to hear back from the shop but the 28th looks good for the next monthly; I didn’t see anything else going on that weekend. As soon as I get the green light I’ll post it up all official like.
