I about got excited for another local until I saw you’re about an hour away. 
Regardless, you should stop up to Dubuque some Tuesday for our weekly MVC3 tourney. Or, if you don’t play that, go to Cedar Rapids for one of the monthlies there.
And I’m proud to say the mothlies are getting pretty big. 
Dubuque is a lot closer than Cedar Rapids… What day do you guys jam?
Also details on the monthly? I couldn’t commit every month but I could make it out maybe every other

Well, I wanna say this is the 8th or so one I’ve thrown. We were holding steady at about 10, then Marvel came out and it’s been slowly growing each time. Our last monthly definitely saw the biggest jump, going from 21 people in May to 30 in June. I think it helps that we keep adding games. I’m excited to see what happens once the tag games start dropping.
Cool, it definitely sounds fun and I need to get out.

Two, the next Iowa monthly needs a regional MVC3 3v3. DBQ v Cedar Rapids v Iowa City v Des Moines v Ames. Who’s in?
And three…it’s been a little over two years. I think it’s time to start planning DBQ BBQ 6. Anyone agree?

Great ideas, Mike. I think a team event of some kind would definitely add to the hype. Although I think it would be better if it was a 5v5 Central vs East or a 2v2 team tournament.
I got 5th in AE this weekend. Lost to the guy that got 1st and the Gief that got 3rd. I had an opportunity to win at the end vs Gief but guessed wrong at the end (last round, last game, last health). Went 4-2.
In Marvel, we all underperformed. I lost my second round to the guy that ultimately got 2nd. He had a high damage team and not much else. Kind of hard to explain, but I could have easily won-- oh well, he’s not bad and it’s MARVEL. Other events like Jay losing his first round to Phoenix and Joker as well losing his second round match made it so I had to play Jay immediately in loser’s and similarly Joker had to play Kuares. Jay eliminated me and Joker did the same to Gary. I was the most pissed I’ve ever been after losing, but we put ourselves in that situation so we can’t really complain.
Joker ended up placing 7th. Jay and Joker could have and for all intents and purposes should have done better, but classicly dropped their combos when it mattered.
The team tourny sounds fine with me, although I will say that I would like it to wait until all the regular tournies (or at least the big ones, ie Marvel and SF) are done. Same with sign-ups, unless you’re going to have someone else take care of that, then I don’t care when you take people’s money lol
Dear Des Moines:
The gf and I will be flying out to Vegas on July 28. We need to be at the airport around 430. Is there anyone who would be able to give us a ride to the airport and let us stash our car at their place? If not, no huge deal; just trying to make things simple for us.

P.S. I’ve got a PS3 disk of AE so we can use that for tourni if we need to.
I’d love to but I’ll already be in Vegas by that time, I fly out on Wednesday instead of Thursday.
Speaking of, I finally got to play Yun last night. He’s fun as hell.
Blake - 2v2 is a good idea, but has less of that regional hype to it. 5v5 can work, but I dunno where the line would be. CR/IC/DBQ vs DM/Ames? Only reason I want 3v3 is so that each region is represented. Probably can easily get 3 DBQ players, 3 Des Moines players, 3 Ames players, 3 Cedar Rapids players (I effing hope so anyway, considering the location ), and…not sure who all is Iowa City besides you, but 3 there as well.
I’d also be down for AE teams, but I’m the only person in Dubuque that plays it, and I don’t think Claw can take a team tourney by himself. 
Speaking of Dubuque, no tourney last night. Only 4 people. Lots of casual matches, though. And large amounts of Melee.
