Doing my best to talk with the venue about bumping the date for my tourney to a later time. My contact just needs to meet with the manager to get approval but she’s super busy with other scheduling other events. Other than that, thinking of replacing one of the PS2 games with MK to get more local interest, have no idea if venue will accept though.
Hey guys - hella fun tournament we had Saturday! Good to see IA has a fighting game scene, 20 people is the most any fighter has ever pulled in IA I think! I was really impressed at the level a bunch of you were playing at, I feel hella scrubby! I’m scared of KL’RT and Taskmaster, for sure - OUCH.
I also like the $10 entry with 5 places being paid out, that’s pretty cool.
I thought paying top 6 worked well, too. BZ liked having us there, so if that place is all right with everyone, we can keep having it there and having it on Saturdays.
Well my social life has died for the next few months at least (not that it was ever really there to begin with) Wyatt was born on may 11 at 4:42 am. On top of that i’m moving to Prarie city in a few weeks so this’ll be a fun couple of months for me. I’ll still be honing my skills in games very few play, and maybe some marvel. Catch you all later iowa

Whenever I finally get a car I’ll have to come visit you, I just checked and it’s about a 40 minute drive from Des Moines to Prarie City.
I also find it ironic that Murph moves closer to Des Moines and you move farther away.

Hey congrats, Dracula_X!!! My wife and I are expecting a boy in September - our sons could be little fighting game buddies, playin’ “Guilty Gear XXXXX: Gnar Kill” or some shit, lol. Hope all is well man!
Oh, Mike - what I meant was that 20 people is probably the biggest fighting game community Iowa has ever had, I didn’t mean tournament-wise, lol - meant community-wise. If I was talking about tournaments then Extravaganzas have that beat HELLA, lol.
Iowa’s Tekken scene probably had around 15~20 at its prime, less for SC I’d say. Iowa’s street fighter scene never got above 10~15 I bet. Guilty Gear probably about 5 players in IA in its prime… - and smash is not a fighting game, sorry.
Next tourny I’ll bring one of my monitors for sure and I’ll have a ps3 to bring also. (hopefully my second stick so we can have that there too). It was really fun playing against you guys and thanks for all the tips (c.viper/skrull specifically).

Only three days remain to pre-register for Ultimate Fighting Game Tournament 7, being held May 27th through 29th in Chicago IL. Those that pre-register will save money, and will have early access to their pool assignments! Thats right, early next week, you’ll be able to check your pool assignments online to see what time you play, who is in your pool, and to make sure that everything was entered correctly on our end (no missing games, no overlapping pools).
