Iowa: Maize of Defeat

I’ve got something going, literally, every weekend in May. Pewp.

No tourney last night due to half the people not knowing how to play. Wasn’t the hugest fan of that reason, so next week I accept no excuses. Skullgirls first, KOF after, just like it shoulda been.

Also, unless it’s Tech Romancer, there’s no game I should go 50-1 in after only putting 2 hours of play and about 30 minutes of research into.

Yeah, I live in Grimes - so it sounds good to me. When are you free or when is good for you?

I’ve had a strong interest in it lately. I’m subscribed to get the a-cho videos in my YouTube sub box, and the only ones I’ve found entertaining in the last few months or so are for GG. It’s nice to see new match videos coming from Japan even now. Must be due in part to the arcade release Accent Core Plus is getting over there soon.

Heading from Wisconsin down to Davenport for business in May. Anything going on May 7th or 8th? Always enjoy meeting new players.

Anyone in the Des Moines area that dual mods sticks? I got a Madcatz SF x Tekken Stick for PS3 and was hoping to dual mod it. I dont know much about the process but im interested if anyone around here could do it

i do these things in my free time. message me if you’re interested.

Bad news and good news (sort of).

Bad news: My man at the shop is apparently not liking to get back to me for whatever reason. That coupled with the fact that they changed my schedule this week to a Tuesday through Saturday schedule means likely no May monthly. This weekend is too soon, and getting next Saturday off is no guarantee (presuming we could have the shop that weekend).

Good news: I’ve already got the June monthly settled… but I’m gonna mix things up a little bit. Some buddies of ours run a little LAN thing every year called fragfinity. It’s gonna be in Tiffin the weekend of the 22nd. It’s mostly computer stuff, but they have a console room that’s been opened up to us. When I hammer out the exact details of when I want to run the tournaments, I’ll post that up, but for more on the event, here’s their fb page:

https://www.facebook.com/events/342111769177066/

It’s a free event, so there won’t be any venue fee for this one. Plus, they do concessions and whatnot. It’s mostly computer games they do, but they’ve done some console stuff in the past. Regardless, we get a whole room to ourselves, which is boss. And, I think Tiffin is closer than CR for most peeps.

Anywho, check out the fb page and I’ll get more info posted up here shortly.

@xiang maybe you should post this one to other midwest fgcs.

I was planning on making a thread once I get some concrete details hashed out. I might try to spread the word a little, my only concern right now is that I’m not 100% sure how big the room we get is, exactly. Not that I think people would be showing up in droves, but I don’t want to hype it up and then end up having to cram everyone into a closet-sized space.

I should be alright to head on down to this one. Hopefully a restaurant will be visited afterward, because that’s quickly becoming my favorite part of these events.

Well, for all intents and purposes, Tiffin is part of IC, so you have access to all of their eateries. They do concessions at this event, too, so you shouldn’t be without.

Oh, I’m not worried about food during the event. I just want food AFTER the event. Your tournament day isn’t complete until you witness Joker destroy like 5 baskets of steak fries.

So earlier tonight I was watching the KVO stream, and I decided to check out TRB just to see what game was currently being streamed. In stream chat I see none other than Mr. premium supporter of level up Latino_link. Here is what I saw him say in chat:

Latino_link: bible black BURRRRRR
Latino_link: chicks with dicks BURRRRRRRR

Yep. The internet is a small place. Kind of.

This is what happens when one of my favorite streams is ramnation…

Yo guys.

MAXOUT thread is up for May 19th, for interested parties.

Love that we are mixing it up with Clint and all those PC boys. I was actually planning on attending FF anyway so this is awesome. Venue is literally 7 minutes from my house.

Re: FFX. So…if we have a console room for, like, the whole day (or longer?)…should we run just a literal fuckton of stuff, attendance be damned? 4 person MK9 round robin tourney? Who gives a shit, we got time. 2 person first-to-ten in 3rd Strike? As long as they promise not to both play Chun, possible. :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s pretty much what I was thinking about doing. I was planning on listing it up with the main stuff that will get people’s attention (SF, SC, KoF, MvC, etc.) with a big asterisk that we can play anything and everything. The only thing I still need to clear up is how much room we have. We’ve been given the one room for sure, but in the off-chance that we would get a really big turnout, I want to see if we could have access to the adjacent rooms. It is a school, so I would think that should be OK.

Lastly, something that could turn out to be hugely important: They get sponsors for these things, and they hook them up with merchandise. They’re going to add our expected attendance to theirs and see if they can’t get something for us. It may not be console related, but they’re going to see what they can do. It wouldn’t be money, but merch is still fucking sweet, if you ask me, so start getting hype for this and hopefully I can post this up in the next few days.

All right, just got that event posted. Check it out!

All hail Warren Sapporris, for he helped me get a new World Record on my Castlevania Bloodlines speedrun tonight!

Ok back to never posting.
