Introducing ~JAPANESE MUSIC!

Nice, you know what’s up on the post-rock section. Spangle call Lilli line and Miaou are baller.

You’re missing school food punishment though, and they’re fucking amazing. Don’t much care that they “sold out” since their first full CD (amp-reflection) is awesome. Particularly, the tracks goodblue and kakenukeru. Although riff-rain and air feel, color swim are both incredible mini-albums (and my favorites).

If this thread had not had Spangle call Lilli line in it, I would be sorely disappointed because Purple is a must listen. Well, their whole discography is, but especially Purple.

Strange thing about them is that Kana Otsubo (the lead singer and writer) almost always writes their songs in English, then translates them into Japanese instead of the other way around.

Bloodthirsty Butchers are an indie rock type band that have been around for a while. Featuring former members of Number Girl.

I think Keikaku’s profile of them is a perfect way to describe them.

Keikaku : Profiles : bloodthirsty butchers

reported for flame baiting/trolling/trying to start obvious shit.

lol what are you, like 12?

its a legitimate opinion backed up with arguments and your only response is to report?

Grow up, kid.

If you like Miaou you might like Hyakkei and Euphoria. I’ll post vids of them next. Miaou too I suppose.

shinichi osawa’s star guitar and our song.

Koo, thx man. Hyakkei you don’t need to worry 'bout I already know about em. I got their two most recent albums. I’ll prolly put them up later. Still giving your list a run through. Please find some euphoria, their name makes them overly difficult to find on youtube.

HELL YES. I love funk. I cannot BELIEVE I forgot about Super Butter Dog. I must be retarded, thanks!

My bad. must’ve missed it

5 pages and nobody mentioned Do As Infinity. You should all be ashamed.

Not trying to offend, but I’m not going to lie, they are an extremely derivative Japanese pop-rock group. That is why they haven’t been posted.

I have their album Break Of Dawn, but I couldn’t really get into it. However, I really like this song. It gets me pumped.

@Gammon You mentioned you really love funk? Have you heard Mountain Mocha Kilimanjaro? They’re an instrumental funk band.

I’m just messing around dude. I like D.A.I alot some I’m biased. Good job on the thread.

Does the same to me  Try and check out there other stuff I find they mostly have good songs scattered amongst all their albums rather than 1 single great one. The “Need Your Love” was a good one though imo

They did a remix of a DnB song which is superb ()
And the Drum n Bass artist is Japanese too, I guess you can add that there.
I think they do Nu-Jazz, I could be wrong, I can’t tell the different types. They’re really chill.

Glad to See J.A.M on the List.
I recommend anyone to listen to Soil & “PIMP” sessions. Some of their stuff is hard to get into for me though… >.<

their live album, Do the Live was fantastic

Thanks!!

More funk/jazz (Japanese or not recommendations are welcome to me!)

Kashiwa Daisuke - electronic/post-rock (I don’t know what you would call this kinda music tbh)

Do As Infinity. Top-tier.

That one Makoto song is SICK. He is primarily D&B tho. I’ll go ahead and add tho’ I’m not so keen on D&B.

I would put Kyoto Jazz Massive on there but they pale in comparison to so many other nu-jazz or electronic jazz groups. Also they have left a very bad taste in my mouth since they literally stole Azymuth’s “Dear Mr. Limmertz” and renamed it “Substream”. They are a bunch of hacks IMO, cuz that is their only truly interesting song.

An incredible song, btw. I do like Kyoto’s version better, but it’s damn near the EXACT song minus a house beat, synth, and a couple minor changes. Considering the bass is what makes the song, it’s pretty shameful.
