While some of what you’re saying is true to an extent. DJ Deckstream often plays the piano in his work and m-flo’s production is usually pretty great, featuring programmed routines that borderline analog emotive qualities. In contrast, yes hip-hop is lazy on average, but there is a lot to enjoy in it. Despite the lack of having to execute techniques on a real instrument, there is a lot of skill, music theory, and digital wankery that goes into good hip-hop. Do you have any artists of personal preference, apart from hip-hop of course, lol.
HA, you know I was afraid of that too. The second I saw L’Arc en Ciel posted (they’re not bad…), I was like OHHHHHHhhhh shit, here we go.
if he plays the piano, then he has my respect, even if his music isnt necessarily good (assuming its not just something hes doing for cash).
i listen to a lot of things… but as far as japanese music goes? I dont really know any groups besides Perfume (LOOOOLz chocolate disco bitchez, i only know of them by accident), X Japan and Malice Mizer
Japan’s music is definitely different from america’s mainstream. I know it’s an obvious thing to say but the sensation and love that they put in their music is something else.
school food punishment is the ultimate sellout band but hey that’s what happens when you go major.
i wish they still sounded good like they did when they put out riff rain and SCHOOL FOOD IS GOOD FOOD
there still pretty original imo tho and make good music. I mean people said Dir en grey sold out and they’ve made some of their illest shit lately. Still they did have a better sound on their first ep, like some electronic shoegaze shit.
I was always more of a fan of the melodic shit they do than the metal tip they’ve been on as of late but some of those are ill too like saku, C, vinushka. I think its a toss up between withering to death and vinushka as their best. Everything else is way to inconsistent evne tho they have some great songs on them. Actually Gauze was pretty consistent too…
I still think Luna Sea is the greatest japanese band ever tho. Sugizo inspires me as a guitarist.
See if you can handle how truly intense this is. This is proof that if you put some Japanese folk in front of a green screen, they go fucking ape shit!
