The have been surpassing Capcom’s attempts for more than 10 years now and have taken the mechanical advancement torch that Capcom (and SNK too I guess) used to carry in the 90s.

A lot of them lack high appeal. Tekken being the exception, but that may as well be a complete different genre.

What was wrong with EX3? Also, I wouldn’t count MvC1 as a headliner for DC the Naomi games were.

I’m for a completely new IP. Darkstalkers isn’t a new IP, neither is Capcom vs. SNK.

Capcom should make a new franchise to live their excessive DLC, random gimmick comeback mechanic, & “pay for the edge in battle” fantasies. Attempt to ‘COD’ fighting games. Shoot for the casuals with no guilt.

Then leave Street Fighter to the people that’s willing to learn how to play Street Fighter. Capcom needs to understand it’ll never be '93 again, make SF for the ppl that are still here, and let new players find their way to it if they choose. They’ll break 1.5+ million copies each time.

Unlikely. I would expect another VS game before a new IP. Reasons for that are pretty simple:

A new IP is risky. Doesn’t have name brand recognition.

You can argue that they have too many IP’s on the horizon competing with each other: Strekken, Marvel, SF4, and eventually DarkStalkers. And that’s not considering the PSN/XBLA HD re-releases.

I’m not going to argue with you.

More importantly, why wait for capcom to make new ip when you can just play other games. There are a lot of really good ones out there, it just takes effort to get into them.

SFIV biggest part of Evo? What a depressing thought. I can remember the videos of Gian systematically dismantling the entire upper level of America’s Super Turbo scene, KSK literally lookin’ fly on 3s, and Chibita controlling VF4 like he was Keanu in The Matrix.

I would like this the most.
But if it would come to a new IP (and it won’t, since they can still earn easy money by releasing HD remakes) … I would love to see a pure Marvel fighter made by Capcom, just the way NRS is doing a DC fighter now.
I always liked Marvel characters / stories / everything more and I think that the roster would have far more potential. It would also sell damn good.

You know, I’ve been hearing Capcom and SNK both say “no” to CvS3.
That’s fine, but how about this novel fucking idea - a non-cross over game based on CvS2?
In other words, a ratio / groove style, 2D fighter (Notice, I didn’t say 2.5D, I want sprites you fucking lazy bastards) with characters from Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, MEGAMAN, Bionic Commando, Captain Commando, Strider, Resident Evil, GIGA WING?, Cyberbots, etc… Just a big Capcom fighting game, a la King of Fighters is to AoF, WH, SamSho, Fatal Fury, etc…

And don’t let YoNo touch it, or we’ll get Capcom Fighting Evolution 2… and with comeback mechanics.
