Instant Air Jaguar Kick

infact would this not give you an ex ajk? or does the plink of the hk eat up the doube kick input?

Guys I don’t use Adon, I was only in the lab trying things out with him. i was lookin for the best way to do instant jag kicks, when i accidently stumpled across it myself. Inputs are as follows (1P Side) db,d,df,d,db+k. You can actually cut off df. The way I done it was db,d,db+k.

This thread is about instant air Jag Kicks, what you posted is the universal shortcut for DPs in this game.

You plink with a punch button, read a few pages back.

I’ve done that too. So its just a regular ground JK and not an IAJK?

hmm i know it’s a shortcut for dps but I thought that was a instant j kick. My bad, so what am I doing then? are they just regular jag kicks?

yeah, those would be regular jaguar kick. If you’re not sure which you’re pulling off, Adon will yell “Jaguar kick” if it’s a ground jaguar kick, and he’ll just yell “waooo” or something if you do it in the air.

I liken the noise to achoo, or choo if its japanese

Basically just issues with consistency. I have a lot of times when I’ll just whiff jumping forward LK instead of a IAJ.

Gotta have a serious training room day with this but I keep taking it to matches cus Adon’s so fun to use lol.

most i’ve done in a row now is 14, light kick then medium kick tkJK back to back pattern

only way I get this consistently is if I do an almost full circle. took me a while to get it down low, but now I believe I can do them pretty close to as low as possible.
I still find I whiff some, but I think even players with 20k bp like Charysmasoto (not sure on spelling) Gamerbee, and that sometimes mess them up. Either that or they like jumping and doing kicks insanely early :stuck_out_tongue:

I find it almost impossible to tk them myself. Though on the occasions that I do get them out, its like 1 in 10

hmm it’s really easy…just frame stuff it if your not used to it at the beginning with something and then regular jump into quick qcb.

I’ve found it helps to play with other characters that have a move with the same input. I mix up my play time with Adon, Cody, Dan, Fei, and Makoto. Between Adon, Dan, and Mak I use that same motion in a wide variety of situations and I use it quite often. This helps with getting past that point when you have to actually think about it to do it, makes it second nature and natural. You can fire it off without thinking.

I read the entire thread.

Part of the problem with discussing finesse techniques in ssf4 is the monitor. iAJK/tk jk are hard enough with a perfect crt, but even going back and forth from xbox/ps3 can mess up your timings. Lets not even mention HDTVs, the enemy of precision gaming. Add to that the confusion that new people have with regular jk and ajk and you have a recipe for disaster.

Many of the Adon threads suck, and the matchup sticky is horrible, with tons of empty spoiler boxes. There’s a lot of good and varied explanations of iajk/tk jk in here, and it would be a waste to not identify and repost the best bits of info in here.

The best advice I can give is to watch Adon. Don’t press the kick button UNTIL you see the character’s feet leave the floor. If you are getting a jumping kick instead of TK JK you’re pressing it too early.

It’s slightly more delayed in comparison to Cammy’s cannon spike. Do the QCB motion, Just watch Adon’s feet and when he leaves the floor, you hit the kick button.

Hope that helps

Does any one else find it easier to execute an IAJ With a Bat top? tried it out and was awesome.

I started using Adon, today. and I found that by applying Desk’s method for doing a true standing 720 in SF4, one can do a Insta Air 8214 motion Jaguar Kick. the input looks like this

:d:-:u:-:qcb: + k

you use the crouching frames to buffer up and by the time you are finised with qcb you are doing it at the first possible frame. you have to be fast with it, but its much more consistent than :u:-:qcb: or :qcb:-:u: imo. Just a thought though, as I only saw it mentioned once in the first page, and I didn’t see it mention after that. I have been able to hit crouching Gen, Blanka, Chun, Focusing Honda and Sakura. I guess the draw back to this though is perhaps the extra frame or two that one uses to crouch.

Mhh my execution sucks, but i never got it out as good as with your method. Tried it a few times in training mode and got it out like 6/10 times now … Maybe that can get better with some practice. I did qcb <slight delay> u/f + k before and had much less success.

Edit: Seems to be really good. Landing cr.mp->RJ after is rather easy too.

Yeah, I brought this up a few months ago and got attacked…I even offered to help clean up the thread and no one took me up on it. So…good luck!
