hey bomberman,
I did this mod, works great, but I made the wires too short by accident.
Now I’m gonna do another stick and as I wait for the parts to come in…
i want to know how long you made the wires from the 30 AWG.
I want it to look as neat as yours by putting it to the side
Hey guys all i want to do is make my PS3 TE stick work for cube and ps2. the MC cthulhu + extention cords is all i need right? does the board come with instructions? ive done pcb work before i just wanted to know if it made things effortless (outside of soldering)
Where is the diagram for the gamecube cable installation on the Cthulu, been looking forever and cant find it, search engine breaks my balls as well? Also to clarify im not using the RJ-45 but going direct onto the Cthulu.
In this case could I just install all applicable wires from the LEDs and the hex inverter to the Cthulhu or would I need to also run them to the SE 360 PCB?
Or if someone has already done this (I am sure they have) then please post a pic or diagram if you have one.
whoa whoa… i just remembered i have the multiconsole cthulhu and i only thought about PC/PS3/360. I totally forgot about gamecube! anyone have pics of how the gamecube wire would look sticking out if I added it to my 360 stick?
I might look gay with a usb wire and a gamecube wire sticking out… but hey… i’m all for convenience.
and I can’t seem to find any of these gamecube wires for sale :amazed:
I see in the picture you had your wires for the buttons coming directly from the pcb. for my TE mod i had the wires coming from the underside of the makeshift terminal strip ( the board all the color corded button wires plug into. For the most part everything runs smoothly but sometimes on the PC start and select buttons will spaz out and not act like normal. Sometimes theyll stay lit etc. is soldering to the terminal strip instead a bad idea?
^ It shouldn’t make any difference if you clearly connect points at the terminal strip or the motherboard as it’s all sending the same data.
There have been numerous problems reported with 360 TE/SE motherboards, but apparently in the US you can get replacement boards from Mad Catz if you contact them directly? Check to make sure the ‘start’ & ‘select’ are wired correctly first to make sure nothing could be tripping them out.
Yeah, some of those wires are very long. If I had to do it again, I might just run them between the stick and the X and A buttons instead of along the outside of the case.
I updated the guide a little to reflect the different things you might need to do when installing a presassembled Cthulhu or MC Cthulhu instead of an unassembled one. If I missed anything, please let me know.
The four main diagrams all show the Imp connected under the USB jack still.
You might also want to link to LizardLick or GamingNow.net, who both sell MC’s far cheaper than I personally do.
EDIT: Hey Bomberman; did you want to order 2 of the upgrades with the MC? One MC and one upgrade is less than you paid for.
Was looking at the diagram for installing the gamecube extension cord. But I have dark purple one. How do i figure out what wires i need to solder and what wires i just need to toss away. I have red and blue ones but no yellow like the diagram shows just a bright green one.
Ive been looking at the diagram to solder my wires but I dont understand the continuity part. What will that tell me about my wires I dont know much about electricity
The instructables should make it clear that you cannot count on the colors. You need to use a multimeter to figure out which pins on the end that plugs into the console are connected to what wires on the end you’ll solder to the MC.
im kind of dumb with a multi meter. How does it tell which wire is the ground and which wires i need to solder. Im not even sure how to work the multimeter at all.
