you’re gonna pay some whores to connect the imp board for you?? Damn you must be loaded! :bgrin:
lol, your’re asking if you can scavenge parts from your SE to use in the dual mod? I guess you could cut some wires out of it and reuse them, but it sounds like it would make for a messy mod, and then make your SE stick worthless… why not just sell it to finance buying the soldering equipment and other resources you’ll need?
You could definitely use a PS3 SE PCB instead of a Cthulhu, but like Manman says, it’s not a great investment since the SE stick probably cost ya $70 or so and Cthulhus are much cheaper.
Still, it would look cool inside!
X Sword, if you do that, please sell me the Turbo/Home panel from your PS3 stick.
Finally got another one done, I guess the cthulhu I had shorted out, so I put a new one in there and wallah! Workage!
Any tips on putting the 4 small frayed wires from the USB cable into the imp board? That seems my biggest time consumer and where most of my problems tend to lie. I can’t seem to keep them in place, or even keep them in for that matter.
Just a quick question. I’ve hooked up a Cthulhu/Madcatz360/Imp wired to an RJ-45 combination, and as far as I’m aware, all wires connect their intended contact points. However, while the Cthulhu’s PS3 and PS2 functionality works perfectly, the 360 portion has given me varied results. In SFIV, all kick buttons did not work, except for a laggy all-kick macro. In HDR, both LK and MK worked, but I had to negative-edge HK in order to get it to come out. I’ve also hooked it up to my PC, and I believe it’s working fine (Another question: Trigger buttons are measured with the Z-Axis? This doesn’t seem right…).
So, my questions are, what’s wrong, and am I able to fix it? I have a hunch that the trigger buttons are causing this problem, but I haven’t the slightest on how to correct it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Quote for truth. But not too much, or else you won’t be able to fit the wires into the holes.
I am able to find 30 AWG wires however I am unable to find the right wire stripper for this project. Would any other wire be okay or does it have to be 30 AWG?
I am trying to install an MC Cthulhu and Imp board into it.
I should note that the actual wire stripper I use isn’t labeled as supporting 30 AWG, but it can strip that size fine. So you might try buying a stripper from a retail store, seeing if it’ll work on the wire, and returning it if it doesn’t work.
BTW I may postpone the guide’s redesign until the new ChImp boards are complete. Sounds like they will be ready in a few weeks.
I have a PC/PS3-only Cthulhu and IMP in a TE stick. The Cthulhu mode functions properly with all joystick/buttons working as shown on PC. However, when I attempt to start the stick in 360 mode I get unrecognized usb device error. I do not know where to go from here, as I have double checked my data wires for continuity and the board is powered (5Volts shown on multimeter). When I plug it in to the computer, the XBOX guide button flashes once and then stays lit until the computer makes the usb device recognition sound, and then immediately turns off as the unrecognized usb device notification appears.
In short: wires are in right spots, board is powered, but my madcatz board won’t work. Any ideas?
i find it hard to believe that the wire’s are in the right spot cos otherwise it will work
If the cthuhlu works fine, then you have a problem with you data lines, check that the #2/#1 +/- data wire on the imp corresponds with the +/- points on the 360.
I used the guide for the 1st time aswell, as far as images and explanations everything is fine, no need to say that again lol
anyways im having a small problem though, after we soldered everything i connected it to my PC for a test and it detects immediately the Cthulu PS3/PC but when i connect it holding the guide button it wont detect as the madcatz SF4 joystick but as cthulu PS3 again…
so basically the 360 function doesnt work…i read through the thread but couldnt find a solution any ideas guys?
edit: im using an madcatz SF4 SE stick + PS3 only cthulu for this mod…
I am 100% certain the lines are not switched. I have checked, double checked, triple checked etc.
My multimeter shows continuity between the Madcatz D+ and IMP 1D+, and the Madcatz D- and the IMP 1D-.
Sounds like you wired your imp kit incorrectly. Double check your IMP wiring. If the Imp wiring is correct, it could be that your SE PCB Vcc/D+/D-/Gnd points aren’t properly connected.
Which guide did you use? The original method with Faux’s diagram, or the newer method from Bomberman ie. the diagram from bomberman?
if you used the latter, you need to swith the top switches from DP, to RS for the 360 to be recognised, then back to DP once its recognised and powered on.
Sorry then, then I’m not sure if that’s the case.
The only time i’ve ever had that problem is when the data lines have been switched around, maybe bomberman or toodles will be able to help you out more.
