Injustice: Gods Among Us; New Game by NetherRealm Studios

The worse part about Superman to me is that Wonder Woman is a Demigod yet Superman is suppose to be stronger than her in the New 52, WHAT???

She’s the daughter of fucking ZEUS. He’s a regular alien. WHY would he be so much stronger? The New 52 was THE Perfect chance to balance Supes out and get rid of his dumber powers (ice breath? Moving planets? Why?) and they completely whiffed on it.

More people can relate to Thor or the Hulk than Superman. Think about that…

Possibly? Possibly? How about you erase that “possibly” from that sentence?

This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:

Tower of Babel.
Nuff said.

Superman does not need to be toned down, the premise of his character is to essentially be a "godlike"alien entity. He doesn’t have to be the jobbing weakling he was in JLU to be relatable of appealing…it’s very possible for a godlike being to have conflict and daily struggles. It’s simply the lack of creativity and effort from writers who would rather just the lazy route and need him…basically the capcom method of balancing.

Superman isn’t suppose to be a average guy…he is supposed to be a OP godlike hero.

Just because he gets toned down doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be powerful and yes he does need to be nerfed a bit. Other characters like Hulk at least have limitations and inner demons they struggle with but Supes life is pretty awesome, he has a power for every situation normally and his personal problems akin to melodrama.

Of course he can be made better, my point was the reasons I stated is why he’s not relatable to many now.

I don’t think he needs a nerf, if anything I think they should bring him back to his PC days. I think the ability to write for him in a way that is engaging is possible, but sadly most writers just get lazy and don’t even try with him…I also think he works best as a supporting character.

lol @ arguing about realism and comics.

About the game, after the preview at EVO I’m a little more optimistic. It really doesn’t look like a clunky turd, unlike every other 3D MK (including 9).

Some of the ideas are a bit over the top (the aforementioned punching/kicking people 300 feet in either direction) and stage selection could be a concern for tournaments as some characters might be able to take better advantage of the contextual triggers, but I have hope .

Batman has been more broken and written as stupidly overpowered than Superman has for almost a decade.

Batman took the Omega Rays and walked away unharmed
THats only because the comic writers realize that Batman and family is probably their only edge over Marvel.

If Batman was not a playable character for Injustice people would rant and weep on the internet so much it would make the Megaman not being in marvel 3 look cute in comparison xd

Oh, lawd. There would be outrageous death threats. The world would basically become one oversized Gotham City because of that!!

And one reason I always loved Spider-Man is because the guy is a very human character (especially Ultimate Spider-Man whom I could relate to even further since I was in jr. high to high school when I read it the most). He has to track down and go toe to toe with Norman or Otto, and still make the time to show up to work on time and then he has to make an excuse for why he ditched class early or a date or something
Supes doesn’t have that. He’s too perfect. He has a decent, well paying job, has the love interest, several friends, and he’s practically a god in what he can do (in some comics he probably IS a god). I find it hard to find supes interesting when the bigges problem he faces each day is wondering which tie he’s going to put on for work. Hell, even Batman goes through his own mental issues and conflicts between Bruce and Batman.

it’s the goddamn batman

You don’t read many Supes comics do you? He’s never portrayed as a perfect guy, just a decent man who does whats right. And he hasn’t been written close to god level in forever outside of All Star Superman. What a character has to brood 24/7 and have terrible things happen all the time to be relatable?

Weirdly, superman is a more complex character, and harder to get a lock on. Batman is very direct and fantasy-relatable (mentally that is)

Are people really saying Superman was weak in JLU?

… did we watch the same JL show?

Yes he got punched around a bit, but he is still obviously the most powerful person. If you are talking about the times with Mongol or him getting Zapped by electricity… remember, he is not immune to electricity. A hard enough shock would knock anyone out. It will never kill him, but it would knock him out and be painful.

Plus, Superman is very weak against magic, and the show had a lot of Magic enemies. That still doesn’t mean he’s weak.

Damn Right…

Supes is almost completely immune to electricity, there were several instances before the new 52 that showed him walking away effortlessly from very powerful electrical currents. His vulnerability to magic is also highly exaggerated, he trained to build a immunity to magical attacks and it would take a very powerful magic to bring him down.

Secondly on JLU, they nerfed his speed, strength, durability and pretty much forgot all his comic feats lol.

:lame:

Jesus, it’s like they thought “wait superman can be hurt by something? Fix this!!! NOW!!!” I hated when they tried to make immune to his ONLY weakness. JLU did him right, he was still super powerful but not thought up by a 4 year old.

Edit:besides kyrptonite of course.

Yeah the pre-52 Supes was almost PC level OP, zantanna helped trained Supes to build a strong vulernability to magic to the point that demigod magic would be the only thing to slow him down. He also had physical immunity to almost every possible attack…the dude even had a mental astral projection power that was strong enough to beat a cosmic entity lol. This isn’t even getting into all the other powers he had evolved or his sun dipped state…man his sun dipped state was basically a super sayian version of him that was powerful enough to literally overpower gods.

In a lot of ways his pre-52 self was almost more OP then his PC days.

DC trying to manage superman’s power level is kind of an epic story in and of itself

When the fuck did any of this happen because I was hardcore reading Action and Superman and none of that outside of Zatanna helping him deal with magic never happened. And even with the training from Zatanna guys like Abra Kadabra please put this dude in for the love of god, Modru, Le Fey, and the Queen of Hearts were still messing him up.

Yeah it’s sad because I’ve ALWAYS wanted to like Superman but god I just can never get into his comics. I liked what they were doing with Supes when the New 52 just started but eventually he fell back into his OP state and I lost interest.

The only time I can read him is when he’s paired up with someone else like Superman and Flash or Superman and Green Lantern or any Justice League thing. Alone? I just can’t keep interest because no ones in any real danger.
