I really hope they don’t use the characters that were in MKvsDC, like Joker, or Luthor, or darksied.
Lobo: He isn’t seen enough anymore and his brutal-ness is something Netherrealm can really do justice. AquaMan: not lame early aquaman, I’m talking about the newer badass aquaman, strong enough to throw a whale, harpoon hook handed, awesome beard having aquaman. Black Adam: Seriously, black adam is what you get if superman or captain marvel just didn’t give a fuck. Raw, brutal, savage power, the type of power where you just fly through buildings because going around obstacles is for pussies. Hawkman: Flight + Mace = Amazing violence WildCat: I don’t want to sound lame or anything but I want Wildcat like he was in Batman: Brave and the Bold, Old but capable of kicking spectacular amounts of ass. Bane: I’ve always thought Luchadore type characters were cool, but Bane should be a no-brainer in a DC fighting game, plus a boost of venom could be the effect of the gimmick button on him. Plastic Man: This guy needs more attention, and his super powers really gives NR a lot of flexibility(lol puns) with his moves. Booster Gold & Skeets: He just needs to be, just because he’s booster gold. Gentleman Ghost: Well besides being awesome and extremely classy he has a magical ghost cane that I doubles as a sheathed blade that can be used fencer style and a pair of haunted flintlock pistols. Big Barda: She’s big, she’s bad, she looks really cool. The Red Tornado: The power of wind, and he’s a robot, whats not to like about him? Vixen: She has cool powers that would be interesting in a fighting game, and this game is going to need some chocolate in it anyway. Metamorpho: he can change his body parts into any liquid, solid, or gas, a cool power for a fighting game character.
I don’t think they need to joker when they have harley, it’ll just be a Marion & Luigi in Melee sort of deal, different but the same in term of the style of their moves.
and the thing I hate the most about Luthor in that robot suit is that nobody thinks to punch him right in the fucking face to knock him out, if they wanted a Superman villain with robot gadgets and attacks they should of went with Metallo who is 100x cooler at being mechanical and robotoic.
Hey vandal savage is awesome (though I agree he shouldn’t be in) Totally agree on cheetah. I’d be okay with sapphire, but i would rather sinestro. I want manhunter in first before they even think about ma’alefa’ak. Would love mirror master, but I see him being hard to implement. I have no issue with metallo, but like with the sapphire situation I would prefer Braniac.
Already mentioned my thoughts on Bane.
I have the same problem with Luthor
Luthor and Braniac have the same problems, they are thinkers, they both can fight if they wanted to but that isn’t there thing. When you think of Brainiac, him physically kicking peoples ass or allowing himself to be close enough for them to kick his ass(say the size of a fighting game stage) should be one of the last things you picture, he’s the type to launch full scale invasions, or take over all the electronics in Tokyo or something.
Metallo on the other hand gets up close and personal and pummels you with dangerous weapons.
Yeah you’re right about Sinestro though.
Martian Manhunter is very awesome but I cant really see him as a fighting game character, he has cool powers and stuff but I don’t think he would fit in that much, and on second thought neither would ma’alefa’ak.
I forgot about Mirror-master, he isn’t a fighter, he’s more of a strategist, I meant the cast thats in that picture.
Harely sounds like an interesting character. She reminds me of Platinum the trinity from blazblue with the random item things. Im probally gonna try Batman first though because his mobility options sound great and those kind of chars i tend to gravitate towards. If the cutscenes turn out to be lengthy and overdrawn hopefully theres an option to skip them but im pretty sure theyll be smooth transitions Hopefully they learned from using gamespys servers for online too lol. Pretty excited for this game =)
Get used to it. NRS never has huge marketing pushes. There’ll be a deluge of info at a show or in a magazine or something, then silence for months. The websites always under deliver on content, and fans get 'round the clock trolled by Boon and Co while they beg for scraps on twitter. If it weren’t for various leaks half the cast of MK9 would’ve still been a mystery at launch.
I doubt we’ll see anything of merit before comiccon, unless they decide to put up some of that demo reel they ran at E3 as a trailer.
Oh great, i had forgotten about the wait for mk 9 until now. All the hype balanced it out, as each announcement was worth it,but damn was the wait long.
Most people saw the cancellations coming, they just cut the lowest selling titles in favour of some new titles, quality didn’t really come into play (aside from the possibility of their low sales being attributed to bad quality). They look to be continuing the idea of having 52 series.
JLI was okay but I never felt like a Booster Gold book could last that long because many people still don’t take him serious enough to keep up with him. I don’t think enough people care alot about his history to keep a book going when he’s one of the main characters.
I’ve always felt Booster is a very strong background character but as soon as you make him a focal point many lose interest.
I know some people will take issue with my opinion because Booster has some fans but I think you gotta have him be somebodies #2 but then throw in a bunch characterization of BG in there on the sneak tip.
Booster Gold solo book lasted for 47 issues. Only got canned to make way for new 52 like every book in DC’s mainline. The character has no problems being able to carry a book.
@ Hawkingbird
That book had great writing and word of mouth behind it, I judge by if a character can survive with an average plot that many others get saddled with.
I was pleasantly surprised by that run but don’t think it can be repeated. Would be open to be proven wrong tho because I much preferred his book over the Red lantern book.
New 52 ruined alot of characters momentum including BG but has done amazing things for others like Swampthing, Nightwing, and the getting better with each issue Outlaws (Starfire FTW).
WW is one of the characters that has benefitted the most from the New 52. She has a much better outfits with armor, she has better supporting characters, and her book is relevant for the first time in ages.
Azz is the only writer I like writing Wondy as much as Simone’s run with her. I have to admit I didn’t like the Amazon changes but overall she’s much better off.
