He was/is streaming but I must have missed your match.
Watching FChamp’s stream made me want to try out Sinestro and holy hot damn he is really fun to play. I’ve never gravitated towards zoners in the past, but by God, slamming boulders in their ass and locking them up just to charge up your orb is so awesome.
I want to get the game, but only if the netcode is good. How is it? Playable or not playable?
Sinestro should be banned. It’s like he has unlimted interactables. It’s not fair for the other characters who need to get in.
I hate to say it this early, but Doomsday seems like garbage. He gets eaten alive by zoning. The only way he has to get in against solid zoning is to burn meter on the Sheeva stomp, and if the zoner isn’t in the middle of doing something, they can just back dash to avoid the stomp and punish the fuck out of him for having the gall to even try. Even if does get in, so what? He can’t force an opening at all. If you just keep a standing block, the worst he can do is throw you, or try to catch you in a meter burn ground pound (which is telegraphed as fuck). Ladies and gentlemen, Doomsday is free, and you heard it here first.
I tried him out and yea, hes fucking free. He just doesn’t have anything going for him besides being incredibly unsafe.
Edit: Everyone keeps rage quitting against me now. Even on the damn player select once I pick Supahman.
Except they aren’t unblockable and are dodged by a single dash or ducking. The worrying thing is how many anti-zoners there are in the game, with Raven and Killer Frost being the two most prominent ones. Raven is a weird sort of zoner x anti-zoner x free pressure monster with her +6 string that has no pushback on it. I can already see people bitching about it since you need to know when to attack in the middle of the string ala Tekken games instead of just mindlessly mashing after it’s over.
Sinestro is really good. Once his trait is up, what you’re dealing with changes dramatically. He gets much better damage options through using it to extend combos, it makes his zoning even better, and specials and strings that were unsafe before suddenly become safe. He is easily in the running to be one of the good characters. The only issue he’ll have to deal with, like you said, is anti-zoning. Raven and Killer Frost can stand up to him, though I can’t say if they win the match-up. Black Adam and Aquaman can deal with him as well. Ares can fuck with him as well, and so can Joker (that gun is so fast, and teeth mixups/unblockables in the corner are ridiculous).
This is only day 2, but it’s looking like match ups will actually matter, so that’s a good sign.
Other good signs:
-
Intractables don’t seem to be a big deal, despite all the worries.
-
Stages don’t seem different enough to worry about banning.
-
Nobody seems obviously free except for Doomsday.
-
There aren’t a bunch of day 1 infinites (there were some, but they got patched, and here’s hoping to no more)
-
Everyone is crying, and not just about one character.
P.S. People are sleeping on Catwoman
P.P.S. People are sleeping on Ares.
If you want interactables banned, you have go to tournaments and prove how they need to be banned.
Watson did this in Alpha 1 with autoguard, Damdai did this in HDR when no believed him that Akuma still wasn’t balanced. Needless to say, they were banned after proving it.
Weired people thinking doomsday is free. People on kombat network stream were being bodied by DC.JR doomsday but I will admit i wasn’t impress by his competition in the first place.
People are sleeping on a lot of the cast going by online.
Everyone just picks Deathstroke because his projectiles are easy to spam and they don’t have the skill to be good with anyone else.
lmao at Gamespot’s review of Injustice. The flaws they listed were not enough to warrant the grade, it was pretty clear they just disliked the game for personal reasons. Netherealms must’ve not forked up the cash to pay for a good score lol
Scrubquote
I haven’t fought many Deathstrokes online, but the ones I have all just tried to do some terrible zoning.
I saw some really cool set ups with interactables on the Offcast stream, most notably car smashes on oki. On the Catwoman note, I decided to pick her up as a sub and HOLY FUCK she is so much goddamn fun, matrix dodging shit and landing that badass trait combo.
How do you guys feel about the flash. I was playing a friend last night and we went 5-5. I feel flash has a tough time against lantern but I’m sure its just me. Pressure is messing me up with him I can’t poke out or nothing lol. I’m assuming down back 3 is my best option?
p.s. Aquaman is boss anybody have any bids or tips with the flash
That isn’t in any way a ‘scrubquote’. It was a simple observation which anyone who has played any fighting game online would acknowledge.
Xbox Live and PSN are full of low level players who have little skills. They gravitate towards cheap characters with spammable moves they can get easy wins with against other low level players. This is a simple fact of gaming online and the reason why Deathstroke is so popular in Injustice now. What’s that simple observation got to do with being a scrub?
It’s not me complaining, it’s me pointing out why he is so popular online right now.
Try reading what is actually there instead of being the flipside of a scrub and using the word at the drop of a hat when it makes no sense to.

You should tell this guy then.

Exactly. Lol, I remember when “ban” was a bad word around here. There was a definite shift in attitude at some point. It’s not like the community was outright anti-ban, it’s just that bans required a justified reason and documented proof, usually at the tournament level. If I remember correctly, the banning of HDR Akuma resulted not only due to Damdai’s extremely strong showing in tourneys (which demonstrated that Akuma was in a tier by himself, far above the rest of the cast), but he also showed that Akuma had an infinite block string, one that was so tight that you couldn’t even opt to get hit to break it. This showed both justification for a ban, and actual proof that it was a problem. With Interactables being easily avoidable, even on wakeup, I would honestly be shocked if they were banned. Seriously, the answer is backdash. It’s not that hard.

I’m saying he’s free not because of match results, but because I analyzed his toolkit, and found it wanting. The only reason that he’s bodying people right now is because the game just launched, and he has a lot of stuff that seems really dangerous unless you figure out that just holding back shuts down his entire offense. The only way I see him not being free is if he is played like Honda: waiting patiently, not rushing down, and punishing mistakes. He can do pretty good damage, but with no way to crack people open, rushdown just doesn’t seem like the right play style for him. If he is played super cautiously, it might just work, considering he can throw you out of a block string.

People are sleeping on a lot of the cast going by online.
Indeed. Online is a good way to ensure that one doesn’t get rusty if there isn’t anyone to play in person. I consider it to be just another type of labwork (a live fire exercise, if you will). The really work will be done in offline matches. There’s just going to be too many things that fly online, but won’t when you’re unplugged. For instance, throws are easy as fuck to tech on reaction offline, but online it’s a different story.

Everyone just picks Deathstroke because his projectiles are easy to spam and they don’t have the skill to be good with anyone else.
You’re not going to get much mileage around here with sentiments like that, bub. Keep in mind that skill has nothing to do with execution, character ranking, or anything else. It’s about winning, end of story. The method doesn’t matter. No one care about “skill moves,” “high skill characters,” or any other bullshit scrubs cry about.
