Beginning to notice how all this ToD combos are always in that one area of Fortress of solitude. Anti-interactable guys will need a lot more than that.
If I’m cornered by a rush down character or anybody that wants to be close (most of the cast) on my wake up, I can hit them with an unblockable move and start an 100% combo.
If he has no stacks available (it’s got a 4-5 second cooldown, so it’s not likely) then he can just turtle up for a second and initiate the unblockable move.
Applying venom can be done during the interractable portion of the combo, so applying it isn’t a problem.
You gain meter retarded fast in the game, so meter is very scarcely a problem. Not to mention that if he doesn’t have the meter, he can use his airthrow to chuck you back into the corner and pressure you for the couple of seconds it takes for him to get his damage back.
It isn’t balanced just because you can drop it, lol. I’m not one to bitch about high damage combos, hell, I main Bane, but interactables cause more problems than they add to the game. Hell, look at the fucking pig. Unless you’ve got a slide, you can’t avoid it. And this is just DAY 1 experimentation with these environments, just wait until people get a grasp on how to link multiple ones on each different stage, which brings me to my last point.
Of course it isn’t valid on EVERY STAGE, but the fact that we’re going to have people bitching about NO YOU CAN’T PICK THAT STAGE IT HAS 100% COMBOS or NO YOU CAN’T DO THAT ONE IT’S IMBALANCED FOR NON-ZONERS is just going to be a headache. Much like Smash Bros, which I personally don’t like, the removal of random and overcomplicated things was for the better. You shouldn’t be gimped because of the stage selection which you only have a 50% chance of not getting.
Max Venom Bane isn’t a problem, Superman can do it, too. I’m sure many other characters have 80-90% combos from similar interractables. I’m positive Grundy has one at the very least.
I already detailed it all in my post: … but it’d only have 5 seconds of cooling down, where you can’t reactivate venom, you do less damage and you take more. After the cooldown has expired, you revert to normal damage, both given and taken, as well as gain the usage of your venom again.
So if it actually becomes a problem, then ban it. Why ban something immediately when the game just came out? Plus you can armor through interactables, something every character has access to. Getting so riled up about something when the game has had barely any actual play time is pointless.
Just until the cooldown wears off. No idea how long that is or if it varies between levels, but thats basically how it works.
soooooooooooo tired of idiots using this scenario as a reason to ban/remove things. So in an unpatched game, you’re upset because of a combo that literally involves you being cornered in a specific stage at a specific spot, hoping your opponent stands still, hoping your opponent doesn’t combo break, hoping your opponent doesn’t dash cancel, all while you have all your traits active…?
You’re probably the same kind of fool who makes combo videos for MvC3 that requires you to have 5 meter, 3 specific characters, you have X-Factor 3 somehow, your opponent has to be Sentinel, they’re recovering from a taunt, and it’s the 12th Sunday of the month.
Got damn I hate leaving General Discussion on SRK. The level of intelligence just plummets
mm… that’s the same stage where superman did his huge damage combo. maybe they’ll increase the scaling on those or something. even if it’s not the most practical thing in the game, i doubt it will stay.
For anyone who has the game, can those sort of interactables be stuffed on startup? I know I’ve heard about the gadget character’s corner escapes getting stuffed, but I’m not sure if the same goes for the hitting ones. I’d imagine if you’re in the corner against, say, Lex, I’d be too busy blocking a meaty mine or missile to make mashing something like that work.
Riled up? I’m not riled up in the slightest, I couldn’t care less whether or not it actually gets banned. I didn’t make a big ultimatum about never playing the game or refusing to go to tournaments because of it. I simply stated that it’s certainly a case against turning them off. People need to stop getting insta-defensive of the game and actually evaluate the pros and cons of keeping them turned on.
How is General Discussion any form of an intellectual pariah? I think you’ve got your boards confused. As for being an ‘idiot’ for pointing out a flaw with a system, you seem to think that this is literally the only thing wrong with the hazards. For one, it creates an imbalance in certain match ups, most notably zoners vs rushdown characters, as different stages are going to add a massive advantage to one of them assuming they use it first. You could argue that it’s just extra depth, but much like the SSB example from before, so do items and stage hazards, but they’re removed for a reason. Then you’ve got ones like the pig where only a select few characters can dodge it, while everybody can ‘armor through it’ if they can react to it absolutely instantly and then blow one of their bars on it just to not have all your potential rushdown progress halted.
Once again, no anger or ‘stupidity’ on my part, simply a differing opinion. Aside from the interactables, I completely love the game and can see myself playing it for a while. Even if they keep in the crappy gimmick, I’ll keep playing it, I’m just hoping it doesn’t impact the popularity of competitive interest in the game when people find more broken shit as the game life goes on. Lovin’ the comparison of one bar and an unblockable attack into 80% to 5 bars, X-Factor 3 and three specific characters. If you need even 2 bars during X-Factor 3 for a kill, chances are you’re garbage or the character you’re playing is garbage. Not to mention that you probably gain 3 bars in the same time it takes for you to get a whole bar of meter in Injustice, so it’d be rendered moot, even if the example wasn’t silly to begin with.
They can be stuffed on start up, but all the interactables have different start up and different positioning. So not every character can stuff every interactable. Some of them also have REALLY fast start up, so you can’t always bank on stuffing them.
I’m not sure how me saying we should give it time before calling for a ban is defensive, but okay. The point I was trying to make is that already talking about bans when a majority of people haven’t even gotten the game yet is jumping the gun. Wait until Civil War, at least.
EDIT: Just saw that you can stuff them. Using stuff like mines and other true meaties is not “banking” on stuffing them really, its basic offense. If you’re not invincible, you’re forced to block. If you’re letting them get up with stuff that seems like a personal problem.
I’m not even calling for a patch, the issue itself is with interractables in general. I’m less concerned about the 100% combos and more so about the fact that it’s a random factor to matchups that could potentially make or break them. I’m all for depth, but potentially having your matchup shat on because there is an interractable that can completely undo your character’s strategy and potentially cause you the round unless you can predict it and blow a meter to maybe avoid it seems silly to me. By all means let the game grow and see how much of an impact they have.
As for stuffing them, you seemed to miss the part about ‘every interractable has a different start up/positioning’ meaning you can’t stuff everything, or you can only stuff things as a certain character realistically. Not to mention that armor from traits applies to the hazard, meaning ‘blowing through them’ like against somebody like Bane isn’t always something you can bank on.
I got your point, all I’m trying to do is look at the options you have against it. Nitty gritty specifics about each one I could care less about. I fully admit I haven’t even played the game, I’m just throwing out things that are known to work at least sometimes. More just trying to get myself familiar with the system than anything.
The rest of the system is really good, I love the meter burn button idea as it makes things really simple. Some characters feel a bit funky, but that’s more so Day 0 stuff and a lack of a patch yet, so it’s not a fair basis for it. The interractables aren’t a super big part of the system yet, most people forget they’re there, honestly. But it’s definitely a super fun game and roster.
I’ve played only two matches online and it does feel a little wonky to me. Managed to win both game but kept dropping combos as some moves just plain wouldn’t come out at times.
Lol, very astute assessment there, mate. Why would I stop playing a game I enjoy because of one thing that may or may not become a major problem later on? If anything, NRS will probably nerf EVERYTHING like they did with MK9.
