Nice way to kill the hype, IGN. :stuck_out_tongue:

its bullshit force from The Bullshit Dimension

This si why Supergirl needs to be in this game.

The Joker is an essentially assured inclusion, they’d be mad not to have him.

So they’re either playing the teaser-teaser-teaser-reveal (tm Capcom) game, or he’s simply not even close enough to done to show up in the trailer.

That was so badass

I think the only challenge would be making her completely different from Superman and not a clone character. I would rather them have 30 unique characters than have the roster filled with clones like her. I just dont see how they could make her not a clone without completely changing her character.

This is why I hate over-analysis of Trailers. Not even 2 days old and they’re being cynics about it! Nothing positive like how the stages are interactive (harking back to MK), the graphics or the sound. As for the Grotesqueness and X-Ray Moves, wow. Let’s just have it be an exact clone of MK with Batman ripping the Joker’s head off (and I don’t care how cool it sounds, it’s not right!)

How about Reviewers actually wait for a playable build before the relentless bashing starts. It’s like they were bribed by Capcom…

The best thing to do would be to take the Weapon X approach.

  1. Give her only two similar moves to her counterpart
  2. Increase her speed, lower her health.
  3. Have her give some witty dialogue that disses the Man of Steel.
  4. Have Dr. Doom fall in love with her and–uh…

…strike that last part. =P

IGN criticizing a game that still has a year in development for a lack of polish is awesome.

That’s sort of the mood geek culture is currently in. Nothing is as good as once was, everything is a let down, and expressing cynicism about everything is awesome. We’ve re-entered 1991.

Except no awesome Grunge anthems of discontent.

Well, this was Superman in that same movie.

Supergirl, if you watch her fight, fought intelligently. She knew she was overpowered, so she did a lot of counters and evasive moves, turning Darkseid’s own Omega Beams against him. Superman… his fighting style appears to be “lets punch each other in the face until one of just can’t pull through anymore”. Superboy could be added as well, because he doesn’t even have the same powers. He has, like, telekinesis or something. And he can’t do some of the stuff Kryptonians can do, like heat vision, and flight and… something else, I can’t remember. The only clones you’d have to worry about is the Bat family. With the exception of Nightwing and Red Hood, I think they are all pretty much are Batman clones. And maybe Kid Flash, and Wonder Girl (I’m not sure of her powers, I think they are the same). All the other sidekicks/clones/whatever are all different enough to warrant being made, I believe.

I would still rather have 30 different super heroes/villains than sidekicks and the like, but that is personal preference and i see your point.

Do you see Milli-Vanilli around here? No! So be quiet and go watch the Avengers Movie! =)

It does bug me that some people seem like ign to think this is Mortal Kombat. It doesn’t need fatalities or the like. MK vs DC got flack for toned down fatalities because of the presence of MK characters, not because it is essential to Batman’s character to punch superman through the skull (the opposite actually), I know that the folks at netherrealm have pretty much worked only on MK for 20 years, but that doesn’t mean that everything they do must be mk related, I think they deserve a break. If Capcom was never allowed to do anything but streetfighter, we would have no darkstalkers. If namco only worked on Tekken, no soul calibur, and SNK would never have moved past Fatal Fury etc.

The hate is also FGC cliquishness in spades. If you post on SRK you’re supposed to hate on MK games. (Thus the millions of ‘omg this looks like a game for casuals’ comments)

Still, lets not kid ourselves, it absolutely looks like an over-the-top in different ways, but otherwise interchangable MK game. The visual style is massively similar.

If Capcom made this game it would turn out like crap. Nether Realms 1up’ed capcom. Capcom isn’t its past self anymore. I’m kind of glad Nether realm studios is making this game. They already made a good name for themselves for MK9. And since this is DC and not Marvel, we can expect a polished game, unlike Marvel rushing video game developers to finish their games which is why so many Marvel video games are lackluster.

If it has similarities okay, sure, that happens. But for people to knock it prematurely for not having something in the game that has no business being there just doesn’t make sense. DinoCrisis had clear similarities to resident evil, but I don’t go into it thinking, where are the zombies? (Though zombie dinosaurs do= awesome lol)

MK hate isn’t an SRK thing. It’s an idiot thing. As is the “casual baby” sentiment. Just FYI.

From Ed Boon: http://kotaku.com/5914902/in-injustice-where-superman-is-standing-matters-a-lot-really

“There are guys on our team who are tournament players and there are certainly layered features for those EVO guys and all that stuff in there. That’s a big part of our strategy.” Boon and his Netherrealm studio’s Mortal Kombat games have never been the fixture of fighting tournaments like EVO the way Street Fighter has, but it sounds like he wants to edge into that scene more, with the most recent MKand with this one.

They are indeed trying to make this a competitive fighter. The satge hazards and stuff could stand in the way of that, but we will see.

I’m playing the cynic today I guess ><

All game developers say that these days (although in fairness they do actually hire tourney people).

You say po-tay-to I say po-tah-to. (Couldn’t resist)
