You can’t pull rank on someone above you, Ivy is more popular and iconic and that alone puts her ahead. It’s like a Punisher fan pulling rank on a Deadpool fan, “he was a badass mercenary first!!!” doesn’t matter imo. Popularity > history that can be changed easily.
Like I said from the beginning no prob if ST gets in but Ivy would much cooler. I’m bored of this topic so I’ll leave it at that for now.
They have Grundy in so they’ll obviously have some obscure characters but NRS is a bit different from capcom in philosophy in that they value fan favorite characters more than others and will outright ignore niche characters. Sometimes even pretend they don’t exist.

To your comment, yes Ivy is more popular but iconic is debatable, she is part of an iconic rogue gallery for sure, but as a character alone I feel she needs to do more. Deadpool also came up as a villain in a popular title, but he has also had a steady ongoing series that solidified his place. Hopefully her stay in BOP can bring her to a similar level, but until then I just can’t call her iconic on her own.
Given that this is the start of a new “brand” and not just a one shot thing, it seems likely they’ll lead with their strongest foot and then dlc or expansion pack in more obscures. Its pretty obvious they plan on making another game, I doubt there’ll be anyone in this who isn’t immediately recognizable in the DC brand.
The thing is, I think, that the strongest foot forward actually isn’t just all the highest profile/premier characters.
They can include all the characters that would fit under that idea and still have 12-14 character slots left.
For instance, for that kind of thing all you need from the Batman family really are Batman and the Joker. BLAM! You have the BM fans already (and we already have twice that).
From there you want to catch peoples interest with something unusual (not to mention NRS’ input on it, which will be about characters they can make interesting)
Within the DCU he is. He’s the protector of the Green, you know, a body of elementals that connects all plant life on the planet. Many things that Swamp Thing involves himself can alter the DCU as a whole. His role in the conclusion of Brightest Day is one instance of this.

Okay WTF! Catwoman gets in but no Ivy??? There goes the argument that Ivy can’t be in the game. If Raven, Ivy, Starfire, Big Barda, Black Canary, Katana, Zatanna,etc get snubbed it’ll be a waste.
Well now we know to expect the most popular characters instead of characters that make the most sense.
I like Catwomen, but honestly looking at her gameplay, aside from the rocket and the whip, this could have just as easily been Cheetah…I like her entry and winposes though. I hope they announce a second character at the event, because otherwise this reveal would be just disappointing. Come on Aquaman, or Manhunter, or… you know what I’m going to stop now before I spend the rest of the day listing possible characters.
Edit: and they better wait a while before they release the joker, as of now they have revealed way too many batman characters way to early, 4 out of the initial 9 are batman, that is ridiculous, if you are going to overload with batman space it out at least.
