Info on Changes to Guy in Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade!

^This. No matter what happens in the near future, I like the character Guy. Imma keep fightin people until I find somethin better to do =D

Don’t you think that’s exactly what everyone’s doing? Who here plays Guy and DOESN’T like playing him?

Reasoning behind playing a character is a moot point, regardless. I like guy because he’s mobile, has a large damage potential / eye candy combos, and decent mixup. He’s also a cheesy character and actually has some development and a history (abel?). Replace all of that with “he’s underused and I feel unique” and the difference is what?

I think we’ve gotten into this debate a bit too much. I’m happy he’s being improved and will use him no matter what. Sure, I would like it if he doesnt get overused in AE, but even if that happens (small chance) I’ll still be using him regardless. I have some peculiar standards when maining a character in fighting games which usually eliminates at least 60% of a cast as main. I only main cool, awesome characters like ryu, sagat, akuma, guy, cody, even blanka (he’s awesome in his own way). The rest I’d only use as secondary or casuals haha

Might sound weird, but this is a video game with interesting characters. Some people only care for the one with the best tools and might not even mind if all characters were stick people lol Most players aren’t like that though. They choose characters based on gameplay and design.

A: Like you said, it can focus 1 hit. Since EX Run can focus 2 hits to begin with, you can now focus all of Akuma’s HP Shakunetsu Hadouken by timing your EX Run -> Stop. Of course, you’ll take gray damage.

…Discuss. I don’t quite get how it can absorb 3 hits. I guess when you stop after run, there’s a few frames where you absorb 1 more hit from the super armour. That’s pretty crazy though. Who else in the game can absorb 3 hits lol awesome stuff.

EX Run can absorb 2 hits currently, while the Stop sequence itself followed up from EX Run would absorb 1 hit, which makes it 3 absorbs in total. I’m pretty sure that the Stopping part from EX Run has another super armor as well during recovery.

yep thats what I thought. I wonder what other changes the devs are hiding from us. Gotta wait till mid december to find out although I’m more then happy with Guy’s changes as long as TC is fixed.

That buff makes runstop even more scary. Armor cancels with the stop would be insane.

yes but remember this doesn’t apply to armour breaking moves. Still cool to have. I wonder what got into the devs to finally do Guy justice. Maybe they realized he’s too cool to be low tier lol.

I think it was a combination of two different things upon Super’s release, and I can put it pretty simply:

Guy mainers: WTF@Guy
Guy non-mainers: LOL@Guy

And no, I’m not saying Guy is/was a “bad” character. Don’t jump on my ass for that.

I think the dev staff started taking their own opinion of how good a character is with a grain of salt. Thank God.

Umm am I missed something here? People are still talking about guys mp to hp comboing all the time etc… but thats not in that final list that capcom just gave out… so ummm yea im confused… is guys final changes the bushin flip doing less damage, chain combo being more consistent AND the changes that capcom said are his final changes or… is it just the latter. Cuz yea I don’t remember seeing anything about the former in the blog. And if thats the case maybe there are more changes period?

Capcom has not released all the changes for every character. Only way to know what they all are is to wait for the full version to release.

Man I get punished too often in trying to sweep someone with HK slide before they land their jump. I always think if it was another character with a standard sweep, it would have worked. Slow startup on the slide and the update needs to come already!

If his c.lk is 3f… it should be alot easier to combo off Run->Overhead if they are crouching right?..damn that makes run stop pressure a whole lot more scarier…

Its possible all the new characters are done, and the other 4 are just on time release, wasn’t the code/ability to play as Akuma and fight against cpu Gouken on time release in the arcade version of Vanilla ?.
