Infinite floodgates opening

That’s what Kubo thought and he couldn’t even get his neutral started.

Yeah but in a major tournament that theory will work for you great some matches and get countered and blown up other matches. It also requires X-23 to be on a funny spot of a team that’s not very optimal if you want to get the most out of it.

In practice the teams that will be able to take advantage of it the most are the same heavy space control teams that won Evo like F.Champ’s teams. Which even then…anyone who is going to use this consistently is going to kill the first character with a standard combo first (unless it’s some brawler ass character they can take the risk against like Nemesis or Haggar). Which means you will see the infinites just not on every opening touch like people want to think.

Which again…America takes way too long in general to put stuff like this into practicality and have it work exactly like the theory any way. Hopefully we see it go down before the year is over at least. Right now we’re nowhere near close.

It’s just more people getting juiced up on technology that won’t exactly completely overtake fundamentals and basic team structures like they think it will. A typical case with Marvel 3 really.

i forget who it was now, but somebody actually started doing one at EVO using sentinal whilst on the big screen and the whole crowd went nuts since we all knew what he was doing. he only managed to pull of about 3 reps of it though before dropping it. i didnt see anybody else even attempt to do one apart from that one time.

Again…that’s because no one really practiced it. From what I heard it was Tokido, Jan and F.Champ as the only ones who even really attempted it. Which even as they learn to get the full reps down consistently in tournament matches (F.Champ was doing it in training mode at least), people are still going to go for the standard kills to not have to fuck with the TAC counter possibilities against cheap ass point characters.

You can always just save it for the 2nd character and get a similar result. No huge deal to go HAM with the TAC’s on the first character. You can win a match with a smart first kill then enacting it on the welcome mix up for the 2nd.

I’m sorry, but the underlined ones go together.

No one ever said it’s going to replace the need for strong neutral. You still have to get that 1st hit. But if you already have strong neutral and you can convert 1st hit into this, it will be dominant.
From now on people are only going to find more and more teams and ways to take advantage of that.

People only got hyped for the infinites because it was new tech. Just like they got hyped for long swag Doom TAC combos. Well swag Doom TAC combos were used all over at EVO and they didn’t get as much of a response as they used to. Even Yipes called the Doom TAC combos “dry”… because everyone is using them now.

Once the new car smell is gone the infinites would become “eh” in terms of hype and for some even be a hype killer.

I think the next development is more inescapable TAC tricks.

Word. People wanted an MVC2-like game. They got it now.

God kills a kitten everyone compares infinites to Marvel 2.

The Doom TAC combos are far less dry than the ABC BBC stuff that still is most practical for some of the better characters. I still don’t get tired of seeing Marlin Pie dash behind then backwards back in front of the opponent during the midscreen TAC’s.

I’m just glad the TAC infinite apocalypse phase is over and we’re back to people just being good with Nova and Magneto doing their shit in tourneys.

Doom air to air confirms from the chop or butter gun into full combos still get me rock hard.

Among other things…
I also imagine combos with the sole purpose of getting the right positions to TAC in so that incoming characters could start the infinite from every possible TAC direction (something that as of now isn’t possible from the usual TAC height)

just going to say that TAC combo are dry, if all you’re doing are MnMs. Marlin keeps it fresh.

Sorry if this was posted already (or if people no longer care about TAC infinites) but here’s a video of Nova’s infinite being done in the corner and midscreen from multiple TAC directions.

I don’t see why people would risk the infinite if there was even a chance of getting broken out of when any good team either kills off of a hit or gets a great mixup which kills off the hit.

Yet in almost every match in the finals at EVO, someone went for a TAC.

The rewards are to great, and the risk is minimal. Hell, for alot of teams, even if they get TAC countered, it’s good fro them.

Is there video footage of someone doing an infinite at evo? I heard a few happened !

Bonus: Jan told me he’s considering picking up X-23. Texas for Evo 2013!
