Hrmm… Methinks this would make everyone REALLY hate TACs.
Sentinel can TAC Glitch in ANY direction, and also Midscreen; just like Magneto, Dormammu, and M.O.D.O.K.
Nice. Where ever we go with this discussion now, at least the statement ‘until these become tournament viable’ can’t be used anymore.
“Until these become tournament viable” was a nonsensical statement when it comes to these. They are all fancy combos you can do; people just wanted them done on stream for whatever ridiculous reason.
Oh I completely agree, its a ridiculous thing to say. But instead of just wasting time telling people why it was a ridiculous thing to say, now we can just say 'okay fine have it your way… now its happened. Discuss."
i understand the TAC being skewed in the attackers favor is bad, but no matter how unlikley, they CAN be burst
doesnt that make it technically not really a combo and more of just a cheap strategy? i just mean, a combo cant be dropped because of input from the opponent
what if they just increased the window of time to burst, or give some small indicator of which direction they use
if these were reliably burstable, would anyone even have a problem with them being possible? or do people just hate TAC that much?
Except they aren’t reliable burstable.
What TAC’s are is basically a reset mixup. Except, in place of using your character tools and such to do said mixup, they have replaced it with a simple guessing game. Which is about as far removed from a competitive game as i can come up with. The only reason it’s not as bad as tripping (from Brawl), is because you can choose not to do it.
If they were it would be a dead mechanic, kinda like pandora in SFxT.
thnx for responding, i think i understand now, thats really too bad, there are things i like about the mechanic and i feel like if it was only better balanced (much more risk for the attacker except for with tricky setups), and had indicators to eliminate guessing, itd be a really great thing
honestly, me and my dumbass friends already thought this was the case, because we probably burst 50% of eachotheres TAC’s , but then again none of us can punish someone (ourselves) mashing s, and most of us exchange in the same direction every time,
now i know
Tripping in Brawl isn’t nearly as bad, because you don’t die instantly from it. You don’t even lose a stock for it in most situations. You have all the time in the world to recover from it. TAC is like everything else in this game - you die instantly, and you’re out of the tournament without even being able to play. It’s to the point where it’s no longer a fighting game. You’re really just playing heads or tails. Nothing in Brawl is as bad mechanically as this shit.
Well, I consider tripping worse solely because the game is just deciding arbitrarily to inflict a trip upon you.
TAC’s are also a mess, but at least its the other player deciding to engage in the guessing game. However, with how strong TAC’s are, there is less and less incentive to not engage in said game, and that severly hurts the value of the game.
In my opinion.
What type of drugs do you have to be on to suggest something like how TAC’s are worse than a mechanic that negatively affects you without making a mistake? That alone puts it in a whole nother league of random that would have basically been screamed out of the game.
Honestly…most of the reason why TAC’s are in the game to begin with probably has to do with there being no burst system. People more or less said they would shed Capcom’s blood if they put in that “animu game burst stuff” so Capcom had to look for other ways to change the dynamics after people got hit.
Just like any kusoge game before it…not everyone can handle a game where making a mistake = being put at a severe deficit.
I still prefer the benefits of this which is making more mid tiers stronger, giving every character some way to kill in one combo and nerfing the comeback potential of XF3 characters which people still hate more than TAC’s. I still see more good than bad coming from this if you account for everything. Long as people drop combos and as long as it doesn’t change the fundamental strategy of the game which is “space yourself correctly to land a clean hit before they do” then the value that has been there before will still be there.
Besides…who doesn’t want Sentinel to be better? LOL

But does guessing wrong in a TAC count as a mistake?
I don’t think so. Even if they are giving you the chance to burst out, the whole situation is still offensive.
No reason of arguing about infinites in general.
Just have fun experimenting with them while there here.
Enough tears have been shed and Niitsuma is already on top of fixing this.:xeye:
Actually, we don’t really know if they are fixing this or not…
Probably, but it’s not really a sure thing.
It has to get through the insanity that is Capcom corporate after all.
Well, the way I see it, they don’t have alot to gain financially from fixing this. They already haven’t sold as many copies as they wanted, and you could make a strong case for cutting you losses and letting the game rot/thrive.
The flip side is, they want to support the community and win back some standing with fans. Capcom has lost alot of respectability with the public lately (BBB downgrade), and that does hurt their bottom line.
So it could go either way.
just about the long and the short of it yeah.
My gut is that they gave up on supporting the game long ago, but this is kind of turning into a bit of a debacle, so he might be able to convince them.
Well, they don’t want to be the company that ships broken products and doesn’t fix them.
Regardless of what you think about the infinites, the general PR of the whole thing is bad.
That’s like Eighting signature man. Hell when
Getting hit to begin with counts as a mistake. That’s why the tourney standard is 3/5 now. Ever since Vanilla Marvel the main strategy is hit them or ask yourself why you got hit.
The only way to ever stay consistent in any version of this game is slapping yourself when you get hit until you figure out the neutral enough to land clean hits more often.
TAC infinites do not change how top players will win matches. You’re just not supposed to get clean hit in this game. Hence people running to hidden missiles.
