The idea that these aren’t going to be a big deal seems very silly to me.
But as you pointed out, in too stupid to respond to you, so I won’t bother.
I’m very sorry not everyone sees light at the end of this tunnel.

I personally don’t like TACs, but I will say this gives me some incentive to use them now. Mags can easily do those resets but at the same time the game system itself SLIGHTLY prevents some of those being as useful as before. I will say though, that most Mags resets I’ve seen have usually just been into throws with very rare exceptions. Always up to be educated about this if there’s something I’m missing here.
FlyingVe I don’t believe I insulted you so if you felt that way then it was definitely unintended. All I’m saying is fundamentally there is nothing wrong with these infinites if it opens up more you can do in an already too limited game. As others have also said you still have to worry about when, how, and if the attacking character will go for a reset and you still have to respect the team setup of the opposing team. I wouldn’t want to give Morrigan, Vergil, Phoenix, or Storm among a few characters 5 bars that they can use later to either chip me to death, come back to live, or put me in stupid loops. Just because they are there you still have to think of what using said tool will do for and against you. I’m sure in those situations though more people will look to killing people with side exchanges to take away at least one meter though but regardless it’s something you have to consider.
For the record, Xero has been more than cordial.
Also for the record, I never expect everyone to agree with me. Nor do I expect to always be right. By the same token, I don’t say something because I expect to be wrong.
You are right on one thing. It is an important tool for a lot of characters, and you’d be a fool not to use and abuse it.
Where we disagree is whether it makes the game better or worse.
Looks like he was talking about start of the round.
Also, you are right in saying that giving Vergil 5 bars could bite you in the ass. But given my Vergil has the first shot at the meter dump, your odds of making it that far are astronomically low.
megaman beat that with his c.lp I believe plus you have switch Cable’s c.lp switched Sentinel s.lk using super armor, Mags could time his own c.lk to beat a switched c.lk and I want to say Storm could do c.lp but I can’t remember if it had to be switched or not. It’s been a while but there are others as well
yeah, i mean. if you’ve already got your own 5-bar vergil and you’re the one who landed the infinite and killed a character (maybe even the opponent’s vergil), you’ve still got the major advantage here by far. doesn’t much matter how much meter you’ve given them if they never get a chance to use it.
you seriously think anybody is going to show up and be able to perform the sentinel, dante, iron man, viewtful joe, zero and amaterasu timings of their infinite for 20+ reps of all three directions of TAC in high pressure situations any time in the next, say, three months?
I’m very sorry you can’t recognize why its fkin ridiculous to flip out about infinites totally breaking the metagame when pretty much everybody has one. I haven’t called you stupid yet either. If I wanted to I would say as much, in as many words, but I don’t believe you’re a dumbass - far from it - so I’m not going to do that. you are being a wee bit dramatic overall, I would say.
tiers before infinites & tiers after infinites aren’t going to change, it isn’t going to shrink the list of viable characters at all and might actually add a few more characters to it
like deisied is saying, the worst part about infinites is their impact on hype
They aren’t that low I’m just saying you wouldn’t want to give Vergil five bars. If you are running an anchor Vergil more often than not I’m going to go for the snapback and attempt to get rid of the problem before hand.
i’m not worried about evo, and frankly it’ll be fun to see if anyone manages to fit this into their game in time. in the next three months, though? yeah, absolutely. will everyone be doing it? of course not. your marlinpies of the world? i don’t see why not.
you can still snap and do a 4 bar dump.
This is hitting on anothe one of my issues with this. Meter management is much weaker. Given you will get it all back with one hit, it much easier to torch it for the hit, and it doesn’t even need to be a good hit.
Blackheart could s.HK and lift his hurtbox above mags crLK and punish him for it.
Sentinel armored through.
The short range gave a few characters options they don’t have against speed that the shape does allow.
All infinites aren’t created equal.
Some benefit some characters more than others.
It will stratify the tier list more.
Who can do it off of all directions midscreen and practicality.
It means less if your character was already building the meter to kill off a touch like Spencer or Zero.
I don’t think potentially eliminating resets and becoming more 1 playery is a good thing so this TAC thing is bad.
Yes you would both have 5 bars. However, one of you has to guess a bunch of mixups before he can actually use those 5 bars. Your odds of getting to play with an incoming character against Zero/Dormammu/Vergil/Viper loaded with 5 bars are astronomically low, so much so that giving away 5 bars is barely a cost
In addition, this a lose lose situation for the guy on the receiving end of the 5 bars. A normal combo would have ended up with him in a meter advantageous situation over his opponent. Now he not only has to eat the incoming mixup but he is at an equal or worse meter situation with one less character
I have no clue how these infinites will turn out to affect the game, but…
CC infinites (along with general V-ism dominance) pretty much killed most people’s interest in A3. There’s a reason it had the shortest lifespan of any SF game that wasn’t obsoleted by a direct sequel.
MvC2 infinites are not remotely comparable to this stuff. Too many differences to note, really.
You really don’t have a clue what you’re talking about, please stop trying to act like you do.
i haven’t checked his twitter lately but iirc MarlinPie said he couldn’t find one with Ammy and Doom’s was impractical. if MarlinPie calls something impractical it probably is
someone found an easier doom one that is quite practical (not quite easy though).
As time goes on, loops will be getting easier and more damaging, not harder.
We’ve already seen revisions of many of the loops.
i’m sure someone has mentioned that frank west getting free meterless solo level 5 combos against the whole cast is a relatively huge deal for him, right
edit:
interesting. fair enough. then again, it does depend on whether he means impractical for most people, or impractical for him.
double edit: oh, well there you go then.
got a vid?
