We could maybe do one for GG since the main group for that seems to be coming today but its up to you whether you feel like bothering to record that
The more footage we have the more potential our scene has to grow so I say bring it and we can atleast record casuals or something. But it is a lot to haul so its up to you ZAP.

YOU GUYS! Last Arcade Legacy ranbat of the current season is Saturday. While GG is not currently a ranbat game, Alphakami, Zinac, Sly Moogle, and possibly more GG players from out of state are planning on attending, and I’d like to try to have an impromptu tournament for it, or worst case scenario, a lot of casuals. Since you guys are hype for GG now and within driving distance to Cincy, I thought I’d see if anyone was interested in coming out. Please come out.
Sovereign, if you don’t want to learn stick for GG, you really don’t have to. Even outside of Latif, I’ve known plenty of top players (finalshowdown, kbnova, juicy g) who played on pad, so you’re in good company. I’d just say go with whatever you’re comfortable with, honestly. If there comes a point where you feel like playing on stick would help your game, go for it, but it’s possible to play well on stick or pad.

Indy or Mario it felt a little easier this time around with Ken and some of the other characters I use I kept switching between his SA1 and SA3. It felt easier to combo SA1 though. With Urien is it possible to use his circle disc SA like the Reflector unblockable set. Just wondering since it look kinda slowish after it’s out if yo could hop over it. I need to figure out some of his set ups last night I couldn’t get more than one shoulder ram after knocking the opponent in the air.
Ephraim I hop I gave you some descent matches in GG since I haven’t played it in a while. Your traps with the butterflies have gotten really good with pressuring me into the corner or mid-screen for your combos.
Zap good matches in ST for my first time playing it it was fun. It felt different but once I got used to it. For the KOF Xiii Discussion we had last night I Know for sure I’ll be using Terry and Joe and then I think I’m pretty set on starting out with using Clark. In most fighting games I rarely use a grappler so I think I want to give a go. Plus he has The army Men color art lol. Also where did get the dual modded stick from I can’t remember the name.
There is no reason to use SA1 over SA3 for Ken. SA3 does everything SA1 can do only better and it can do a whole lot more. A lot of Ken’s scary reversals are only possible with SA3 and though its a little advanced for you, you’ll want to be comfortable with that super so that you can work DED into your game at some point. SA1 can’t use DED due to Ken’s fireball and dp.
As for Urien, never use Jupiter Thunder…ever. That super is good for trolling only. Crap damage, crap stun and zero unblockables. Without Aegis Urien loses alot of his potential and becomes a much weaker character overall so you’re definitely going to want to learn how to use Aegis. Generally speaking at midscreen you’re only going to get one tackle off of a cr.fp launcher. You can burn an aegis and keep it going for a midscreen unblockable or if you’re close to the corner you can burn the aegis and go for a Tackle Tackle Headbutt (TTH) setup, depends on the spacing. In the corner you can do a TTH or burn an ex stock for and land one additional tackle.
Notation:
Midscreen unbloackable: any launcher, lk. or mk.tackle xx fp.aegis, hk.tackle, dash partition, mp.headbutt, dash (x2), f+mk, cr.fp (repeat if you have meter)
Midscreen TTH: cr.fp, lk. or mk.tackle xx lp aegis (usually but depends on spacing), hk.tackle, mk.tackle, lp.headbutt
TTH: cr.fp, mk.tackle, lk.tackle, lp.headbutt
Corner juggle: cr.fp, mk.tackle, ex tackle, mk.tackle
Corner juggle variation: cr.fp, ex tackle, mk.tackle, mk.tackle
Those are some basic and really damaging Urien combos. Those Juggles will work off of an anti air sphere aswell so make sure you can bust them out whenever you get the chance. Don’t be afraid of the dash partition either, its not as hard as people think. There are no special timing tricks required for the standard unblockable so just make sure to return to a downback charge at all times and when you dash bring it back to down back as soon as possible. Then once your dash finishes you should have accumulated enough charge and just hit up and mp. We can discuss stuff like corner unblockables, character specific combos and advanced partitions later. For now try and master these basics.

INDY, I thought you would say that about those supers. I wasn’t intending to use the SA1 over SAS3 with Ken. I just use them last night and was just thinking out loud. With Urien though I just didn’t know how to use Aegis the right way, so I just picked one of the other ones to see how they worked. Your right about the Jupiter one it’s slow so I just started throwing a fireball in front of it. I didn’t think it would actually work just fucking around. Thanks for the basic combos. Uriens a fun character though.
I’m thinking about it but I’m not sure yet. We might have a local gathering that day and I tend to prioritize the local scene over travel events. I would definitely at least need to get a couple other people to come with me to afford the cost of fuel for the trip. Some day I will stop being so poor and get back to traveling to more midwest events.
Melty Blood and Arcana Heart 3 are really good games too. With all the Guilty Gear lately I have pretty much stopped trying to get people to play them though
Well, I just want to play you guys in some GG again, and think Saturday would be a good occasion for it. Also Valentine, vampire is the magic word in Cinci. We could surely give you some bro tips in that game. I understand wanting to support the local scene though.
Yea it was a good time, keep practicing tho, besides Monday nights I am getting in some hours of practice at home too, so hopefully I am stronger next week
I have to work on Saturday from noon-8 so I cant make it to Arcade Legacy, and as mentioned we have a potential event planned. It would have been a perfect weekend to go tho, b/c I had a test today at school, and wont have one for 3 more weeks. oh well.
sorry guys i’ve been MIA… i’ve got some dire news though…
…last tuesday i was up at Tilt and imagine my surprise when my boy Vic told me that they had sold a bunch of machines to someone from Ohio, those machines included 3S and MvC2… and lo and behold Jessie the owner of Arcade Legacy steps out of the shadows, and I’m like “Hey Jessie, what are you doing here?”… dun dun DUUUUNNNN!.. AL totally bought about 9 of our machines… sold straight to the quote unquote enemy
not really a super big issue since the arcade employees told me we were getting a big shipment of new machines the following tuesday (today) … but they got us… they even took Beatmania … sad face … And so i’ve arranged a Tilt vs. AL 5v5 for Naptown Clutch… revenge!!.. i’m gonna go downtown tomorrow and see what we got to replenish our spirits and i’ll let everyone know
and on that note im working on the new NTC thread right now, it will probably be up by tomorrow but i CANNOT for the life of me come up with a name… Naptown Clutch II: ??? … i got nothing… a little help guys
and after that, I’ll be at the Arsenal next monday to play some games after which I’m inviting everyone to my place to continue gaming and jump on the UMvC3 midnight release so we can break that in… everyone is welcome but if you need any info just call me (317-21-37483 or 317-281-3045)… we’ll need a few systems, maybe a couple TVs or monitors, and of course some midnight release copies of the game… i’ve got one on reserve from gamestop (awesome costumes sucka!) for 360 but that’s about it… later people

Shit, if there’s gonna be a VS scene popping up in Indy I’ll freak out. Having some people to play GG with is good enough for me, adding VS would just be too much. I’d like to play other fighters too, I only dabble in AE/3S, like two combos in AH3, and I played MB once a long ass time ago lol I guess you could count F/UC, but no one plays that. Just Kyle and me picking bottom tier. Once UMvC3 hits I’m hoping we can get a good scene going up here.
GG was the first fighting game I really tried to learn, but I still played Darkstalkers 3 way back before that just because I liked the characters.
