Actually, no, it’s credit card fraud. They are receiving everything that was offered to them at the time of purchase, so asking for a charge back at this point is fraud.
It’s called “friendly fraud” if you want to read up on it. Rarely is something done about it as the amount is typically fairly small and the fee/enforcement structure is built to protect the credit card companies and not the merchant. This is online merchant’s biggest gripe with credit card companies. But, CC companies have more/better lobbyists so they write the laws.

Naw wolf… People cant/shouldnt go around buying things and then putting in a chargeback for said item.
There are alot of things besides the vote that these people paid for that they got… Such as squiglys story mode, bigbands story mode, squigly and big band… As well as the ability to vote in a character.
Saltiness is fine, but voting and then pulling money is stealing.

It’s strictly Hood’s opinion that the people doing charge backs for Skull Girls campaign are criminals. An opinion I seriously doubt anybody shares. Even though I personally would not encourage it, I know better than to tell people what to do with their own money.
I would say that its the “intent” of the people doing the chargebacks:
If they want there money back after voting and not getting in the character they want, or a character they dont want getting in… Then they are committing fraud. They got the right to vote, used and then asked for their money back.
If however they saw that they put to much money in to the campaign and need it for like bills/life expenses… Then it isnt fraud as long as they didnt vote. Once they vote though it becomes fraud because they paid for something, got that something, and then decided they wanted that something for free.
In this case they were neveraying to get this or that character in. They were paying for the ability to vote on said character(s) hence the pulling funds after having voted being fraudulent.
If you get what you paid for, and then ask for the money back, and get said money back without having to return said paid for item, you are getting that item for free and are committing fraud/stealing.
In this case there is no way to take back these peoples votes without compromising the integrity of the vote itself. Therefor, any chargeback that was voted on is an act of fraud. And it isnt labzeros fault. This is the same as a raffle and you don’t get your money back for a raffle ticket that didnt win.
But they are stealing. They paid for a vote, they did not pay for their character to win that poll. Just because their character was not chosen, or they’re not happy with the poll is not grounds to take their money back.
It’d be different if LZ were offering something else and did not make good on that promise, but they are following through on their promise exactly. They bought a vote and they used that vote. Anyone who donated to get the TF2 hat was refunded when the hats were withdrawn, and that’s totally fine. People who are pissed off because their waifu didn’t win should not have the same option to get that money back.
I 100% agree with everything you guys are saying. But at the same time I think it’s pointless to get mad at people that wanted their $1 back and call them assholes and accuse them of being criminals and silly stuff like that. That’s why I told everybody to relax.
Worse case scenario we lose Robo-Fortune’s story mode to cover the costs, and I don’t think anybody is losing sleep over that.
*People did not pay to vote. They contributed money so that:
Squiggly could be fully playable
Big Band to be fully playable
Robo Fortune to be playable
Raising money for new voice packs
2 new stages
Fund 2 new characters which will be determined by the community
If people are threatening chargebacks or whatever because their favorite character didn’t win the first community vote that’s silly. Specially when they don’t know by how many votes their characters fell short of to move on subsequent rounds. Or even bothering to stick around for poll #2 to see if their personal picks won that contest. It’s a silly kneejerk reaction that stems from a sense of entitlement while completely overlooking what your money actually goes to. *
I have a hunch we’re going to end up getting Eliza, but deep down I think Minette actually has a solid shot at this. So exciting. I’d be happy with all 4 (although I’m voting for Minette) If I had to take a stab at it, it would be something like this:
Eliza 40% Chance of Winning
Minette 30% Chance of Winning
Annie 25 % Chance of Winning
Aeon 5% Chance of Winning
I think if Minette, Annie, and/or Aeon got a trial video test like Eliza is could potentially help their prospects. I hope Mike does something for all of them, even if it’s just more writing about playstyle speculation.
Big bad wolf keeps saying you can’t tell people what to do with their money- nobody forced anyone to donate for free dlc with perks sent to them. They’ve had a month since donations closed and L0 is trying to get the perks lined up to be sent to donors. Refunds at this point will interfere with the entire perk system for everyone. Again nobody forced them to donate money and to pull back a month after is petty and detrimental to the cause. Those who claim refund deserve to be blacklisted from the free dlc.
I think I did pretty good with my predictions though my “Favorites” tier did a unspectacular job. I’m still surprised Dhalia or Umbrella didn’t go further. My darkhorse tier was right on the money more or less though in hindsight Molly and Brain Drain might have been stretching it. Feng was surprisingly ousted in the top 16 but I think most of us can agree that top 16 was a huge chopping block for most of the cast. Stanly, Venus and Scythana all defied my projections for them in some shape or form, though I’m most surprised at Stanly’s run going all the way to top 8.
Minette was right on the money. People love her and people dislike her, I’m dying (pun unintended) to see more “Minette dies” .gifs, specially of ones of Eliza taking her out. *
