In the end which characters do you think the community will choose for DLC character additions

It doesnt matter, none of this besides the actual vote matters.

Also, though i understand your reverence for Alex, yo… He’s an artist not mother teresa, dude isnt some saint and his designs are no more or less scrutinizable than anyone elses. My sisters also an artist as well as my grandfather as well as some of my aunts and best friends from high school… Artists arent exactly rare, and neither are good ones.

Having said that, yes Alex’s designs have had some serious thought put into them but that doesnt elevate them up to a status of untouchability… I only mention this because you keep referring to him almost like some messiah come to save fighting games whos creations were tempered in the tears of god and and had life breathed into them by Jesus… I mean perhaps not that bad but you go a tad overboard with the “you are disrespecting alex” stuff.

He’s human like you and me, not infallible.

But like you said… It doesnt matter.

Just because I don’t refer to Annie and Umbrella as lolicon doesn’t mean I’m treating him like a saint.

I don’t see what point you are making if “it doesn’t matter”

What do we get out of having a poll where no aesthetic considerations are being made? And aesthetics do matter in fighting games, no one wants an ugly roster. I’d imagine the character choices you voted for have some part to do with aesthetics.

Making a Poll about mechanics instead of looks would mean that I might actually look at dick whip differently.
Also, KoF 13? Best joke-free cast ever. All of them interesting, all of them quirky and sometimes even funny/moe, but no character with a gimmick personality. The advantages of being broke and still having to make 30+ charas.

Then where the hell’s Leduc on this list? I’m starting to question Mike Z’s claims of “I’ll make the character awesome despite my personal preference” if he’s still going out of his way to make Leduc ignored as much as possible. Leduc needs support. Hive too for that matter.

I really think is Mike Z gave Hive support, with a concept video or two, she would instantly become one of the most popular characters. She’s actually a character with a very good playstyle.

B.Dahlia seems like B.B.Hood/Chris with feints. Decent enough, but there are plenty of other character who can offer more. She’s got style though.

D. Violet actually sounds interesting with the pose control for unblockable setups. But she’s easily the most polarizing in terms of aesthetics.

Hive is Q-Bee+. Nothing against that, but there are plenty of other characters with more original mechanics. I like her looks though.

Leduc sounds like a cross between Victor and Spider-man. His only unique mechanics is the repulsion/attraction bit. Maybe a bit like Seth? Rather than bad, he feels kinda meh compared to others.

When it comes to being unloved, Hubrecht easily takes it. He has probably the most unoriginal playstyle speculation and cheesy appearance.

2nd Vote should be a Reverse Vote where you vote for the characters you wish to get kicked out.
Half the people wouldn’t get it and vote out their own characters, then bitch
The other half would call the first half retarded, and bitch more
And once results are dropping in, everyone would bitch at everything

We need more salt

Do it

Here’s something that Stanley (and Annie) haters won’t got into: what is it in his play style that you hate?
I’m sticking with the I’m-so-hipster-I-have-to-hate-what-people-like-for-the-sake-of-hating theory.

For Leduc
I think his attraction mechanic would probably be more like Iron from Blazblue (I think Mike said he really liked those moves). That has a much more dramatic effect than Seth’s move, since Tager can pull you full screen right into is grab range. And his immobilization moves are supposed be like Necro from SF3 rather than spider-mans webbing, so it would probably be pretty close range stuff. Sounds pretty cool to me.

For Hive
Q bee’s dash is homing (follows the opponent). Hive’s dash will be like Magneto since Mike says it would be atleast 5 directions. Also I think they have been hinting that she will have flight mode too. Q Bee has flight but she has to spend meter for it… hopefully hive wouldn’t have to.

What is it about Stanley that i dont like?

Well from his description he sounds like a boring direct attack type of character… Like balrog. Direct attacks are boring when youve been playing fighting games for a long time… They are certainly needed, but being totally based around the, with nothing non direct attacky thrown in to just seems boring… Yo… Stanley just seems boring to me… Like ha ping a convo with him would be boring… Idk, thats a bad example as far as convo goes, but thats how i FEEL, and that feeling goes into his gameplay style as well.

Annie feels about the same… Direct attack… Boring.

Need more non direct attack stuff like crazy movement options… Not boring shit like shark dive. Something like what feng might have had… A bang bumper or Bridget yoyo type thing. Parasoul tears, peacock hp item drop that homes in on people…

Now, of course Stanley and Annie might not be boring balrog characters… Ut its all in how they are designed and right now from their gameplay descriptions they just seem linear as all fuck… Well at least Stanley… Annie i cant remember… But shes carrying a teddy bear… Evil or not, powerful or not, to me it just doesnt scream “take me to training mode and have a field day”

But that might just be me.

Stanley is short and squashy and I can’t even tell if he has hands… I don’t like him much visually.
Also from reading the Lab Zero play style speculation, it doesn’t even seem like they have decided how he would play. So I can’t really get excited about that either

i had the impression that Annie would feature Sagan similar to Jojo characters / semi leashed. Buuut that’s just speculation. Nothing to go on unless i missed something

I just reread the Annie and Stanley reports… Annie still seems rather direct linear and boring from her description… She powers up her sword or not… It might just be powered up…like parasouls umbrella. Aaaaaand thats it.

Stanley after rereading his description sounds much better than i had t first postulated… High tech gadgets… How’d i miss that? Lol. That seems pretty fun… Makes absolutely no sense in an “i dont know the story kind of way” … A shark that shoots laser beams? Er… Ok. I guess… But if nothing else than the ACTUAL LASER BEAMS MINUS STANLEY, should at least be cool. And whatever other tec weaponry they can give him. The boxing style seems random and dumb to me… Whatever. The shark themed attacks also seem rather stupid… Kinda like may and her dolphin i guess… I always hated the look of may and those stupid dolphins… I mean dolphins materialising out of concrete… Just seemed really stupid to me… Though i liked her anchor… But yeah that my blurb of running thought as i was writing this… Didnt stop to think on whether any of it makes sense… So it probably doesnt… BUt whatever.

I’m late in responding to this, but I haven’t been following the discussion here. Short answer? I like guns and gadgets.

In the past, I was heavily focused on playing purely offensive oriented characters but in more recent fighting game titles have gravitated toward using more defensive ones. I still prefer offense, but I’ve come to appreciate and enjoy playing a bit of zoning and keepaway since characters who use guns and gadgets almost always fit that archetype in fighting games.

Of all twelve additional characters added in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, I was by far the most interested in Rocket Raccoon and I jumped at the chance to make a dedicated discussion topic for him. I also play Chris Redfield a lot in Marvel if that means anything.

In Skullgirls, my interest is almost exclusively centered around Peacock; a character that depends entirely on her huge arsenal of deadly gadgets and contraptions so others can’t lay a finger on her. Stanley looks to be a really nice compliment to her and I’d enjoy playing the two of them together. Nothing wrong with a bit of boxing thrown into the mix either.

I like any character that’s even vaguely reminiscent of Ratchet from the Ratchet and Clank series (who I play almost exclusively in PlayStation All-Stars) since he’s one of my favorite fictional characters. I think he’s cool and he’d be fun to play.

There you go. You can stop assuming that I want the character just for the novelty of it. You’re right about me liking him 'cause he’s a science shark, but that doesn’t even come close to covering all the reasons why I want him to be playable.

Where’s that rabbit from man?
I feel like I’ve seen him before.

This is an opinion I am okay with and understand (I think the same, his playstyle doesn’t seem to offer much, let alone does the game “need” it).
However, the reaction to Stanley would be “Meh, I’d rather not, doesn’t sound too interesting in my book” in that case.
Not the “BURN THE WORLD BOMB A COUNTRY IF STANLEY MAKES IT IN” kinda thing that most people are sprouting.

I think the burn the world feeling is because most people understand that this is permanent and that taken to its worst conclusion means that if we REALLY LOVE sg yet it gets no more funding… We are stuck with boring science shark for “10moaryears” i mean think about it:

People were/are hype about the inclusion of new characters for sg. It when one of those characters may as well be dead to you its as if the campaign never happened at least in reference to that character slot.

Its just a very salt inducing thing on all levels from the minette lovers to the minette haters and all characters in between cause they are literally losing for ALL TIME.

The only solace i can find is that i wont be hype and waiting for a character i love for 6 months to a year, to be made… I can simply enjoy squiglys and big bands play along with the other 3 characters that i use and never be made to feel like… God damn this is taking so long like we usually have to do when waiting for some hype anticipated future event.

So… To me the hate is completely understandable, even totally expected.

Man I’d donate more money to shut some of you up.

*Yeah I think that’s the reason why people are getting so up in arms about who gets voted in. Assuming this is all the characters we’ll see for Skullgirls for the foreseeable future people are invested in who we might get added to the cast. It’s why I hope we get Dahlia or another gameplay expanding character in the fan vote that augments the already small cast of characters. If the roster for Skullgirls was already 16 characters deep or something like that then I’m sure people would be less vehement about who they want included and who they hope doesn’t get in. *

  • God damn it SRK. I hope we get a “delete post” option soon.

Eh might as well use this double post opportunity to say who I think will make it. Well I don’t really have a fucking clue to be honest lol. At this stage it’s hard to predict who the top 4 will be, specially when Ravidrath said characters 2-5 for top 8 were within 50 votes of each other. Though I do wonder who’s that magical number one who’s separated themselves from the herd. I just hope Eliza makes it to the final four since I’ve fell out of love with Isaacs gameplay potential.

I’m pretty much apathetic to everyone else in the top 8. I’ve given up on thinking one of the characters I’d like to see get in will win either poll 1 or 2. At this point I don’t see a mass exodus of people voting for a character like Taliesin, Beatrix, Violet, Regina, or Dhalia over characters like Feng, Annie and Minette. Eliza making it as far as she has is a minor victory for me. *
