The female cast isn’t, but it’s sexualisation and clichedness is just as outrageously ridiculous as those characters I just mentioned - it’s campy, it’s stupid, it’s fun. It’s not supposed to portray “realistic” females in the same way the male characters aren’t meant to be realistic either, and it plays on the audience’s general expectations for the genre (men are empowered, women are sexy).
It’s neither good, nor bad - it’s certainly immature, I’ll agree on that. But like was said earlier in the thread, it only mirrors our society, it doesn’t shape it. So I wouldn’t be too hard on those games - in more ways than one, they’re just still being just the mirror of the public’s expectations, and in no position to shape them (man, wouldn’t they like that).
To me, it’s funny, like “haha” funny, when I see ridiculous characters like in SC or DOA. I don’t really see anything in them that warants being taken seriously.

Men in games are objectified too, it’s just you don’t pay attention to it because pretty much all gamers are male.
We’ve been over this. Men are not objectified in those games (and generally aren’t outside of femdom fetichism because usually even the attractive idealized males women want in their porn are not generally defined by the pure sexual stuff, it’d usuall subtler), them being sexually appealing is supposed to be empowering to the male gamer. You couldn’t possibly have found a less relevant example than Dante.
A better one would be Raiden from Metal Gear Solid, which was specifically designed to appeal to the female audience - Kojima admitted as much. Guess what he doesn’t do ? Flaunt his ass, dick and balls. He’s attractive, obviously so, but he isn’t, as an entire character, defined by those traits or by his body - although that helps him being more sympathetic to the female viewer (at least the ones that are into that kind of stuff).
Female characters are allowed to look attractive unrealistically attractive. That’s not objectification, and is not the issue here. Plenty of great female characters are also very attractive, simply because we respond more favorably to an attractive person. What we are objecting to here is stuff like Ivy’s costume, Mai’s tits, Rachel (from Blazblue) on those official phonecards - where the way a character is presented is basically virtual prostitution.
EDIT : About Mai, I should develop : I am not saying there’s something wrong with her initial appearance, but more of how she has been used over time by SNK as their postergirl for tits and ass, much like what Morrigan has been for Capcom.
