In regards to the netcode

This is the way to go. You just can’t hop blind into shit for now anyway. Just check your opponent’s connection before you battle and you’ll be fine. If you don’t you will see how shitty this netcode can get.

Remember when you hit that pedestrian with your car at the crosswalk and then just drove away? Pepperidge Farm remembers, but Pepperidge Farm ain?t just gonna keep it to Pepperidge Farm?s self free of charge. Maybe you go out and buy yourself some of these distinctive Milano cookies, maybe this whole thing disappears.

Each page (A,B,C,D) is a control type

EXAMPLE: So if you like your settings use type A. Change B,C, and D for friends and make sure you keep “A”.

This is a great idea IMO instead of constantly changing buttons everyone chooses their “type”.

ahh, actually that works much better. Since most sticks have 3/4 specific layouts, just save the four layouts, then the controllers choose their type

I’m the only one for the last 2 days to have blue bars taht I’ve ran into. lol thats bad…very bad.

oh man the lag online sucks.

Hey yeah, that does work better. Thanks for the heads up.

I just played my friend that lives about 20 mins away from me. I was amazed at our connection! It was like playing offline. If this patch can make it play like that with whomever, this game is gonna be a sure fire hit!

I created a feedback thread within the discussion group so that we might be able to easily post our concerns rather than spamming the wall on their facebook page after reading this post.

Here’s to hoping they address the majority of our concerns with the upcoming patch. Hell, here’s to hoping there’s amazing post-release support!

Yea gill explained it best, if both chars choose control type a, it modifies the controls for both players, if one chooses type a and the other chooses type b, then obviously its fine since the type types are seperate to eachother.

I’m impressed with their post-release support. Within two hours of buying the game and learning about the netcode I heard about a patch. If the patch will fix netcode similar to BlazBlue’s than I consider this game a must-purchase.

King of fighters XII from Facebook
" Ignition would like to say thanks again for the passion, dedication, and patience the fans have had with King of Fighters 12. As the game’s publisher, we are constantly listening, and trying to keep you guys happy. The patches are currently being worked on, we have additional servers confirmed for monday on the sony side, and we are working on the 360 side as well."
**
Oh, I guess we’re getting a dedicated server. Sounds like a fresh server. This should be good. **

On top of that, after the game’s official release, and the patches are implemented, we WANT to continue to hear about your experiences! We are communicating with the developer (SNK) regularly regarding performance, and are with you in terms of pushing for DLC. Your voice really counts.
**
Erm… didn’t the “Playstation Store” menu on KOFXII hinted that there’s obviously gonna be some DLC’s?, but I like their dedication on improving KOFXII…**

Oh and Btw, I found a really smooth game on KOFXII. Smooth fps, but still had some little input lags.
Room name is “no lag” I recommend you guys checking that room out.

Sab CA and I were playing each other today and a 3rd guy was in our room and he quit. We were stuck on character select for 10 mins. Had to quit to dashboard and start a new room. I

n the new room, just the two of us the game actually DESYNCED . I’ve never run into that shit in a console game before, I thought it was reserved just for Kaillera.

lol dude, read that facebook thing. they are using SERVERS. you know what uses servers, right? :7(
i wanna stay hopeful but damn, that sounds like shit from back in the day

Nice, adding more servers! Cant wait for this patch!

BB level patch, confirmed!!!

Now that I’ve heard about this server crap, I’m really skeptical about it being BB quality. I don’t think BB and GGPO’s netcode function by being facilitated through a server but rather work based on a p2p type connection. I could be completely wrong about this but using servers to host the games sounds like a sure fire way to get input lag. Maybe someone more familiar with how the netcode works could step in and explain.

ugh, I just did some research guys and according to ggpo.net:

“GGPO uses a peer-to-peer topology to run a complete copy of your game for each player, transmitting controller inputs over the network to keep these copies in sync. Each player’s inputs are sent to their copy of the game without having to wait for their opponent’s to arrive over the network. If the simulations diverge, GGPO rolls back to the most recent accurate state, corrects the mistake, and jumps back to the current frame, all before the player can notice. This provides the illusion of lag-free gameplay.”

This confirms that the GGPO netcode uses p2p technology rather than hosting matches on a middle-man such as a server. While there must be other ways to simulate this lag-free experience besides the specific GGPO code, I just don’t see how it can be done outside of a p2p type connections between both players. As I said before, my knowledge of netcode and such is limited so I’m hoping for someone who is more knowledgeable to chime in on whether this is possible.

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I’ve always heard that all PS3 games use servers, because a company has to provide servers for PS3 online play.

However, Xbox Live itself runs Peer-to-Peer, which is why even old Xbox games still have online supported.

So the only people who are getting “Servers Added” are the PS3 gamers here, and the 360 people’s netcode patch will just smooth out the connection between player-to-player.

Desync Stuff: I heard it DeSync on me a few times today. HD Remix used to DeSync in some of our player matches too, at least pre-patch, so… whatever. Not concerned unless this kinda stuff shows up AFTER patch.

It’s suprising, because the match continues to control smoothly after the DeSync hump. From watching the character fight, I couldn’t tell anything was amiss. So it’s very odd…

Wasn’t aware of this. I was always under the impression that server or p2p was simply dependent on the game not the online service. That’s really strange if that is true…

Game is soo fun. hopefully the patches make it better.
