In regards to the netcode

This is basically the same thing other pc online pc games have been doing for years now and a lot of them use dedicated servers. I don’t think you need to have it p2p in order to implement similar coding if that is the case.

I hope that’s true but the only PC games I’ve seen using dedicated servers are the ones where there are multiple players in one environment/map, like first person shooters in which a p2p connection would be impractical. In 1v1 fighting games, a p2p connection should be sufficient since it’s between 2 people, so what purpose do those dedicated server’s have if not hosting the game?

Too many mixed opinions. Some say great and some say garbage. Guess I’ll rent later in the week to get a feel before buying. Hopefully all patch/server work will be done by then.

i think they need servers for all the extra stuff they have like the clans, the chatroom lobbies and whatnot. Iunno thats just pure speculation on my end.

thank god!!! i was not going to buy this game if they didnt fix that online play

Offline = AWESOME.

Online = ERGH…

If they can patch it to SFIV level of performance, KOFXII could be a huge hit amongst the 2D faithful. Right now that’s a big IF, I hope SNK can deliver cause they made a hell of a fighting game. Would be a great shame to have it marred by trash netcode.

BTW this game stills looks good for being only 480p. I found that setting my 360 to 480p took all the pixelation away. Worth a shot to see how it looks on your screens.

I geuss it depends on the person’s signal strength and the location, I played a few matches today that were all lag free as if I was playing offline.

But if thats the case then the patch can only make it better from here.

Lies, There should be at least a little Input lag. :smokin:

Out of like 30+ games I’ve played. Never got a game with no input lag at all. It’s either both you and the host has Hax internetz, or you guys are playing next to the KOF servers.

you can get virtually lag free games if you live close enough to each other with good Internets. I can notice the input lag still, but its not enough for a super casual to really notice. Outside of my area though…sigh

bash

It’s obviously HaX InTarWebZ…

hmmmmmm might have to try that setting when i get the game

If they fix this online shit Blazblue style, I won’t regret paying 60 dollars American for this game. :3

Weird. Played a guy named Dequave and the game played flawlessly. I talked to him to ask if he was close in location to me and he said he was in Texas. So FL to Texas in a 2player room…fantastic connection. For over 30something matches.

Either something has been done serverside or we just had a fantastic connection, I dunno.

I have an inking more of faith in the netplay, but it still has a ways to go for the majority of matches.

well i laid off online today and played with my friends all day , i’m officially in love with game

i enjoy it much much more than BB and SF4 coz imho i see this game having a thing BB and SF4 needs to work on a bit , BALANCE !

the crap tier Clark can still win against the S tier Kyo and Iori if used right , but winning with the bottom tier on the top tier is really hard to do in BB and stupidly hard in SF4

hopefully the online will be awesome after the patch to make this game even better

is it just me or what cause if i fight someone the first time there is no lag but when the next person plays it is lagfest…

omg right when i was about to win the lagfest it lagged out on me ;[

phoenix azure im near you in the time trials lol

Yes I’m getting that too. I try to play with Yellow bars, but then during the fight, it’s starts lagging like crazy, it might be a coincidence but its very suspicious. I wouldn’t be surprised if people are purposefully lagging during the fight. I was hoping that the KOF community would be above that but it seems to be a universal trend nowadays.

This is part of the reason why I wanted Clan mode, because it’s simply impossible to track 1,000s of individual players, but with Clan modes, it not only allows players to play with people they are familiar with, but it can also act as a user policing system. Clans that care about their rep will hopefully boot players that like to purposefully lag, or ragequit, or send hate messages to other players. Then serious players will be able to find quality matches using the clan search tool, instead of having to fight random online players.

He probably had forwarded his ports…that reminds me: people, forward your damn ports!! It speeds up your connection by allowing you to send/receive more kilo/megabytes per second, so your online play is closer to the speed it should be at. Tired of being the only blue connection in ANY room I go to, and being forced to play against red. Yellow is tolerable, but the lower speed throws you off, and you miss blocks a lot cuz your character responds a quarter second AFTER you press back on the pad.

net code is the worse pece of shit netcode ive ever played in my life.

ive yet to get a lag free or even playable game since i started playing this crap. Add to that the single player experience is non existent (arcade mode is a 5 stages time trial) can you believe it.

i feel ripped off. This piece of shit should be a demo or a beta to test the netcode.

I thought sf4 had bad netcode since i get only abt 60 to 70% lagless games. but kof xii is the worst 0% lagless games so far.

SNK ripped us off. Horrible netcode + no real single player mode + few moves per charcater + small roster = dont buy this game

for the people who havent bought it go rent it first and u’ll now what im talking abt.

FUCK YOU SNK for ruinning the KOF series

Yo, send me your copy. PS3 Right?

Don’t judge KOF12’s netcode until after the patch (or maybe after some more patches.)

If SF4’s netcode, which is supposedly decent, works badly for you, then I think the problem is more with your internet setup / connection, or your location / ISP. Or you’re on wireless.

If that’s the case, then even if KOF12’s netcode was fixed up to be acceptable, you probably still wont get good results.
