In darkness, a hero returns. The Castlevania Netflix series

I actually really enjoyed this, and it fitted very well within four episodes. Being my first experience of Castlevania media, this was dark, unapologetically graphic, and entertaining.

Season 2 coming this summer

perhaps the next episodes will be more action packed and more Vampire Hunter D pacing without so much drama. surei ts easier to just animated characters to talk all the time, but Castlevania is really more of a journey with battles along the way overall.
they should get their storyboards and animators motivated for more action themed episodes.

I wouldn’t bank on a lot of action, especially if they are upping the episode count. Maybe one action packed episode but this series no doubt will cram no less than two more flashbacks (especially if they sneak Grant in) plus half an episode with Alucard and Dracula discussing the merits of humanity at some point.

I personally look forward to it as the first few episodes were more enjoyable then they had any right to be.

whaaaat, the first episodes weren’t enjoyable enough, they had their moments, but they should be more effecient with the next group of episodes, cause they don’t have a lot of support to make it an ongoing series, plus being a very tight series that centers on CVIII, it would be better if they don’t waste time with too much talkathon hoopla.
heroes are remembered more for what they did than what they said. this isn’t some Munsters story. and certainly not Blade Runner either.

of course dont exaggerate the amount of action Im talking about, but even in the small timeframe movies like Vampire Hunter D and even its sequel have, they sure made more use of their segments than Castlevania’s first TV series. but I excuse the first series because the world building was ok, though the second series should be more like a Castlevania adventure.

Vampire Hunter D OVA isn’t that great, its pacing is chunky and felt rushed, the action scenes are gratuitous, the story is filed with plot holes
And overall the OVA only made sense if you read the Manga.

Castlevania is taking it’s time for some story building, they are working on Character and plot development
its called having a plot worth getting invested in.

Book, Vampire Hunter Ds OVA was adapted from a book. So was Bloodlust.

Vampire Hunter D needed more incest and rape, that would have made Darksakule happy

wat. 99% Vampire Hunter D fans praise the movie for the movie, and haven’t read the book. for a anime movie and one and done story, neither movie felt rushed considering movies dont have the time RPGs/adventure games have to go more indepth and it was overall decent pacing with little to no dull moments.

now Ghost in the Shell movie, that had a lot of dull moments, and the Castlevania TV show seemed like half of an appetizer.

plot worth investing in, ha, since when did Castlevania fans care about story above action/gameplay? even SOTN wasn’t all that intriguing with storytelling, and some complained with DoS being more anime and tropey.

of course especially with TV show, they gotta have some excuse to be fighting and use some contrived characterization to deliver the illusion of story depth,
but this 2nd season is probably going to be the last episodes relating to CVIII’s story, so they should make the most of it with action instead of mostly talking heads.

CVIII itself sure didn’t need episodes length of chatting to have meaning and have a greater story through its adventure than the TV series could ever achieve.

I say the first season already did enough world building and characterization. their path is clear, so just kick ass.

Actually if you read the books both Vampire Hunter D movies are extremely rushed and to say they tell abridged versions of those stories is a stretch, Bloodlust has massive changes to its narrative to the point that it’s barely an adaptation anymore and is basically VHD in name and character only. The Marcus Brothers are completely different people in the book. Completely different, awful, vile, horrible people in the book.

For someone who had gone on and on about how horrible this CV show was for leaving out Grant you sure are fine with a couple movies doing whatever the fuck they want with the material since you never expericend it’s source.

110% right here

I’m trying to identify who are Dracula’s generals and having no luck. His best friend Death doesn’t appear to be along them.

Yea I hav a feeling they are new characters. I am hoping they turn into some of the CVIII bosses.

Fucking hell, that trailer was dope!
Slow clap
