Improvements or changes you would like to see in SFV

Easy points? What would it matter if they don’t add up?

They should encourage people to use more characters.

Edit: to clarify, I’m suggesting each character have separate league points for your account. Yeah, if you add them all up for some reason you’d have a lot but I don’t see why you’d necessarily do that. Just show the single highest value on your profile.

Takes way too long to either rematch - or start a match once a game is found.

Be nice if it found a game and just cut to the chase. Even rematching takes forever! Even if you have pre selected characters/stage…

Also the timezone is wrong in the background, and I have no way of changing/seeing where its even getting that from haha

Double KO giving both players a point is ludicrous.

Dbl ko giving both a point is the standard. I want to see parrying like 3s so we can see the skill gap better instead of turtling for days

the walkspeed is so ass, all of the matches look like MKX. in the previous street fighter games, it’d be possible to tell how good a player is just by looking at the way they move around the screen. The art of dancing right outside of an opponent’s poke range is dead. sf5 as it is now is players hitting different pokes from where they’re standing, and that makes the game look pathetic.

And I never liked it. I’m used to DKO giving nothing to both players in games like ST. I can deal with it, but DKO granting rounds just leads to anticlimactic matches.

Being able to select between stage music and character themes, unless that’s already possible and I somehow overlooked that option.

It’s the standard since 3S.
I’m 100 percent sure in the SF2 series a double KO awards nobody a win and pretty sure that is the case in the Alpha series as well.
It only ever got changed around SF3 in order to cater to arcade owners who want matches to be over sooner, so they can get more quarters out of the players’ pockets.

SFV walkspeed reminds me of 3S – and that game is ALL footsies. Dancing outside of an opponent’s range is still alive and well.

If anything slow walkspeed helps you APPRECIATE footsies and cause players to use them BETTER.

Dancing in and out of poke range =/= smashing your joystick back and forth because your char can walk fast.

Story Mode should be revamped.

Each Chapter should be a tutorial for different aspects of the character.

Not only does it tell the story of each character, but you actually get to learn the intricacies of each character.

^^^^^^ This right here is makes sense if you’re trying to introduce SF to new players & break into eSports. Not the bullshit Story Mode we have right now.

there needs to be direct messags for the inbox so we can send messages to PC and PSN players. There needs to be also a ingame friendlist to make inviting easier. Favorites is basically becoming someone’s follower.

I think some ex reversals need more invulnerability. Getting stuffed by a normal cut and dry is pretty dumb IMO.

I feel like there should be a thread just for the online portion of improvements. So many little things that could help a long way, while i feel this could easily be overlooked by capcom folks.

Here’s a few for starters.
We need a friends list not just favorites. Favorites is basically like following someone not adding/requesting to be friends.
A way to invite pc and psn players easily and not manually type it in using the friends list. A way to DM/PM/INBOX people if necessary.
Searches should add the criteria for same rank or higher. Casual search should have a rematch option.
Searches need to show more than 1 page.
rage quitters need to lose points.

Also this is single player, but i think survival needs a continue option that deduct points. The challenge should be getting a high school…not making so damn frustrating to unlock some colors.
continue should also remove the FM reward. So there’s still incentive to win without dying.

I’d love it if they didn’t waste time on the vs. screen when going back to training mode from a ranked match. I mean there’s no versus screen in survival mode so I don’t see why not.

Hitboxes on attacks… how could they not get something so fundamental right? I’ve never played a Street Fighter game where my feet clipped through the opponent without scoring hits. I mean. Jesus. Especially after 3rd Strike which supposedly had pixel perfect hitboxes or something like that, I forget the term, but even past games Alpha, ST, et. al, WORLD WARRIOR when my foot hit you it hit you.

Street Fighter to me is not about running in on someone and doing frame traps. To me it’s about fundamental zoning, footsies, mind games… ugh. Not liking the game so far.

I don’t mind the frame trap aspect of the game… Frame traps are pretty cool to me. What I dislike is that I can frame trap someone that is mashing and not have the frame trap actually hit the opponent. Makes me feel disconnected from the game when I’m guessing correctly and not getting rewarded for it.

The problem in a game like this is what you are trying to frame trap:

If your frame trap is like chuns cr.lp,st.mp there’s a 3 frame gap there and the st.mp will outprioritize any 3 frame cr.lp. That’s all and good. The problem is… What if you ALSO want to frame trap the opponents tech attempt… In other words you are pretty sure the opponent will wither mash jab or do a delayed tech.

Unfortunately, there is no real way to cover for both options in a frame trap sort of way. If you try to hit the tech attempt then your frame trap will have to be timed late… And that leaves the opponent the ability to mash jab instead and get out of pressure.

Conversely, if you do a tighter frame trap to hit the masked jab, then if the opponent did a delayed tech instead… They will block your frame trap.

So it makes upclose offense convoluted. You have to work to get inside, then you have to work to frame trap the opponent instead of being able to read “buttons” and hit “buttons” you now have to read:

Tech
Delayed tech
Mash jab
Jump away
Walk backwards

And have specific plan to deal with all of them. Which makes things really dumb and not at all feeling rewarding for the attacker.

The throw system on this game seems as bad as sf4, just in a different way.

Maybe some characters have ways around this… Command grabbers don’t have to worry about tech throws and if they have a setup for tech throws that beat jabs then they can play a typical streetfighter command grab mixup game.

Chun has instant air lightning legs. It hits early and late tech and even pressures mashed jabs. Without it Chun would be a pile of poo in my eyes. But with it, she gets very braindead upclose offense.

So idk about the game. I like frame traps but it seems to not be revolving around them for many characters since there are to many variables to base your game on.

Frametraps shouldn’t be the only aspect of the game. This isn’t frame trap fighter. It’s not fun, it’s not strategic, it’s not street fighter

I’m reminded of why Alpha 2, ST, and 3S are so good, it’s because there aren’t frame traps. Don’t press a button. You done yet? Oh here’s more. FUCK frametraps, it’s not fun, it’s not SF.

I’ll also add that the game is stiff as all hell. And up close the graphics aren’t even that great. Those grainy shadows, still, 10 years after Xbox 360. Also I fucking hate Rashid. HATE him. Complete BS character.

I’m trying to think of nice things to say… I like how some of Birdies moves feel, like his command grab, in fact command grabs are done well (except for having zero range…). I like Necalli as a character. There’s no excuse for the shitboxes that’s what I’m calling them, not hitboxes shit boxes because that’s how it feels, SF4 didn’t have problems in that regard… please fix that shit. And hopefully I get a mobile character that isn’t overly technical like Mika please Alex pleeeeeeeasssseeee be good. /5 cents
