Improvements for next EVO

Offline I prefer ps3. Online I prefer Xbox. I notice a visual slowdown on sf4 and sfxt when I play on xbox. Random frames kinda freeze. But ps3’s connections are horrid at best compared to xbox

Only problem I really had was sometimes I’d forget who was playing. Would be nice to have the overlays on all the streams that are shown. I was sitting in the back and it was hard reading the main stream from back there. Maybe have it on the banners too, under/above the W-L count?
Also remind everybody to pick up after themselves after the night is over, most of us (including myself) are used to sporting venues where we just leave our crap on the floor. I felt bad I contributed to the record high venue cleaning fee.

how about doing it outside? would be majorly awesome #Kappa

from a stream monsters perspective from europe all I can wish for would be to “reserve” some major matches that include top players for the stream - I mean TOP matches ala Justin vs Daigo or Infiltration vs Gamerbee etc (just a few made up examples); tis a shame that some were played off-stream.

Otherwise it would be good if you could shorten the pauses / non-gameplay / less games stuff on finals day, when you already over the time. SF4 finals were hours behind schedule, and watching from europe that means 6 am or later…

I was actually sitting next to the person booing Mago. That shit was hilarious. Everyone already knew there was no way for Noah to win, so everyone boo’d Mago for fun. Noah is awesome for going up against one of the best with no fear however.

Is not that KOF has a better multi console port because the PS3 version is 1.0-1.5 frames slower than Xbox, but guess what NOBODY GIVES A FUCK about 1.0-1.5 difference, it’s minuscule difference and all it takes to get adjusted if you are coming from Xbox is to play like 5-10 games if that.

I suggest having head to head setups for the finals at least, you guy should worry about stuff like that not a 1 frame difference between consoles.

Dont turn off the lights next time. Seeing people getting hype is cool.
Not sure why they decided to do that (maybe the room wasnt full? Idk).

It was great EVO is always better then the year before. Keep it up.
My only major complaint was the line up.
Marvel equals hype. MvC2 ended the show from 2000 to 2008 and brought the loudest crowd
MvC3 has shown that it has hype and should be the last game on sunday.
Also one suggestion. EVO 03 to 07 had top 8 individual player intros, bring those back.

Even though I hate mvc3 I don’t mind this option. I won’t have to sit through it anymore

I actually never had a problem with that. I just asked the guys next to me to watch my seat…and they did.

way too hott

More of a personal request. But can we please get a little more room in the ST section for next year? It gets pretty damn hot and crowded trying to fit a stream station, commentary booth, arcade cabs, and super guns, in a fairly tiny space.

Bring back Third strike.

Bring Salsa and Chips.

But don’t let Keits have any.

scratch that, he has to wear an Ono costume.

Yeah the food was way too expensive but on finals day you dont have much of a choice unless you plan ahead and like stuff a backpack full of food. either way tho it was still awesome. Also it was my first evo ever and im planning on going back next year and so on and so on but is it held on the same day every year? 4th of july weekend? id like to go ahead and ask of work now to plan for it but i dont think they post the dates this early

I think it would be difficult to get the food any cheaper. I mean even if we find a “cheap” caterer, they’re still going to charge for that food, and that costs will find its way to you eventually, whether it’s through Evo registration price increases or increased price on food. Plus we’re talking about dining in Caesar’s Palace, shit’s going to be expensive.

Your best bet is to either stock up on food, hit up the CVS or Wal-Marts at Vegas and buy food there, or buy food off the strip. All of which are fairly cheap options. Hell, it doesn’t even have to be shitty food. Dan Marino’s Restaurant at the Hooters Casino has a $10 prime rib dinner special that’s pretty damn good. If you look around for the prices, you can eat pretty decent food on the cheap.

Will Avermedia be a sponsor for EVO 2013?

If so, you think they could donate some recorders for EVO 2013?

The Idea that I had was once pools got to Top 128/64 – whatever – You have the main stage for streaming, but the rest of the setups should have Avermedia setups on them to record off stream matches. This way, even though a few hype matches won’t show up on stream, they can show up later on the EVO2k youtube channel/DVD/SRK website.

The reason for doing it at top 128/64 is that it makes logistics easier for figuring out who was who for what game vice having to go through thousands of competitors.

For those complaining about the food prices, it’s Vegas, what did you expect? Any time you stay at a hotel at any tournament, Evo, ECT, NEC, SB, FR, or any other event, you should NEVER buy food in the hotel and complain about it. A hotel is a business and they bank on you never leaving the premises. They mark up the food, they mark up the drinks, they mark up everything because they know you’re going to pay it and that you’re “trapped” there. Simply go to the front desk, ask where the nearest supermarket is, and go shopping. The money you’d pay for a cab there, groceries, and a cab back (if it’s not within walking distance) will be equal or slightly more than what you’d pay for a single meal at a hotel restaurant/buffer.

At Final Round this year, Big Eric, myself, and Skisonic walked to the grocery store about a mile away from the hotel and bought $50 worth of groceries. This lasted us all 3 days with food to spare and we never once went to any hotel restaurants, except for the first day before we went shopping. And that food wasn’t just for us, it was also for the people we were staying with. I think we went to the Arby’s across the street one night but that was it.

Also, I’m not speaking for the Evo guys, but whenever hotel contracts are drawn up, the hotel always tries to get you to sign a food and beverage contract. You never get much wiggle room on the food prices since it’s the hotel’s food and it’s their business to make money. Plain and simple.

On the suggestions end of things, I definitely like the roping off of pools idea. Gonna need a bigger boat for Evo 2013 though. That room was PACKED!

On people not getting seats on finals day: Sorry guys, but it’s general admission. Just like a concert, you gotta fend for yourself. I can’t tell you how many bands and DJs I’ve gone to see where I’ve gotten there an hour or two early, got my drinks, and stayed near the stage during the opening acts. I do this in order to make sure I have prime standing room when the main artist comes on. The same goes for any general admission event.

Prices differ drastically per hotel. Caesars is just in particular very expensive and the food offered is low quality even for vegas standards. The issue is more convenience when dealing with an all day style event where your trying to navigate on and off the strip mid day. If you had a hotel room within walking distance you were ok, but as a local i was forced to deal with the traffic to get to my food (locals avoid the strip like the plague). The Rio had much more affordable range of restaurants that didn’t require leaving the casino. I also believe in 2011 I saw a few snack venders selling “Gamer Grub” which allowed you to get something small without hiking for an hour to avoid paying $5 for a snickers bar.

Did anyone that went to EVO actually play some table games at the casinos? Also, the next EVO should be at The Mirage or Luxor.

Quite a lot of people played at the casinos. And I don’t really care where the next Evo is, as long as it has a shuttle service from the strip to the hotel.
