i Really like Evo staff is getting such cheap prices on a pretty brand new and swank hotel for The Evo players who are going to show up. If i do go, ill for sure be staying at the red rock hotel. For every group that gets a room at the hotel, it helps Evo grow bigger and shows sponsors/Hotels,casinos that its something growing big and something to invest in.
more people that stay in there hotel = More gambling, more food, room fees, shabagabang. and plus you might like the overall hotel and be a frequent visitor, thats what they want to see and would like to invite again and reccomend if all goes well.
the Hotel is hella nice, the rooms are bomb, And i havent seen what the gaming/byoc hall is going to look like but if its anywhere as big or nice lookin as GVR’s we are in for a treat.

Some general info for the Red Hock Hotel:
Room rates are 169.00 for weekends (Friday is considered weekend!) and 139.00 for weekdays. There is also an additional $20.00 “resort fee” for every night. So Thurs will cost $159 total and Fri or Sat will cost $189.
These are all for double Queen bed rooms for two people. Not all of the rooms have doubles, and those are handed out first come first serve. King sized bed rooms are also available upon request.
Additional people in your party cost $35.00 a night.
There is some apparent miscommunication at the moment, because Red Rock set the reservation deadline for yesterday, July 18th and not the August 1st date that is listed on Evo’s page. Hopefully SRK staff can talk to the hotel and get a confirmation of the reservation deadline.
I spoke to them today, and there are 2 cutoff dates in the computer, just make sure you tell the representive that its August 1st, and you should be set to go.

Just to let people know, I think the rooms have plasma HDTV’s… which may cause some lag issues if you want to play in your room. Is BYOC gonna be 24/7?
no hotel room with have HD plasmas in there room unless your getting a suite or something. if im wrong, im sorry but im 99% sure that no hotel would ever put that expensive of a TV in a regular room.

Having stayed at hotels that block off the television inputs, I called Red Rock to inquire and the representative told me that external input connections are blocked off. I suggest bringing your own TV or such if you were planning on playing in your rooms.
I spoke to a guy from Red Rock’s audio/video department and a hotel representative, and they both confirmed that external television inputs are blocked. They don’t mind if you bring your own television, though.

I read your post in the Vegas thread, Palace Station is very close to the strip, maybe 2.5 miles from Sahara/LV Blvd. But it’s around 12 from RR. Might want to see if the rates at Suncoast, or The Rampart are better. Those casinos are almost next door to RRS. But overall you’re not in a bad location.
Red Rock rooms are apparently sold out - the entire hotel, Evolution package or not. Can SRK staff confirm?
I just called and was told the same thing.
The Red Rock is not sold out. They are trying to fuck us.
I called on Friday to reserve my room, they told me that the special EVO 2k rate for Thursday had “already met maximum” but they could get me a room for Fri-Sun at the special rate. So I booked that, and asked what should I do? And they told me to talk to EVO staff and have them open up more special rate reservations for Thursday.
So I talked to Seth Killian, who was furious about the whole thing, because he was 100% sure there was no way that all special rate rooms had been filled for Thursday. He told me he would call and fix it.
So then late Friday night, I saw that somebody had posted on SRK saying they called at 9:30 Friday and booked Thursday-Sunday no problem. So I called Saturday afternoon, and got the same woman I talked to on Friday. She said Thursday was still booked! I told her that I dont’ want to call her a liar, but I KNEW somebody who had booked Thursday at the special EVO 2k rate just the night before. She looked in the system and told me that originally, only 32 rooms had been available at that rate, but now it looked like 36 were booked for that rate, so the EVO staff must have called in and reserved more. But just my luck, all 4 additional rooms were already booked!
What the fuck?!?!
The woman told me to call back today and talk to the Events Manager about it. Listen, they DON’T want me talking to this guy, because I’m going to rip him a new one.
This hotel is full of shit…if you ask me, they are just lying to try to get EVO to not hit their reservation limit, to give an excuse to not have EVO in Vegas next year. This is really fucking frustrating, and EVO Staff has to take charge and rip them a new one.
I still have nowhere to stay for Thursday, and a LOT of people are probably planning on booking this next week, since it is really the last week you can get the discounted rate. EVO Staff, HELP!
I’m booking on Friday, hope it’s not too late by then since I already paid JetBlue for airline tickets.
