IMPORTANT: Book your rooms through EVO2K!

typically, the deposit is for the first night of stay. But if you cancel after a certain date you lose your deposit. So if you’re gonna back out do it quickly.

Does anyone know how big the rooms are? How many people, how many beds, etc?

I tried the website and couldnt find it.

how old do you have to be to reserve a room?

the rooms are kinda standard 2 bedroom size…you gotta be 21 or older…damn guys u should try splittin it wit me…they run 109 a night…

I will be unable to go to EVO due to work, but I figured I would give you some general answers to questions since for my job I do a lot of business travel, and I went on a lot of trips in college as well.

  1. There are limits on the room, and I have never seen a hotel actually enforce the limit. Just don’t be completely obvious about it.

  2. To do that you will probably have to pay for a room for Thursday night. The hotel will sell you a room then if they have it available, but they won’t let you check in early for free. Normally check out is around noon and then they have to clean the room.

  3. Not sure what you are asking here.

  4. This is easy. Just have one guy check in, and then once you get the key have the rest of the guys bring their bags up to the room. After you are in their your fine, people have guests in hotel rooms all the time, especially in a place like vegas, so no one will think it is weird that you have twenty dudes in your room.

  5. I recommend just biting the bullet, and maybe sharing the room with a few guys. The memories are worth the extra expense now.

do you really need to be 21 or do you just need a credit card?

<—20

you need to be 21 to check in. also, if the rates are too expensive for some of us, its ok to stay in other hotels and still play right? because the suncoast hotel is a little cheaper for me

Whatever fits your budget.
You could stay at any hotel you’d like.
Just as long as you make it to the
tournament on time Mister MegaDS.
I’m counting on you to go.
don’t let me down.
carry on solider. ::smile::

it doesnt matter what hotel u stay in up there…my opinion is that most people wont even go to sleep they will probably just meet up in someones room and play games all night…

Right, it doesn’t matter what hotel you stay in except that EVO will end because you’re trying (and failing) to save a few bucks. People that have stayed somewhere else before will tell you that in terms of time any money you spend on parking, getting a car, gas, time, and convenience, going somewhere else doesn’t really end up being a savings at all. I know you won’t listen to that though…

I don’t know how much more clearly I can say this so that people understand: If you do not stay at EVO’s host hotel, fighting game tournaments on a larger scale are done. Hotels will (and have already) refuse to rent us their ballrooms if we are not attracting guests. If we don’t fill our room block this year, it’s GGPO to Vegas (we’re already hanging by a thread).

If the players refuse to listen to this, I’m sure we can find somewhere in North Dakota that’s willing to take a chance on letting us book EVO 2007. We spend a ton of time, money, and effort to make these events as good as they can be for you. This includes keeping our registration and entrance costs down (EVO is already cheaper than any remotely comparable event) but if players won’t do the most basic stuff to support the community, then we really have no chance anyway.

have a hotel at westin inn reserved for friday and saturday night. All i was sayin is because that guy is like on a budget so maybe he cant afford to stay there. Its 109 a night. for me (being 21) i can and i did. Luckily for me im in CT so its like only a couple of hours away if that. Most of us that are goin to this tourney age range from 18-26. So i can understand if someone flyin from florida would want to save some cash…u gotta include the ticket, food, taxi to the hotel, etc. With all that included you could easily end up spending about a grand. But i agree to what you are sayin…to have so many younger crowded people in a hotel they probably think something will happen so thats probably why they want peeps goin to the tourney to stay in the hotel to get their share of the profit. i actually think its better cause you can crash and just wake up and go to the area without havin to drive.

I understand being poor and I would never sweat anybody for that. That said, if you’re already spending money to go to EVO, staying at the Red Rock is a very small added expense if you’re splitting a room, and it really makes a big difference.

I also agree with what you said: staying at the Red Rock ultimately saves people money. Rates might be lower someplace else, but you’ll lose that money just getting back and forth to the Red Rock, in addition to the added hassles and wasted time.

Since it ends up being the same, I just want people to understand that it’s really important to our ability to be in a place like Vegas that we represent ourselves and show that we actually bring money into a place (we do, but they don’t SEE that unless you book through “Evolution 2k”). If we can show that, we can continue to move on to bigger and better places instead of getting kicked out of town as deadbeats. This is not something that anyone other than tourney organizers ever have to think about, but it’s really important and a very REAL possibility (getting the boot), so I keep yammering until people recognize.

See you at the Red Rock!

xo,
Seth

the hotel i found was a bit cheaper, but i will try my hardest to stay at the redrock.

Actually it’s NOT all good.

I don’t know what part of this you are not understanding: I’m telling you we can’t HAVE an EVO event if people are not staying at the host hotel. Smaller places don’t have the facilities we need for a big tournament, and also just straight up do not want a bunch of kids running around. Red Rock took a chance on us.

EVO gave DVDs away this year and someone stole the shirts last time (what are you even gonna do with 400 evo shirts?). If you want to help us, stay at the hotel so we do not get kicked out of Vegas.

If you stay somewhere else, there is no more EVO. I’m happy you’re a fan of our stuff, but it ends unless we can book a damn hotel, so if you want to help, enjoy our free DVDs and book a room at the Red Rock with the “Evolution 2k” promotional code.

Seth

Yo is it too late to get down on this?

It’s like 129 on friday and 169 weekend days. That really isn’t that bad, especially if you split the cost with someone.

actually naw it isnt…i mean if you wanted just let me know…im headin down to Stamford CT after work on friday so ill get there around 7pm or 8pm that night…then ill get drunk and mess around wit the other players that are there…

I was wondering what kind of buffet they have.

Just want to confirm that I have until Aug. 1 to get the discount, cuz I won’t be able to book anything for a couple weeks.
