I don’t think people realize how much this may affect attendance. I’m much less likely to go to an event if I have to worry about people yelling “bitch” in my face for ten minutes.

The white guy behind me kept shouting some random shit to encourage hthe other player everytime he hit my Terry.

In all honesty, all this stuff happens cause they take shit outside the game. Friendly shit talk is welcome imo. Potter was talking shit awhile ago, it didn’t make me want to harm him physically. But when someone disrespects you as a human being (fanatiq to me) thats a whole different ball game. Its a matter of respect plain and simple. You call it being a thug i call it being a man. Playing basketball in the schoolyard has more shit talking. I guess some people are just not use to it and can’t handle it. I don’t mind shit talking what so ever I be hearing it since I was a little kid. I guess what you guys can do is sympathize for the people that can’t stand it and don’t shit talk around them during their match.
Oh, hogwash. Basketball trash talk is one on one by people playing each other. It’s not bullshit hoodlumism yelling at people from the side of the court trying to instigate things like you’re Spike Lee at a Pacers-Knicks game.
I’ll trash talk with the best of them (as always, I have the front page local newspaper article to prove this…), but there’s a big fucking difference between “trash talk” and “thug talk” and I for one am glad that there’s a line drawn in the sand here. I go to Evo to watch people play at their top level, not to watch as Johnny Donut’s random personal threats influence a match.
What I realized at this Evo more than any other tournament I’ve ever been to is that there’s a REAL good reason why tourneys often have cordoned off areas for players to play. There was way too much classless garbage bullshit going on this Evo. Grow the fuck up. If your personal problems are really that bad, go to a therapist or anger management instead of sliming everybody else around you with your so-valuable presence.
On the plus side, somebody probably could have made a killing selling earplugs.
I certainly wasn’t around all of it, but I was certainly around enough of it to notice that certain people really didn’t add any value whatsoever other than stealing my goddamned air. Have a little class and respect. It’s not time for golf claps and quiet snake hisses of disappointment, but find enough pride in yourself to not disgrace your family name. =P

Honestly, If it wasnt for games, we prolly would never even talk to each other, so if you let someone insult you as a man, at a damn video game tourney… then you need to realize it cant get that deep, if homie doesnt even know you how can you take his insults serious. You’re there to have a good time, people run there mouth all the time, and eventually they get whats comming to them. I just dont like the fact that everyone is a actor, all that taunting and other bullshit is all the same. There is only one reason why trash talk in the NFL, NBA, MLB, doesnt result in a fist fight every single game or play; Its the fact that these are Jobs, while we’re just playing some video games.
It’s funny when you guys act as if trash talk is just that, “trash talk”. Its not, all that running your mouth could get you a mouth full of fist, it happens more than you think, people get sore, feel embarassed, get there feelings hurt, whatever the case is. Have you heard some of the shit that is said at a basketball game, or at any sports game, Tennis and maybe Golf are the only sports I’ve yet to hear trash talking any where in the game. The fans at these sporting events are worst than anyone at Evo could ever be. Ever been to a Charger/Raider game, the shit is serious some guy said fuck the Raiders, screaming at the whole team, and it could be heard; he was close enough to the sidelines, later that night the same charger fan took 7 stab wounds to the stomach. Its not that serious, but that type of shit will be a part of things that are entertaining and competitive.
It doesn’t make a difference if sports fans are worse. Shit talking to the point of threatening someone is retarded. I’m honestly suprised that some people still think that it’s acceptable.
