Impactclash Fighting game Tourney June 28th @ GA World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA

Zenith Gaming league is hosting it’s first Impact clash (www.impactclash.com) Fighting Game Tournament in Atlanta, GA at the Georgia World Congress Center on June 28th, 2008 in room C205. An excellent venue location as it is located downtown and easily accessible. You can easily ride the Marta train straight there and get right off and be right at the Georgia World Congress Center. Don’t live near the Marta line? Any of you not around the Marta line, if you live in other surrounding counties of Fulton you can catch your county’s transit line and transfer over to Marta’s transit line (you can transfer free of charge). Remember, Clayton County, Cobb County, and Gwinnett County, all have transits which link up to Marta.

I highly advise you all NOT to drive as the traffic is horrific and you will be charged to park ($10). Just park at a Marta train station (free to park $1.75 to ride) and ride to the GWCC or hop on a bus that will take you to the train station to ride to the GA World Congress Center.

For anyone bringing televisions or other heavy equipment which must be driven by car I managed to get them to give me free parking passes. So, let me know if you plan on driving to the World Congress and you are bringing a projector, or projector screen, or arcade cabinet and I will give you one of the free complimentary parking pass along with a free entry into the tournament for you and one additional person as well. We really need a projector and screen or arcade cabinets for use at this tournament.

Here’s the breakdown as far as getting in cheaper if you bring equipment:

  • If you bring a copy of a game we can use $5 off entry fee OR If you bring a VCR (No DVD Recorders) we can use $5 off as well. We don’t really need that many VCRs though so make sure you contact me first if you plan on bring it.
  • If you bring a machine, game, and television you get free entry for you and I’ll let a you bring one spectator with you free of charge (i.e. girlfriend, mother, etc. who is NOT participating in any events.).
The following systems would be appreciated:

Playstation 2s
Dreamcasts
Playstation 3s
Xbox 360s
Wiis

As of right now, anyone bringing a Playstation 3 with Tekken 5: DR will get free entry into the tournament. We need more units for that game. Please, make sure you PM or state in this thread if you are bringing anything.

  • If you bring an arcade cabinet or projector and screen, you get a free entry into the tournament along with a friend of yours.

So there you have it, for anyone wanting a break in the entry fee just bring equipment with you. Remember, whatever you bring will be used by many people so make sure you keep a watch over it. There’s only one entrance into the room where we are having the tournament and we will have a list of people signing in with what equipment they bought. Basically the wristband (which you wear to get in the tournaments) all have unique numbers on them. We put a sticky on your console or equipment with the same number that’s on your wrist band. If you leave with equipment (TVs and consoles) we will check at the front to see if the number on your console matches up with the number on your wrist band. That way, we can ensure the right equipment leaves with the right person. However, we cannot have any responsibility for lost or stolen items but we will try our best to prevent this.

Remember only if your equipment is being used will you get a discount. Make sure you tell me early what you are bringing by either PMing me or contacting me on AIM. If you don’t tell me and just bring something and we have no use for it I cannot give you a break on the entry fee so PM me.

If you do drive make sure you park in the Yellow parking lot. That is the closest parking lot to our venue.

If you are booking a hotel make sure it’s near a Marta train station and that they offer free shuttle service to the train station. Remember, most hotels around the surround Atlanta are and within Atlanta will offer a free shuttle to the nearest train station. So, theoretically you can book anywhere, just make sure it’s near a Marta train station so you can catch a ride. The last thing you want is to book a hotel across the street from the GWCC as it’s very expensive.

All of the games will be played on consoles unfortunately as we do not have access to any arcade cabinets. If anyone would like to donate any to the tournament feel free to email or IM me directly.

Remember, there’s a Starbucks, and several different awesome restaurants located within the GA World Congress Center and also within walking distance of it. No need to leave the facility or go very far away just to get something to eat. This will make things much easier for all of you I’m sure.

Time: It is scheduled to begin around 12 p.m. We have the spot rented out all the way until midnight so we’ll have plenty of time. If anyone would like to inquire about when a tournament is starting or how far into it we are feel free to call us directly at (678) 436-3234. This number will only work the day of the tournament.

It will be a bring your own controller/stick tournament. We are not responsible for your equipment so make sure you keep up with it. Make sure your equipment is functioning properly as if any malfunctions or intermittent during any matches will cause you to forfeit the match in progress. For this reason we discourage the use of any wireless controllers/sticks. The judges will be the sole one determining the outcome if any problems like this were to occur.

Buttom mapping/shouldering will not be allowed unless explicitly stated in the rules. Button mapping is when you program one button to input two buttons at once. (I.E. Lp+RP) This is not allowed. It is fine if you need to re-program your buttons at the beginning of the match any way you need to but not in this manner. So if for example you are playing a traditional street Fighter game your buttons should be:

Light Punch
Medium Punch
Fierce Punch
Light Kick
Medium Kick
Roundhouse

That’s it. No triple punch or triple kick.

We plan on making this a yearly event if everything goes right. We’ll have a website up very soon to promote this event as well. If anyone has any input or suggestions feel free to email, PM, or IM me. Let me know of any ways to make the tournament better or any extra rules needed as I am not perfect and I will listen to what users have to say.

Would you like to see a game listed for tournament play which is not her? Let us know and we’ll make sure to add any game that people request which can be played tournament style on consoles. Just PM me or write a post in this thread and we’ll make it happen. We’d be no where with you, the community.

Also, we will offer a pass on the entry fee or a reduced rate for anyone who can bring any type of equipment (PS2s, Dreamcasts, Xbox 360s, Televisions or projectors, arcade cabinets or anything else.) Let us know if anyone is bringing or can provide anything to make this tournament experience better.

Remember, unless your name is on this list I cannot guarantee free or discounted entry at the door so please let me know on this list if you can bring anything with you so you won’t waste time bringing games we may not use as I cannot give you a discount on the venue if we don’t use them.

Sounds hype. Count me and at least a few others in on that marvel.:woot:

That’s fine, my other pre-registration thread was deleted so I guess this will be the thread to post about pre-registration. Remember, anyone bringing any equipment will get a break on the entry fee as long as you are bringing equipment that we can use.

Count me in on CVS2,3S,Super Turbo, and Alpha 3. I’ll be happy to bring a PS2 if it can be used.

Oh,and you should probably ban Shin Akuma from Alpha 3.

I added it. Thanks for the reminder. Shin Akuma is epic proportions of cheapness.

Just to let everyone know I added Arcana Heart well as Guilty Gear to the tournament also! And remember, I plan on making a DVD of all the matches that happen that day as well. I’m praying Super Street Fighter Turbo: HD Remix will be out by then.

Any chance of getting an SNK action there?

What SNK games would you like to see there? Let me know and I’ll make it happen. Also, let me know of whatever rules must apply to make a tournament in the given game run smoothly.

It’s always good to see more tournaments popping up in the ATL.

If anyone else has any other games they would like to see there which aren’t on the list let us know. Make sure to let me know of the correct rules for tournament style game play as well. And if you see any tournaments posted and there are major rules missing which can affect tournament play make sure to let me know.

Where do i pre reg.?

You can pre-register using this thread! I will have the list of those whom pre-register at the day of the tournament.

No Brawl? I would think that’d catch you a high attendance, no?

I’d love to have it but I am not certain about the rules in tournament play. If someone could write me up some rules and explain to me how SSMB tournaments are done I’ll gladly add it. I don’t have any clue as I’ve never ran one in the past and it’s not a traditional fighter. After all, four people can fight at once. If anyone can help I’ll add it to the roster.

I havnt played in like 2 years but this sounds fun

I might try and make it

Alright, it’s time we turn this into a real registration thread. If you want to register write this in your post:

Name:
Games you want to pre-register for sign up for:
Any equipment (if you’re bringing it) you plan on bringing besides a controller:
Your hometown:

this is the usual tourney settings for brawl

Double Elimination
Regular Brawls: Best two of three
Championship Brawl: Best three of five
Items: Off (including Smash Balls)
Stock: Three
Time Limit: 6:00

Neutral Stages:

Battlefield
Final Destination
Smashville
Yoshi’s Island

Counterpicks:

Castle Siege
Delfino Plaza
Luigi’s Mansion
Lylat Cruise

As far as the stage thing goes, thats mostly up to the tourney host to decide.

I’ll be there for Accent Core either way. gotta practice up:woot:

Before I add this to the tournament are the tournaments always 1v1 and never FFA? Personally I can see problems with FFA because the best player can be ganged up on and I see quite a bit of luck involved. Or everyone ganging up on the person with low health to finish them off.

I’ll take your advice and do 3 stocks and a six minute limit. If anyone would like to see any other games there we’ll try out best to fit them in. Make sure you write what game you’d like to see and any rules to insure that a fair, tournament playing style. I’m looking forward to this event.

Hey what’s the game/round setup for Doa4?

I was thinking best two of three matches. Two out of three rounds. Just like the default set up. However for Tekken 5: DR it’s going to be best three out of five matches and two out of three rounds. Let me know if you’d like it differently or if anyone objects to the way it is. If the community so wishes, I’ll make the proper changes to make them happy.
