Yes, and your point is taken. But my love for fighting games will always make me have a bias towards them. The main focus will not be lost but if I have to allow other genres to enter the tournament so that the tournament as a whole will have sponsors, prizes, and move forward then that is a sacrifice that unfortunately I must make.
But fighting games will not be dropped specifically because of these other genres coming in. They will be dropped solely because they don’t have enough pre-registrations. I’ll still try my best to have them if they seem promising but games like Battle Fantasia (which only has one pre-registration so far) future doesn’t look so bright. But I will still give it a chance regardless since it’s the first time I’ve had that game at my tournament.
No, not at all. But the one I am talking with wants to me to provide them with 2 Wiis and one Xbox 360 along with three televisions for the entire duration of the tournament. All equipment that can be used elsewhere for other games (especially the Wiis). Those are just the accommodations that just must be made for sponsors.
If you still want me on staff we need to get together sometime before the tourney to discuss everything so we are on the same page. If I’m gonna help run it I need to know whats going on when all is set in stone. I’m thinking we should have some sort of meeting in January. Is that cool?
Yeah, that’s fine. If we met up I’d explain everything that’s going on in the background right now. There’s so many potential things that may happen but I don’t want to spill everything out online without full confirmation from the people I’ve been talking to. I just simply put together a media kit, and mailed out a ton of them to as many companies as I could without expecting a response. A few responded and I’ve been corresponding with them but as I said, there’s things they want out of me so I have to bend a bit but not break. But yes, we will have a meeting early January so we can all get on the same page and understand everything that will be going on. I appreciate your concern and I promise you I will not disappoint. I am hoping that Madden and NBA2K9 will be enough to hold them over and sponsor me. I really personally do not want to run a Gears 2 tournament.
Yeah, you’re right. We’ll accommodate for that. Would you say it’d be best to run HD remix on Playstation 3 and regular ST on Dreamcasts or run it purely on PS3s the entire time?
I’m actually very interested in coming to this tournament, even though I’ve never been to Impact Clash, it’s always nice to see a Southern venue with a lot of potential.
That said, I have a few questions:
How much space is going to be dedicated to fighting games compared to Brawl? Although I like Brawl, and actually plan to even enter it myself, I’m always wary of the possibility that it’s going to end up with 90% of the place crawling with Smashers and the traditional fighting games shoved into the corner.
How many people do you usually expect for the Capcom/SNK/other2d fighters?
How much space is dedicated to Madden and NBA players?
What would you put the odds on a Madden player randomly shooting or stabbing a Smash player at some point on Saturday? Keep in mind, this is Atlanta.
I’m also willing to help with equipment and brackets in any way I can.
I’m also willing to hold a side tournament for Neo Geo Battle Coliseum or most any other SNK game people want (Garou, SamSho whatever, etc.) if there’s enough time on Saturday night. Is this okay?
As far as SNK games, for KOF XI we get around 10 or so people. For the Capcom stuff its in the 20s.
If you want to hold a side tourney for any SNK games that’d be great(as long as Magnicious is okay with it). SNK is my bag. I went to your side tourney last year at FR.
If you take the a look at the video you’ll see the venue is very huge. I plan on dedicating the other side of the room to Smash, NBA, and Madden (Keep in mind Madden and NBA are not ran by IC but by Konsole Kingz on their hardware but it’s still up in the air if they are coming to run that or not.) The other side of the room will be for the traditional 2D/3D fighters. That way, we can keep the communities separate. In the event that NBA2k9 and Madden DO NOT happen than the other side of the room you saw will be dedicated to Smash. And if you look at the video there’s a ton of inlets in the room. There’s enough power to power up to 100 PCs and trust me, we won’t require near that much power for what we are doing.
Yeah, Metalmike pretty much answered that question.
They will run strictly off two Plasma TVs and two Xbox 360s. I’m not openly advertising the Madden tournament so that it won’t draw too much of a crowd and only those who attend for the fighting game will be interested in the Madden tournament. I don’t want people coming strictly for the Madden tournament though.
Ha ha ha ha, ummm unless they want a first class trip to jail I don’t think they’d want to do that. But yeah, I can see them getting frustrated with them. I’ll try my best to keep the peace.
Either would be excellent. You can run whatever side tournaments you’d like granted we have enough time for it. I have a wireless PA system so you will be able to use the microphone anywhere within the room and be able to talk to people and get them to come to games. It’d be great if you could bring a PS2, some type of games the tournament has, and a TV if possible. Someone with knowledgeable experience with brackets would be an excellent help!
Yeah, I’m perfectly fine with that. Not a problem at all. We are having a meeting early January (I’ll let all of you know around the New Year’s time) and we can all meet up and talk about everything that will go down at IC3. Thanks for the support and I hope to see you all at IC3.
