I'm voting for KOF2K2

Wait I heard that XBOX emulation might be allowed.
This might be a perfect solution to everybodies issues

Our only hope

Xbox emulation please. Thanks.

My only issue would be some minor lag, because emulators tend to do that. But I really mean like minor. Super stupid minor.

well for console its

AC
BD (ps2, and DC)

so the AES converter does

CD
AB ?? (wow thats ass backwards)

i havent played on the ABCD layout in a while. but if i get matches in before the tourney im sure me and other people oculd adjust. i dont understand why SNK does this. the ports of 2k and 98 were great on DC (meaning playable). well im glad theirs no 2k3 on PS2 tourney shit.

well regardless of what its being played on (even ps2) ill be there cause kof is limited as is. Hope every brings their controllers, sticks, converters etc…cause kof sucks when you cant get your moves down.

wow you no config on the AES version? wow hmm maybe x-box is the choice, but im sure that would be frowned on…

…I’m aware that some may view me in a negative light for saying this, but there’s nothing wrong with the PS2 port compared to the original Neo-Geo version and it’s trivial to try to get it changed to anything else, be it the AES original, seeing as there’s no guarantee that the necessary hardware and software will be obtained by then, or a ROM running on an Xbox.

Simply put, you’re wrong. There are noticeable differences for anyone who’s put serious time in to the MVS/Neo Home versions (STOP CALLING IT AES). As I’ve said, I don’t think those differences are serious enough to warrant risking the game’s chances of being in Evo AT ALL… however, if Xbox emulation is being considered for A3 (desperately needed) and Savior, I think switching over to it for 2002 would be a good idea as well since there is no other definitive, feasible (sorry guys… Neo home ain’t happening… give it up) console variation.

I have put serious time into them (I would kind of have to in order to write a character-specific FAQ), but I still haven’t come across anything that I recognized as different from the originals. What are the main noticable differences, then?

LOL LOL

Well this is my last point and probably the most important maybe. I found out about this just lastnite while reading a Thread on neo-geo.com about this same topic.

By MASHING the buttons you can interfere on your opponents combos, so if you are getting beat up just mash the buttons and your opponent will lose the combo. Whats even worst is that is true I just try it lastnite, and what are they going to make a rule “you cant touch the buttons if you are being attacked” lol

Korigama what do you have to say about that, is it still arcade perfect, I didnt know you could do that in the mvs/aes?

lol

This is going to be my only argument from now on

why dont you look at the thread? The answer, myself and other people have given numerous reasons.

the console (ps2) version suffers from hitbox glitches, input lag. although its better than the DC version it can get annoying at times.

but id rather play it on a console than not playing it at all

well after hearing that, kof will probably have to be dropped from the voting process.

sorry!

Nooo Don’t!

Don’t drop the game it can still be ran on X-Box emulation or AES.

Save KOF 2002 and Vote KOF 2002 Desktop

AES is not a option, we cant force people to go out and buy a system that isnt available anymore, just to practice for a game. Xbox roms are illegal.

Maybe someone can figure out of the kof verison on xbox has the exact same glitch.

Unfortunately, I knew nothing of this, seeing as I had no opponents to test that. I appreciate you pointing this out and I will be sure to look into it, but I don’t appreciate the idiotic tone of your reply, especially when I never said at any point that it was arcade perfect, only that I had yet to see anything wrong with it. I noticed no input lag, and the original Neo-Geo versions are known to have odd hit boxes in some instances as well.

And now that '02 is now no longer on the ticket, I hope you’re satisfied.

EDIT: Just tried mashing on another controller in the middle of a combo, nothing happened, so I don’t know where you got that from. Could you post a link to the topic that said this?

UNOFFICIAL KOF 2002 AES TOURNEY AT THE BYOC ROOM ON EVO 2005 !

I just wanna play RF

Btw, I didnt know about this issue of the mashing buttons combo break glitch on the ps2 version …

Still not believing this button mash glitch, but I do owe an apology in regards to the controls for the PS2 version: if you have a newer Dual Shock 2, one where the D-pad isn’t worn in with time, then pulling off most moves consistently is, in fact, impossible; I found this out after switching between my old controller and the one that came with my new PS2, the case being that the old one works just fine, and the newer one is pretty much useless.

Just listen to the people on this. I think 90% of KOF players would rather have an official ps2 tourney than Neos in the BYOC area. It’s obvious the answer loathes the ps2 version, but he is by far not the voice for all KOF players.

All I can say is wow this really sucks. If the combo break glitch is for real it’s good people heard of it now and not have it used on them in EVO. Imagine the chaos and bitching that would cause.

I really wanted to see KOF in EVO so this X-Box version better be glitch free. It’s supposivly online so all the big problems with the PS2 should be worked out I hope.

I still want proof of this glitch; it’s not that I won’t believe it, but I need to see someone else mention it.

I totally understand your position on AES Wiz, but I don’t see how you can’t use Xbox roms or Superguns if they’re being considered for A3 and VS. Not trying to start trouble or be a dick… just trying to clarify why it’s okay for those games which have no other quality port and not KoF?

Whatever. It sounded too good to be true anyways.

Technically we’re fucked either way, either:

a) We get the PS2 version, which sucks dick, or
b) We get the Xbox version, which a friend has imported and tells me sucks as much dick

The Xbox version reportedly doesn’t fuck up when you mash like mad when you’re being comboed, though, so who knows. To be honest though, Wizard, the AES version should seriously, seriously be considered. The people who would enter this tournament have an inordinately high likelyhood of understand the differences between the versions of the game, as would anyone else who seriously signed up for such a tournament. The people who are obviously signing up just to sign up likely don’t know any better anyways.

It seems rather pointless to only put the shitty version of an SNK up against what seems to be possibly emulated versions of a Capcom game. Why don’t you just ask for permission from SNK or something, like some sort of sponsorship with a little sticker that says “SNK APPROVES THIS TOURNAMENT (even if the hardware ain’t fo’ reaaaaal)”? I dunno.

Whatever, though, I’ve pretty much already given up on this even being run. If this gets played on Xbox, I’d be impressed.

Take the game out of the voting

You people are a joke. Eight pages of whining. All youre doing is making SURE that the game wont be a part of Evo. Instead of sucking it up and trying to adapt (dont give me the “its impossible” bullshit - cant adapt? Then die already!), you act like a buncha kids, ignoring MrWizards posts, stomping your feet and crying.

I hope youre proud.
