I want to go back to the old SRK when my username did not exist.
I can understand SF4 players not liking this game, for similar reasons why they don’t like MVC.
Combos being creative is the point of IPS… learning combos becomes difficult… both for you and your opponents… fine.
SF4 has been way too defensive… SG being aggressive without being the madness that is Marvel in terms of speed is a good compromise, imo.
Folks want new players in the scene… but if new players are complaining about stuff in week 2 (MvC3 Sentinel - oh so broken)… you can’t call us elitist for calling you out. Yes the IPS system makes for stronger resets… and you have to learn the normals… but we do that for every other game.
If you don’t like the game, then fine. Stop crapping all over the front page and complaining about stuff before the game has been out a month because ‘deal with it’ isn’t in your vocabulary.
Hellz no. Early MVC2 was fill-the-screen-with-garbage and death-by-1000-cuts (or, AHVB).
Again, Magneto is really the only relevant reset character in MVC2, and Magneto only started resetting when people figured out that you could consistently mash out of hypergrav->tempest (because before that, there was no need to reset).
Well there’s no doubt there will always be supporters for any given game, but more support from a wider audience = more resources for future updates for Mike Z and what not. I’m definitely not trying to say “do this or do that” but I think there’s been a bit of a backlash towards people trying to offer constructive criticism of the game when most of us would just like to see it do it’s best.
It’s like if I buy a new car and tell the dealer that the breaks don’t work and then the dealer tells me to come back in a year and see if the breaks still don’t work. Some stuff is pretty apparent even early on in a games life.
If long combos are not a problem, why does IPS exist, again?
I don’t have a problem with long combos. But the length of the combos should somewhat correspond to the “craziness” of the game. This game is Marvel-lite (somewhere between Marvel and GG) and yet every character in this game is busting Dante combos on week 3.
Brakes. Are you actually 27?
Anyhow, the example isn’t great because the game in its current form isn’t broken, or has yet to be proven so.
Brakes not working - well hell, it’s apparent that they don’t work when you first start the car up.
It’s like the game not having a proper training mode- that I can argue with said example.
and what gives you that taking out said “problem” would give the game a wider support?
who are you and some other folks that are not the majority to say that taking out something that its part of the vision of the game would make it better, do you have a crystal ball, do you represent the average joe, did they choose you as their representant?
also your analogy is not pertinent neither correct, from your position, the correct analogy is something like
you are a justin biebber fan, and you dont like how a death metal band plays, so you tell them that they should play songs and sing like justin biebber, that way they would get support from a wider audience
Apparently people are saying the new auto tech/block gems in SFxT are even worse than XF. Oh and yes…at least there’s no stuff that makes your character overbearingly powerful for long periods of time.
long, repetitive combos are not inherently bad
and
1-touch kills (ToDs) are not inherently bad
…then why does IPS need to exist at all?
And please, do not try to sell the story that Parasoul’s tear loops are “not really repetitive” because last loop started with s.LK but this loop started with c.LK (and the next loop starts with s.MP). The defender (and spectator… but I repeat myself) experience is the same.
Because how easy are TODs and long combos compared to repeating ONE IDENTICAL LOOP with NO CHANGE IN TIMING ad infinitum?
Do you WANT Ms. Fortune to c.LK her head until you die? Or would you rather have at least SOME window where she may drop the combo and a chance for you to escape? I would ask for a chance to escape, and I’m sure you would too.
So the argument against infinites is not that they kill on one touch, not that they are boring and repetitive, but that they are not sufficiently difficult to execute?
Really? What does spelling even have to do with age? It’s phonetically the same. Get over yourself.
Well to be fair this game doesn’t have a proper training mode. No record feature, no state changes for the opponent, no input display, etc etc. Double’s butt assist is blatantly broken. Combos being what they are, they’re not broken, but I have yet to meet many people that were hype to see a combo like Parasoul’s tear drop loop in the corner where it’s just the same chain over and over 4-5 times just starting with different normals. Or the painwheel bounce combo that’s just her doing the same chain into a ground bounce into flight repeatedly. Or the double j.HK > barrel loop. Or the omnomnom loop. Or… you get the point.
It’s just opinion but of the wide majority of people I have personally talked to about the game, this has always come up.
Yet most of the combos in this game ARE repetitive loops. They just don’t go on indefinitely.
Wider support in the context of more people IN THE FIGHTING GAME COMMUNITY playing the game. I know this game probably won’t ever have mass appeal, but even just appealing to more members of the competitive fighting game community would be good.
I’m not just some random capcom zombie, I really like skullgirls. I don’t like some of the issues that have popped up with the game, and I’m voicing my opinion. I can’t speak for the majority but I can speak for myself and the people I’ve talked to that share similar opinions.
IPS exist to stop combos from going infinitely and braindead loops, you can never repeat the same sequence ever once you reach stage 3, it’s pretty simple really.
and why is so difficult for you to get that not everything in the market is mean for everything
the same applies for fighting games
the game has a philosophy and a vision of how its designed, and the target market is people who likes and shares the same vision
not for the people who would like it if the game is changed to your liking
long combos are stated as not been a problem for mike, the ips is designed to allow them, its stated that the ips is working as intended, so there is no point on discussing that it would have acceptance to a wider audience, if said audience wants the game to b different to what conceptually is
