Just letting you guys know if you do a little “too much” (assists, attacks with over the top special effects, oni souls, beastly combos) on that stage there will be a very miniscule amount of framerate dropping. It hasn’t gotten to the point where the timing for the combos I’ve been doing are screwed up but it might affect more intricate and precisely timed combos. For the people who don’t like to mash in their combos and like to press the button exactly when they are supposed to, try to avoid this stage.
Just something to watch out for. If you need 100% framerate at all times then don’t pick this stage obviously…
This might not be the case for the arcade version or my Wii might just suck somehow…but it definitely slows down slightly. At least enough to make it noticeable to me.
I already put a rule out on this stage for the TvC tournament I’m running this weekend. It basically says that if it comes up in random, either player may decide to reroll the random to get a new stage. I added the rule mainly for colorblind people.
This is wack. Banning little things here and there and attempting to enforce aspect ratios as standard will ruin the potential scene for this game. Just deal with it and adjust accordingly.
Umm…dude relax I never suggested a ban I just put a notice out to all the players who might unknowingly pick this stage because it looks “cool” and wonder why some of their combos aren’t working out for them. And banning a stage doesn’t change the game ONE BIT. They’re all essentially the same, the only difference is the background. So who cares?!
And in case you haven’t noticed, the aspect ratio thing is a HUGE deal for characters that depend on wall bounce combos (luckily my characters don’t need walls) but a lot of other people will be screwed over. Maybe you haven’t played enough to know how this affects you yet but I think you’d be pissed off if you were playing on a 4:3 with Ryu and you couldn’t do any extended combos with wallbounces.
Sorry, I think that came out angrier than it was intended. It was mainly a response to Keits post. My bad on that.
I just don’t think that all these little rules need to be in place. Even if I mained Ryu, I’d be a little upset yeah, but not to the extent to suggest enforcing an aspect ratio that isn’t even consistent across US arcades. The combos still work aside from a few specific positioning situations (backed into the corner only?), and if the positioning is off, you can probably still adjust to take most of the same damage. Dash up 2b works from quite a distance.
Keits said that they could decide to get a different stage, it’s not forcing anybody to do anything. I don’t see what the big deal is. I think it’s a good idea, because it might bother some people. Otherwise, feel free to play there.
im not sure a standard needs to be chosen, but you do need to announce which aspect ratio your tournament is using so people cn practice acordingly.
and the fire stage is wack. you dont have to allow people the option to get off that stage at your events if you dont want to, but im allowing it at mine.
That’s cool that you consider color blind people, my friend is color blind in almost every way possible. We used to pick Cable’s that looked exactly the same as his for kicks.
its just a stage- it doesn’t add anything to the gameplay, so banning it isn’t like banning items (and stages) in smash.
if the frames drop on that stage (or even just for the colorblind people) then i say hell yeah you may choose not to play in it…
That makes sense. I don’t know…it’s just that I don’t think it should matter that much and the fact that there isn’t a soft reset means tournaments could be slowed down.
What’s the issue with color blindness on this stage? I’m sensitive to the issue being I’m color blind myself, so I can’t play Magical Drop/Puzzle Fighter or always see the meter amount correctly in GGAC, but I didn’t notice anything on this stage. Plus the fire is cool.
I’m not denying that it may be an issue for some, but out of curiosity, where is the problem? Is it characters blending in with the fire background since they’re shaded differently?
I think its that the framedrop affects timing specific combos. That’s the only concern. And I can see that being a problem for up canceled Aerial Raves that use that last extra hit before finishing the combo. If your timing is off, you miss and they land, and you just lost a possible 8k.
TvC is a fun game and a lot of “smashers” have been playing other fighters for the longest now, you just wouldn’t know unless they told you. I just happen to have it on my sig so you you probably think this is new…but it’s not.
There are several issues on that stage for all three of the more comon types of colorblindness. The characters get red lighting on them, so their colors change. This causes it to be nearly impossible to tell apart some mirror matches on this stage for color blind folk. (Purple and blue rock vollnut, white and offwhite casshern, even red and pink saki, etc).
On top of that, characters wears hues in the red spectrum will often just dissapear into the background, making it difficult or impossible to see what they are doing. Red ryu is a prime example of this, but ive also lost complete track of red V.Joe and red Saki and red Polymer and red roll…(even when im playing as them!).
I don’t think he meant anything by it. I kind of assumed that Tatsunoko vs. Capcom would be a popular game to crossover to for smashers for the sheer fact that they have a Wii.
