I’m pretty sure the list is supposed to consist only of shows that aired on US stations. If ReBoot did air on a US station…:bluu:
It’s on my list XD
My list is godlike.
And it did. I’m not sure how you got the impression that it didn’t.
Okay?
Very good list but you are forgetting some :wgrin:
Family Guy being in the top 10 is a joke, top 50 is still pushing it. It’s not as over the top as South Park and nowhere near as witty. Show fell of hard since season 4. Respect for The Simpsons even though I don’t enjoy it anymore, the episodes from around 1995 are untouchable as far as I’m concerned.
I was disappointed by the lack of Rocko and Samurai Champloo should have been on that list.
FMA @ 95 is hilarious, half the shows in that list are toss and it’s 100x better than them. I’d say the Family Guy placement is worthy (even though most of you seem to hate it), though the show has slipped with the last couple of seasons. I still found the seventh more random than ever and provided quite the giggle.
I think the list should have been limited to North American produced cartoons. As others have said, some deserving shows such as Rocko’s would’ve otherwise made the list if they weren’t bumped off by the animes.
Seasons 3 - 8 of The Simpsons are untouchable.
Look up the episode lists on wikipedia. Each one is a classic.
Boondocks being in the 90’s is also a travesty. I have to agree you minii FG has slipped. I still enjoy it though. It looks like ill have to dl mighty max. Still kinda peeved at the ending but i guess having to go through it all again makes it a breeze… time do over hax ftw…
Oh shit what about jayce and the wheeled warriors? and pirates should have got a mention… it was great… another show which didnt have an ending :annoy:
I remember that. Monbaby created that thread and ran the poll. It’s tricky to find right now since his archived posts only go back to 2008.
If anyone cares I did one for favorite comic book characters in the Comic Book Forum. There were so many ties with characters that had 2 votes, so I rounded it out to 45. Pretty good list - and still better than IGN’s 100 comic book characters list IMHO heh.
Nice to see Vixen on the list, but lack of The Question, Booster Gold, or Gambit is saddening.
GTFO with that Huckleberry Hound over Tom and Jerry stuff.
I am have to throw this entire list under the bus for having not having masterpiece works like Samurai Jack and Gargoyles not be in at least the top twenty if not top ten.
I am ashamed to say that it took me until just last week to find (accidentally) and pick up Gargoyles Season 2 Vol. 1. But rewatching the show has got me pumped, the show episodes were great and as a kid I didn’t nearly catch on all the great elements of history, literature and just good story telling they managed to include in the show.
Add in the complete absence of shows like Mighty Max, Reboot, Mobile Suit Gundam (1979 original), Beast Wars and other great shows, with the inclusions of stuff like Star Trek: The Animated Series (didn’t know there was one), Josie and the Pussycats (WTF?), The recent Clone Wars show (Decent show but top 100? No sir), Gundam Wing (I don’t hate Wing but no way should it be on the list) or some of the choices, completely invalidates this list IMO.
OP should paste curio’s list into the first post…
Anyway, it’s nice to see The Critic and Home Movies on that list. I’m a little disappointed that Gigantor isn’t mentioned at all, though.
I’ve only seen a few episodes of Evangelion, but ranking it 10th all time is a bit much.
Also, no Garfield & Friends?
I really do not care about lists, but this is fucking with my childhood man!
I knew this list was fucked when I saw the Flintstones at #9. THE FUCKING FLINTSTONES!!!
Without that first animated adult sitcom there would be no Simpsons. It paved the way for studios to realize a mature sitcom-ish cartoon could work. They put it behind Futurama!? What the fuck ever. I love Futurama, but come on now! I agree with the first one though.
Dragonball Z should be way higher on that list too. The influence, character recognition, and overall loyalty to this franchise can not be ignored. I think it should be at least in the 40’s, or even top 30’s. Shit, this is Japan’s equivalent to Superman and people in the U.S at this shit up too. Justice League unlimited was great, but it was because of the iconic characters in in. Not because of the cartoon. DBZ should be higher.
Transformers should be higher…nuff said.
I like Naruto, but it should be WAY behind DBZ. Neo Genesis was great, but I think it was place a bit to high. A little lower…maybe in the teens.
There is more, but I can not understand their logic. They are placing iconic characters behind some random shit. Then when inserting anime they kind of screw up the whole list because that should have its own grading system. They are not going by influence, run-time, or even noteworthy. Almost as if they picked the top 15, and the rest was a put on random.
Fuck this list. I have my own dammit!
Yea, TF should’ve cracked the top 20 and been put ahead of GI Joe.
The cartoon was a 30-minute toy commercial and is constantly re-inventing itself into newer cartoons, movies, and comics. It’s still ticking…30 years later. You can’t say that about a lot of the series on this list.
I’d be okay with putting either the Flintstones or Looney Toons at #1. The Simpsons, despite jumping the shark, should still be in the top 10.
Rorschach (Watchmen) is based on The Question. Moore channeled Rorschach to be a lot more like his creator Steve Ditko (artist behind Spider-Man also), if you’ve ever read one of Ditko’s articles (rants…) you’ll know what I mean. Rorschach is on the list. Heh, Rorshach is more The Question than The Question is.
The comic book variant of Question is dead, replaced by Renee Montoya who is the new Question. Out of sight, out of mind.
Gambit hasn’t been a major player in X-Men comics since the 90s. Writer Mike Carey’s done a few good things with him in recent years.
Booster Gold has been a bigger player that Gambit, but not in a major way really. Remembered fondly by most readers as being a douche bag in 52.
I’m well aware of the fact that Rorschach was based on the The Question. And I noticed he was on the list. Regardless, the Charlie Sage Question is still too awesome. I’ve got a lot of comics from back when he was on DC’s “mature line.”
Renee Montoya Question is eh to me. Their shared story arc in 52 was interesting, but I haven’t kept up with her since.
Should do another greatest comicbook characters list again. Peoples opinions may well have changed since then.
We did it along with the last Presidential Election, maybe in 2010 when there’s another Election. 2012 would probably be better.
Heh, still got all of characters featured in Capcom fighters, I think we did alright - or at least well enough not to get negged by FGD peeps for not voting Sentinel…
