MOJO JOJO = Criminal Mastermind

Btw where the eff is Megas XLR?
This man speaks the truth.
No Freakazoid/Animaniacs in the top ten? This list is no longer relevant to my interests.
Simpsons could go on for another 50 years and it would still be the best cartoon in existence because of the early seasons.
John Swartzwelder was beyond broken.
And the only reason Animaniacs was worth watching was because of Pinky and the Brain. When they got their own show, it was a wrap.
Powerpuff girls> most of those shows. They had so many lil slick innuendos in the show and it was generally just a good show all around
I like 13 ghosts of scooby doo the most
As a modest anime fan, I guess I have to throw my hat into the ring with a couple of “wtf” moments with IGN’s poor decision making.
As much as I hate Doug, it does deserve to be on that list; same with Rocko. Beast Wars… I kinda remember growing up on that, so maybe it deserved a spot somewhere. I’m personally out on Megas and Heathcliff (didn’t watch enough of them), and Garfield and Friends needed a spot too.
FLCL’s absence was the definitive “WTF was IGN smoking when they made this list” for me. Of course, when I ran across specs’s comment:
It all makes perfect sense.
FLCL was six episodes of pure crystallized anime goodness; TTGL was 26-or-so episodes of extreme manliness taken to the extreme… in a manly way. Yet the likes of Death Note, FMA and Naruto top them? How the hell in God’s green goodness does that even pass through any means of reasonable logic?
FMA is good, yes. It’s still inferior to GitS, which ran three movies and fifty-something episodes of philosophical mindcrunching that ranks, in all likelihood, better than NGE’s mind-screwing. But since FMA ran at least twice as long (if not longer) than GitS and had less movies, IGN gave them the “humanity-questioning with action anime” spot.
DBZ… yeah, ranked too low. If IGN properly ranked anime on that list, it’d break down to (roughly):
Top-10/top-5/top-tier: Bebop
11-20: Speed Racer (for being the first real successful anime stateside), FLCL
21-40: Eva, TTGL
41-60: DBZ, GitS
71-100: Naruto, Astro Boy, Battle of the Planets (…where the hell was this?), FMA
Of course, this is only going by what’s only been even demi-popular stateside. If Black Lagoon’s third season hits it big, I’d expect to see it somewhere on this list. Anime fanboys would have a field day lambasting them for not including the likes of Haruhi or Code Geass.
I’m honestly shocked Looney Tunes isn’t on number 1. Easily the most influential and popular cartoon series of all time.
Batman and Loony Tunes are essentially perfect cartoons, so they’re rightly placed. The Simpsons is rightly placed because its first 10 seasons or so basically define animated comedy. It set the bar, and the bar hasn’t moved since.
I do have to question how this list was made. Did one person make it? In that case, 100 choices is a pretty unmanageable task. Past a certain point, you’re scraping the sides of the barrel, choosing arbitrary slot numbers, and so on. Did multiple people make it? In that case, you’ve got several different sets of standards at work, which makes any attempt at a unified list basically pointless. Was it democratic? Who was polled? Meh.
They shouldn’t have even included anime on the list.
I submit. I forgot about him.
I still do want to kill myself just because Rocko isn’t on there. Totally inexcusable.
If Haruhi continues to be the quality that season 1 was then i would place it on a top 10 list easily.
FLCL should have ben the list deffinitly. It’s much better then NGE and more poignant as well. It managed to make its point in a perfectly balanced 6 episodes of pure awesome. It’s budget holds out (Amazing for a Gainax show) and its music is beyond brilliant.
Man fuck NGE lol.
I think the new FMA is infinitely better the the first Anime. I was disappointed to see it make the list at all.
You were able to stand Flim-Flam? AND Scrappy? TOGETHER?! Scrappy alone was the death-cry (as adding a kid to any established cartoon cast has been since the beginning of time), but then they added ANOTHER kid: Flim Flam (was FF a girl or a boy?)…god, the fail was STRONG with in one.
I share your disappointment. :bluu:
Talked about Reboot in my IT class for like 45 min today. Show was epic.
ReBoot rocked ass. One of my biggest regrets is never seeing the end of that series. I can still remember the last episode I saw, too - MegaByte had tricked Bob and sent him into the Web, and Enzo had become the new Guardian. He then promptly got his ass kicked in - ironically enough - a fighting game, and the episode ended with The User winning and Dot getting all emo.
Looking back with the knowledge I now have concerning the predictability of cartoons, there is no fucking way Enzo died in that episode.
I completely agree. Im not big at all into cartoons or animated shows or whatever, but Looney Tunes is one of the most influential shows (not just cartoons) of all time. Way more than Batman, I guess Simpsons is arguable for some, but not for me.
Scooby Doo should be 24 million.
Beavis and Butt-head. 5. WHAT?
And really, what’s the point of having so many…a top 100?!
GTFO.
I gaurantee they didn’t go through that much effort to distinguish the difference between #78 and #73. Or #73 and #41 for that matter. What does it really matter?
All semantics.
I agree with goodm0urning about Looney Tunes. You just don’t see that kind of quality anymore. The lengths those animators went to to produce it are ridiculous. Computer animation is getting better, but it still doesn’t compare to hand drawn.
