IGN.com's top 100 animated series

Fantastic list…oh the memories!

I don’t remember how long she dated Jane’s bro (Trent?), but she did go out with another guy in one of the later seasons, but they broke up in the last episode. This was the period where Daria would actually smile when it wasn’t at someone’s misfortune, which was probably the farthest departure of her character since the start.

Looking over the list again, no Exosquad is a downer. I didn’t watch much of that series, but what I remember was still better than some of the other stuff on that list. The representation of the entire DCAU (sans Static if it counts) in the list is very nice, though.

The Disney Afternoon shows placement are welcome, but weird. I thought they maintained a pretty steady quality between them all, but DuckTales is near the top, Chip 'N Dale in the middle, and TaleSpin at the bottom.

tmnt and x-men not being in the top 10 = fail

Wing was the only Gundam that was popular in the United States. I remember when it was at it’s height, you could walk into Toys R Us and buy Gundam toys and models.

Bandai + Cartoon Network messed up Gundam’s popularity in the US. Not on purpose, it just sort of happened.

After Wing they aired the original Gundam series. Now I love the original series. That joint animation-wise does not hold up very well. You can’t get a kid who has been watching all of the shiny mecha on Wing to sit through Amuro flying in space while he’s standing up. Again I love the original series, it just looks really bad compared to a lot of anime that was on TV at time.

Then they gave G Mobile Fighter. You probably don’t need me to tell you that it’s a kid show and is not for everybody. So at best it confused or turned off most of the audience. Heh, Toys R Us had a hell of a time trying to sell that Gundam that looked like a Bull, what was it called - Toro Gundam? Stores where flooded with them.

Next was 8Th MS Team, which Cartoon Network aired at a messed up slot and left of the final episode for no reason at all.

By the time Seed came around the audience was gone.

Bandai further messed up when they tried to sell the CGI Gundam Igloo series DVDs the same way they did in Japan. In Japan, people have no problem paying 80 dollars for TWO EPISODES. No one in the US, even the most hardcore fan is not going to do that.

Which brings us to 00. Cartoon Network doesn’t want Gundam anymore so now it’s on SciFi. I have no idea how the first season did but it has been flagged as Gundam’s last chance to be successfull in the United States. They are not showing reruns which is always a problem, but they are re-running the crap out of Gurren Lagann - which is hella popular and also a Bandai show. I guess when the DVDs of 00 come out then maybe we’ll be able to gauge how popular it is.

Strongly doubt we’ll ever be able to get Gundam models at Toys R Us again but oh well…

Um yeah the list sucks just like every list IGN makes. What can you do. :looney:

If this list included Canadian shows, ReBoot would’ve made the list for sure.

Cool that they added Spectacular Spider-Man (and to whoever it was that asked, yes, it’s that good), but what about Wolverine and the X-Men? That show’s pretty beastly too. No arguments with their #1 pick…I’d be surprised if they didn’t choose The Simpsons. Family Guy, though…WTF.

Lies. Zim was ingenious.

Reading through here, I also must throw my hat into the “Daria should be on that list” group.

ducktails and darkwing duck are god tier. LETS GET DANGEROUSSS.

Was dexter or Power puff girls on the list?

He’s not stupid, he’s advanced

That list was fail. Thing’s all kittywhompus and out of order. Shit like Rocko’s Modern Life not making it on there but things like The Powerpuff Girls and Animaniacs do? Come on now.

powerpuff is one of the only shows made really wit girls in mind. u had to have known itd be there.

Their friendship hit that rough patch when Daria sorta stole her friend’s boyfriend, not for dating her friend’s brother.

I looked at the top 10 and the only show I agree with being there are South Park and Batman.

And apparently “best” is synonymous with “longest running” to them.

Avatar not being in the top 5 is stupid.

ahhhh ok. that makes more sense.

This list is full of filler otherwise a lot of shows that should be on here would be. Shows that got the boot and deserved better are

Doug
Rocko’s Modern Life

Gummibears
FLCL (I mean wtf Eva and Bebop made it)
Garfield and Friends
Heathcliff (Garfield and Fat Albert ripoff but it was still good)
Megas XLR (Come on! Come on! They put up Cn’s entire lineup and left this off?)
Beast Wars (you gotta be fuckin’ kiddin’ me on this one)
Heckyl and Jeckyl (racism at it’s finest)

I can’t really think of any others right now, but I’m sure these are interchangeable with some of the shit that made it on.

Perhaps. Politics isn’t a good reason to put it on the list though.

wow this list sucks, just like every other ign list

Eh, I think Powerpuff Girls is worthy enough based on quality alone.

And hell, if IGN can put fucking Foster’s Home on there, Powerpuff Girls at least needs to be.

agree with people that mentioned Daria and Rocko’s Modern Life. I can see how Daria can be a controversial pick but Rocko’s Modern Life shits on nearly all of those shows for free.

personally i thought it was a good show…hella violent for the age group and gender they were gearing it towards. come on…how can u hate on MOOOOOJO JOJO
