IGN.com's top 100 animated series

…the fuck?! Gargoyles should EASILY have made top 10, if not top 5. This list is bullshizz.

where was the original ghostbusters on the list?

so finally got around to d/ling the first season of The Spectacular Spider-Man.

It’s THAT good.

transformers should have been top 10 along with thunder cats and TMNT

TMNT is way to low, that is top 10 easy. DWD is to low as well.

that list takes me back to my childhood. good stuff.

Too bad ‘Boinic Six’ never made the list, that show was a favorite of mines.

Intro animation was godly. That shit must’ve permanently crippled at least 30 koreans…

i was gunna be pissed if TAS wasnt up there

im absolutely appalled that ren and stimpy is so high…

this list seems so random. it really feels as if they pulled random names out of a hat, and just let loose.

plus, there was like… 0 guidelines. obviously its stuff that aired on american tv, but having japanese animation on there? seems kinda shitty. there are plenty of better anime out there, but don’t get tv airings. evangelion? fuck that shit. thundercats are way too high, especially for a series that didn’t age well at all. it seems like they preferred longevitiy, but eva and tick made top 10? maxx over transformers? the critic at 26? that shit only had 2 seasons, and only one of them was any good. no exo squad? no DOUG? get the fuck out.

Why is there no Fist of the North Star!?

And yes Exo squad was some heavy shit. One of the first shows i saw where prominent characters were actually KILLED. I seriously would sacrifice a first-born for this series to pick up where it left off. okay maybe not first-born. my friend’s first born?

no hey arnold
no rocko’s modern life

!! IMHO !! i think cowboy bebop should be top 5. 26 episode of pure stlye. think about it the show itself is truely amazing. Awesome art, awesome concept, awesome characters, awesome american voiceovers(That doesnt happen to often) awesome music, awesome refrences and hidden stuff, Actually was funny, AWESOME FIGHTING cmon srk! the show itself was so groundbreaking becasue of the impact it had and in such a short time. consider what it would be if it had kept going and deep inside i hope one day they bring it baack(though they never will) myb i’m a fanboy to a fault but i really dont care the show is awesome.

lol edit: i used awesome one toooo many times

You can say no this and that or x deserved to be higher than y, but it’s all opinion. I loved TMNT, but my brother is four years older than me and he wouldn’t even notice if it wasn’t included, but you can guarantee he’d notice that Centurions isn’t on the list.

No Bravestarr is a joke though.

“Strength of the BEAR, Bear, bear!”

muppet babies…
dragonballz?

Honestly dbz should be top 10. EVERYONE has seen dbz.

More commentary to be added later if I feel like it…but this jumps out at me immediately:

Bull. Ass. Shit. Scooby Doo shouldn’t be above a gotdamn thing but the trash can. It had cool theme songs, and that was it. It’s ranked right above Robot Chicken and THE CRITIC?! You cannot be serious. ONE episode of The Critic is 1000x more funny/entertaining than anything that ever happened across all Scooby Doo shows/movies. Everyone reaches a certain point while growing up…where they realize that Scooby’s show was actually terrible. We only liked it during childhood because little kids often have incredibly bad taste. The show doesn’t even have nostalgia-factor on its side like other things, because it’s never been off the goddamn air!

…and King of the Hill needs to get the hell out. How did that disaster make top 30?

Yeah, more commentary later. It’s always fun to bring The Hate? when a top 100 list of anything is posted…

^Nigga please. The new “Spectacular” Spiderman makes the very existence of the old '90s version pointless, irrelevant, obsolete, dookey, etc. etc. It simply cannot compare to the Spectacular in any way. Spectacular kicks the old show’s ass in animation and overall visual presentation, story, character-accuracy, fight scenes, and even the intro song.

Still can’t believe evangelion is that high. That anime was boring as hell.

Amazing Spiderman was good for it’s time, and actually developed cohesive story arcs that were faithful to the comic heritage. So unless you hate the campyness of superheros wearing spandex and jumping around in general, I don’t see what’s to hate about 90s Spidey.

And yes, the newest Spiderman is “Spectacular.”

Yeah, it’s not much of a fair comparison I guess in terms of the visuals. Also, the character accuracy I was thinking of was something more specific–> Spiderman himself. Compared to the Spectacular version, '90s Spidey moved like a guy that was mid-40s and in moderately good shape for his age. Thanks to the movie influence, he’s now shown as agile and fast as he should’ve been in the first place, considering his powers. He’s also just more of an interesting character on this new show. Nothing really stood out about him as interesting on the old one, other than the fact that he was the star of the show, so you’re forced to care about what he’s doing anyway.

'90s Spidey was also hindered by some harsh censorship guidelines(*did anyone ever even get punched in the face on that?), while Spectacular surprises you with what they can get away with despite also being handicapped by Saturday Morning Show Syndrome.

If both shows happened to be on at the same time, I’d choose Spectacular every time. The good thing I will say about the older show is that at least it wasn’t that later atrocity that was called “Unlimited” or something. It was difficult to care about anything going on in that era, and the art style took a huge hit in quality…those characters were ugly as hell. Really, it was like the Nicktoons Edition Spiderman…we’re talking serious ugliness, folks.

It’s quite shallow, but I can’t really help it…the overall visual presentation of a show is very important to me. If it looks as appealing as moldy cheese with a side of grey turds on a plate, the show instantly has quite an uphill battle to gain my favor.(*ooh, examples of ugliness, just because Hate? is fun: Mike Lu and Og, Hey Arnold!, Spider Riders(which has been forgotten already, I’m sure), Ravemaster, earlier Beavis & Butthead<<though it still managed to be hilarious, and the style worked with the humor>> Rugrats, etc…Baby Dill is so damn disgusting. I could understand a dad running away or at least becoming severely depressed if his son was born looking like that.)

i don’t understand how original Transformers is on this list and Beast Wars isn’t. Maybe it’s just some bias against Mainframe or something.

G1 on the list at all is a crime. I’m sorry but G1 is a fucking terrible cartoon. I understand it was the shit back then but if you looka tht show it just fucking sucks. Beast Wars is just way better.
