If you hate on Viscant for picking Phoenix, you're a scrub

This is all I’m trying to say. Once again, I dislike the character. It wasn’t flawed balance, it was simply an evolution of the typical fighting game. Every fighting game must go through the derpy character phase before players and characters get weeded out for more of a technical, super high level atmosphere.

Either way, the forced changes balanced the character out to what it should be, I guess… maybe a little bit too hard a nerf. I would have liked to see how DP would work in UMvC3 however.

@Viscant: Happy to say that I was wrong on a few fronts with how you character picked for Combofiend. Is actually true what you said for him and Clock running sets… I seem to remember them running endless sets before Evo and afterwards at various times. I still wish you went in with DP and tried again, but I can see your logic in character picking now.

And yeah, goes back to what I said earlier about Stream Monsters-- Today You’re the Hero, Tomorrow you’re a Villlain. But fuck if it ain’t fun to troll on there sometimes to make your day.

As far as Phoenix goes, I’ve always felt that it was the L3 XFactor that made her the beast she is. I mean yeah, she can still hurt you normally, but the fact that her life drain is negated (as well as her attack power going sky high) does a lot to make her more OP than she would be without it. Heck, if the life drain stayed intact during her XF, it’d go a long way in making running away from her more productive, as she’s on a stricter clock.

LOL, might as well go for team DMC (Vergil, Dante, Trish) while you’re at it. You don;t have to, but I think experimenting with that team will be interesting, especially after Trsih got some buffs and Dante got weak, so I guess he really does cry harder now.

The best anti-phoenix tech imo is fight the bitch if you have to snap is overrated, yes overrated depending on your team your should either fight phoenix/dark or xfactor kill 1 or 2 character at that time she will most likely have 2 or 3 bar, people fail to realize phoenix is an handicap on most teams. if you build a solid team you shouldn’t have a problem but she will win once in awhile.

OK now I’m laughin’. It a full moon out or something tonight?

Can we just ban Phoenix just like how SoCal banned PTX-40a?

Yeah that would be an interesting team. If I were to do a team like that it would probably be Trish first with Jam session assist to lame out and build meter for Dante and Vergil 2nd and 3rd respectively. I just don’t like Trish enough to care. X-23 is my lil baby wolverine ibuki girl so I have to stay with her. LOL. I want my new secondary team to consist of ALL NEW characters so I’m going to find a way to make the 3 I like work well.

Actually now that I think about it…if Vergil’s rapid slash assist is good enough for X-23’s left right shit then Dante/X-23/Vergil might end up working reallly well. LOL. Nah…I like Doom too much though and that beam allows X-23 to actually zone and cover space in a way she can’t normally with other assists. Plus XF sphere flame after X-23 super is so good for instant kills.

Keep laughing  my team beat phoenix or dark phoenix example of team that beat phoenix before 5 bar are combofiend, marlinpie, noel brown etc.

Looks like someone needs to do something about this then.

Fellas…:sunglasses:

lol, the problem when you’re facing viscant’s wesker/assist/phoenix team is that he’s going to steamroller you with Wesker or Phoenix unless you snap in phoenix and kill her successfully and successfully beat Wesker. Phoenix is never the only problem on Phoenix teams, even the ones with Morrigan meter assist.

Slightly off topic but am I the only one that finds stream chat absolutely hilarious? I love all the stupid puns, thinly-veiled trolling, Floeface spam when he is playing, etc. The chat is more entertaining than the matches sometimes.

I do have an immature sense of humor though.

Stream chat is stupid. I always close it now

Stream chat is absolutely hilarious, but should not be taken seriously at all. The only people taking it serious are young, 13~22 year old nobodies that will never play on the tournament level, and ready to troll anyone and everyone for a laugh or a rise in someone else.

Everyone’s a fraud, everyone’s a villiain, everyone blown the fuck up, toss a few tables, make fun of Art, or Min, Sp00ks, or whoever, use PJSalt emote a number of times, watch some good matches, SPAM IN ALL CAPS FOR EVERYTHING, get set free by Sp00ks, call it a day.

When it’s annoying for SSF4, I do turn it off however, since it’s more technical. Stream Monstering is simply made for Mahvel, in my honest opinion.

That FloEface shit makes me roll for days everytime. Shit is too funny.

Fortunately enough, there’s a team that tackles allllllll those problems.

Viper/Magneto/Dante

-Get in a random Seismo hit
-Snap out point character
-Call Jam Session on Phoenix
-Charge Focus Attack
-Phoenix = Free kill

And the rest of the match is all downhill for your opponent from there. :sunglasses:

Viper is just not a very stable character at the moment. Case in point is the amount of times FChamp takes Starbase compared to KBeast and Chrisis.

She’s more than stable. Players just have to get better. Once that happens, characters like Viper will be taking tournaments, and everyone will be all, “Who’re Jean and Logan?” These characters are dominant simply because the game is young, and people are content to play them. Down the line, I wouldn’t be surprised if these types of characters (Even Vergil, who looks kind of EZ mode) end up having a very small playerbase through development of MvC3’s metagame.

Does “at the moment” mean something besides what I think it means?

I was excited to watch Chrisis in top 8, and I’m glad he made top 8, but it seemed like he couldn’t get his Viper to utilize her good tools. That’s what I’m talking about, she isn’t stable at the moment. FChamp vs KBeast ft 50? I heard Kbeast was up but fizzled out at the end. You guys cannot just discount how a long tournament or an intense environment can screw with the efficiency of a character like Viper in Marvel.

@starbase… I think viper has only won maybe once or twice …? Honzo winning doesn’t say Viper is stable either.

As I said, Viper is more than stable. *The players *are not.

This is a weird thread. I feel like I was just time-warped back to the end of EVO.
