I have nothing against Viscant, although I will say that if he didn’t use the most overpowered, braindead character in the game coupled up with the most overpowered, stoopid assist in the game (Apart from Tron) coupled with one of the easiest to play S tier character, he probably wouldn’t have done so well in general lol.
Although I realized Wolv/Akuma is crazy too, but Phoenix is more derp than Wolvie, and invincible assists are more derp than Akuma. :D!
You guys really need to start quoting I never know if someones replying >> and I was playing around lol. My original post had everything I said without the luck part, although even the top EVO contenders say theres a decent amount of luck involved in this game, but ignore that part\
Oh just to note I think Viscant is an amazing player, don’t get me wrong. Although I do feel Combo/Jwong are the better players for example.
Luck is involved in any fighting game, it’s just due to the unseeable mix up/TOD nature of MVC3…luck is more so involved than in other fighters. The game will become more solid overall in Ultimate as long as people aren’t dying in one combo all over the place anymore.
Just to note again it was mostly a joke, he’s an amazing player + a Veteran I know he aint no scrub lol. And yea DJ that’s what I meant, I know every fighter has some sort of luck involved but its mammmahahhhvel,. Although Imo the hagger/tron assist + Phoenix makes the player look so much better then they really are. Of course you still gotta play well but damn. Oh and yea Noah. lol. Although I dont think he’s bad
It’s hard for me to believe the game is more luck based when MvC3 has more consistency in who shows up at the top than SF4.
Even a rusty Ryry shows up and does well. These players have a skill in this game, it isn’t being “lucky”, it’s an absurd quickness to recognize situations and make the right choice.
Yeah…it doesn’t really matter how much “luck” is involved when it comes to the best players any ways. The best players have the reactions, strong enough teams and protect themselves well enough where it’s not as easy for them to get randomed in a 2/3 match. The power of Dark Phoenix in the middle of the screen…Combofiend really should have no business killing off XF3 Dark Phoenixes like he’s fighting a regular character but he has the skillset to do it.
It’s just below that level of play a lot of it can be based on what your opponent doesn’t know how to space themselves against. Especially when any random hit can be converted to TOD which is what a lot of Noel Brown’s play style is based around. If he just gets in and lands that first hit with Wolvie…it doesn’t matter how good of a play you are you’re now down one character and might be down 2.
I love this thread, but it should have really been posted a day or two after Evo2k11 when Viscant won where it matters in the FGC.
Anyways, Viscant should have stuck to his guns and rode Phoenix out, because it’s really all he knows apart from Wesker. Happy to see that people are actually getting better with anti-Phoenix technology instead of complaining as well.
the last page of this discussion ties directly into the ‘marvel should be 3/5 instead of 2/3’ page.
The really big problem is getting blown up by something you’ve never seen before or aren’t used to (ala F.Champ at Devastation, or Jwong/Pr Rog at Evo)
OP is over thinking this, you see more comments about him being on meth than about his team.
Stream monsters just love to pop off about anything they can find: clothes, haircut, accent, ethnicity, weight, characters, play style, skill. I don’t know why you picked this particular thing out of the rancid mass of stream chat when there’s much more straightforwardly offensive material there.
I deleted my post since I didn’t wanna start crazyness about the game being inconsistent or not lol, but yea ^, it probably has something to do with the format and one hit is death + & due to it being incredibly hard to block certain things its not always hard for a random guy to get a hit in and 1 hit kill your first char.
For that reason I disagree with the consistency comment, I dont even wanna think about the peepz that got top 3 at one tournament, then didn’t even make top 16 two days later lol. (E.G Combo, and he’s an insanely skilled player) Or howmany good players loose to a average lvl Phoenix player due to how hard she is to deal with. But when it comes to ft10’s, yea the better player will most likely win (as with most FGs). But due to the above results can be inconsistent as fuzz
Yeah I talked to one top player about it and he said that it would probably be absolutely best to do first to 5. In the end he said the issue is that 3/5 ultimately only really helps lesser players and top players just do what it takes and keep their excuses to a minimum regardless of what’s thrown at them. Like basically top players will just feel like they have what it takes to win consistently whether it’s single match or FT10. They just take on all challenges and learn to adapt to them.
I still think 3/5 would be better for at least top 8 or just in general so newer players can have more time to play and get match wins in but, in the end the top players won’t really see too much of a difference in variance either way. The game will be less around one hit kills in UMVC3 any way (hopefully) so at that point you just have to play the game for what it is or play something else. Which I will be doing either or both depending on how I feel about things once it hits.
I’ll definitely make sure my topic gets out to a couple mods or something that haven’t already read it and see where it goes either way. Better than nothing.
Or get lucky with certain supers that will negate phoenix’s morph knock back and be able to 1 hit KO her (Spiderman, maybe Arthur?)
Viscant used his phoenix team and got demolished because people know about phoenix by now and should snap her in whenever you get the chance. He has a pretty good wesker but he should have stuck to haggar instead of using tron near the end as a meat shield to absorb hits and build meter.
the real question is, why is it when tokido uses phoenix, people praise him, but when american uses phoenix they are called frauds. Japanese nut riders. -__-
