I’m currently creating a fighter with no super moves, only ex moves and ways to manipulate special moves, like cancelling to another special move (which takes part of your EX meter).
-If two Ex moves of the same strength, you get a Nigga Moment. During the Nigga Moment, you mash buttons until the police show up and arrest both of you.
Stepping on the opponent’s Jordans makes the opponent automatically use X Factor.
-Every character can build super meter by sagging their pants lower and lower
-If someone screams World Star, both players go into Hyper mode.
-Use your Baby Momma as an assist to extend combo length.
Getting hit increases your Twitter Beef meter, which you can uses to do really damaging super moves.
I actually think about this a lot. Like, if I ever got into game development what kind of fighting game would I make. The important thing to me is to not create more of the same, but introduce something new to the genre. I don’t have specifics as far as characters and settings, but I figure a nice design goal would be to make it as punishing to predictability as possible.
I’d probably shy away from generic moves that you can just throw out there and instead concentrate on ridiculously powerful but situational tools (ie. an SRK type move would be invincible to air moves and lead to a full juggle on hit, but it wouldn’t hit grounded).
I’d try really hard to not have any option-selects and easy hit-confirms. No “safe” moves at all. Everything is negative on block and punishable with a full-damage combo (and combos would be easy enough to be effectively undroppable). Then I’d implement some kind of “you snooze you lose” mechanic to make defensive gameplay super dangerous. Maybe have super meters that are constantly increasing as long as the opponent is in neutral (disclaimer: I haven’t thought that idea through, it’s just a random example of the concept).
TLDR: The game I would create, if I ever had the chance, is one where players would have to make reads and commit to them. The winner is the one who can read his opponent while being unreadable to his opponent.
-Over the top anime style character designs with ridiculous weapons
-Announcer is Samuel Jackson and whenever you win, he says “WE HAVE A WIIINNNNAAAAAAAAAA!!!”
-Stage transitions
-One character would fight on a motorcycle, just sayin’
-Theme: Mythology
-Clash things like Injustice
-Soundtrack consisting mostly of punk rock and hip hop
-Would actually have a survival mode, unlike every Capcom game nowadays
-SC3 style “path choosing” arcade mode for each character
-MK9 style story mode
-Color edit mode like CVS2 and SFXT
-Players can customize the game’s menu and character select screen
Hey guys!, If you like fighting games, video game design, want some insight on game development, want to speak your mind, to throw up some ideas, to influence the game´s next steps, perhaps you want to donate your voice, come on! step in! -Have different warriors from different time periods
-Have some nonsensical story about aliens taking people from different eras to make them fight in a tournament
-Try to make it as realistic as possible but also arcade’ish, it’s not meant to be a simulation
-Fighting will revolve around managing a stamina meter, stamina meter would work a la Darksouls
-Weapons would be divided into categories (stabbing, slashing, cutting, blunt and so on)
I don’t know what else to add tbh, I just want another Bushido Blade
Limb-based 3D fighter with 8WR, traditional 2D fighter specials, combo focus prioritizing links and special cancels over juggles and 3s/SF4 throw system
