If you could make one change to the mechanics (no troll)

I think all these people saying they want X-Factor removed would only bitch more if it were actually removed.
Lets say your team is Wolverine, Akuma, Haggar. Wolverine gets taken out by Dante’s j.S leading into a 4,500 hit combo that kills Wolvie. Good luck doing ANYTHING without x-factor, this game is already very momentum based, removing x-factor would only cause it to be seriously just whoever kills the point character first wins!
With x-factor, at least when your Wolvie is killed with the j.S combo, then Akuma killed with an acid rain mixup right as he jumps in, you sort of have a chance with Haggar… I mean, Haggar with no assists vs Dante with two assists sounds pretty rough to me. Just a thought…
As for the thread, I’d probably change TAC’s… I don’t even understand their purpose, all they do is take away from the maximum potential of fun hahaha

change the fucking beginning of round mechanics… thats my biggest problem with the game. i dont care about xf or tac… throw into death from os or getting 2for1’d at the beginning of the round makes my blood boil cause i know its simply a guess that can lose entire games.

Two changes

  • X-factor nerfed to permanent level 1
  • TaC costs one bar to tag in your character, no guessing, meter-stealing or meter-gaining, ala TVC.

Either make TACs work like they did in TvC or get rid of them. It’s been my least favorite thing about the game since day 1.

Baroque would be worse than X-Factor in a game that doesn’t have a burst mechanic, and I don’t really want a burst mechanic in this game.

Probably. I Baroque wouldn’t go down well in Marvel, but it was better in TVC than X-Factor is in Marvel.

I can agree with that. Baroque + Mega Crash did make meter management silly in TvC though. The only time you ever used hypers in that game was when you needed a safe DHC out or could kill a character with it. It’s funny that MvC3 meter management is on the complete opposite end of the spectrum, in which the top tier can build more than enough to kill you in one go pretty easy.

I’m definitely happy to see that there’s a nerf to meter gain in UMvC3.

I’d remove the damage scaling limit on xfactor… fullscaled damage should be the same in xfactor as it is without it.

IMO Mega Crash had to exist due to Baroque being there. Being able to pull off combo damage that makes XF3 look jealous (and is somewhat re-usable) is insane, and Mega Crash countered that. I don’t think you could slide either one of those systems into MvC3 because there’d be no need, and it would clash with what we already have.

Nothing in this game irritates me as much as the TAC mechanic. X-factor is bad too but at least it kinda makes sense. TAC is just a stupid guessing game where the attacker has pretty much all the advantages. What makes it even more stupid is that there’s no way to react to it and the only way out of it is mashing S and a direction. This leads into stupid unintentional resets where the opponent drops the combo and then catches the startup of my j. S with something like a divekick or a super which might easily lead to a dead character. I’m glad to see they’ve apparently made it so that you can actually counter it on reaction. It might make the mechanic useless but I don’t mind, I’d just be glad to see it gone.

TAC counters should give the defender the air series like it did in pre-release MvC3 builds. Rapid c.L’s should be reserved for low damage characters like X-23 and Felicia, not characters like Wolverine and Magneto. Damage output is absurd and kills the game entirely. Back and forth battles are non-existent almost. The first two characters are usually x-factor/TOD fodder and then it becomes a battle of anchors if the two players both guess correctly on the entrance mixup.

I agree with remove TAC, 1000% would get rid of it. I would be fine if the counter to stop it was not completely random. Sure you can assume what they will do based on character choice but hell, its completely luck more than half the time you counter it.

Also, buff Shuma… they completely skipped over him and Jill for changes. “He drains meter on grab now!” ok… but did you address his falling points as a character in general? dint think so…

That or just get rid of Hsien-Ko. Its just not working Capcom haha.

Just get rid of the damage boost on X-Factor. Keep the Roman Cancel, chip negation and speed increase. This game just doesn’t need its characters to do any more damage than they already do, for any reason.

Was just talking to a friend about this. We agreed on these changes to actually make this game interesting at high level :

  1. Xfactor having all stat bonuses removed. It’s a universal cancel and it gives chip negation and faster healing of red life. Nothing more. It’s meant to be a mechanic that gives you a fighting chance. Not the steamrolling piece of shit it is now.

  2. Damage cut by 30-50% across the board. Make people work for their damage. No TOD’s without resets, an actual fun and interesting neutral game and an actual matchup of intelligence instead “Yay cr.L! I’ll take these two characters please ^_________^”

  3. TAC’s like I posted earlier, just return to the pre-release build where countering a TAC would give you the chance to finish the air series. Make the countering party unable to call both assists until after the knockdown to prevent TOD’s from this.

There ya go, an actually interesting game instead of the random piece of shit it’s slowly turning into right now.

We can add another for remove/Change TAC

Possible Changes -
Make it Punishable on Break(already easier to break supposedly)
Remove meter gain/loss and instead make that shit cost at LEAST 75% of a meter(like vipers EX’s).

1)Raw Tags shouldn’t hit high
2)Remove TAC entirely
3)Reduce throw range
4)Reduce Meter Gain rate

again, making TAC combo punishable and cost a lot of meter is a massive overnerf.

That’s why I say take it out entirely. If they balanced it out it’s worthless, and if they don’t its stupid (stupid =/= OP). So they should just dump the whole mechanic in the trash.

posted it in the other thread, but I think there are 3 easy non-remove fixes to TAC (I might be prejudiced tho, don’t really get why it gets that much hate)

  1. Make it cost a bar of meter, uncounterable, no other benefits
  2. Make it exactly the same as now but no bonuses for doing it aside from the tag
  3. Make it exactly the same as now except you can get a high damage punish off of a successful counter.

TACs and OS throws have already been mentioned.

Mine would be adding hard knockdowns to the ‘once per combo’ limitation that wall bounces and ground bounces already have.
