If They Ask Where You Went...Say Skyrim

I found it in a random vendor as a spell tome. Its an apprentice level illusion spell where you throw a green orb at an ally and it increases their health and they won’t flee from battle for a minute.

I saw some reviews on this game everyone says its cool. Should I get it? It’s not a MMO right?

I never played an elder scrolls game, but I’ve played some rpg games that I’ve liked like FF series, PSO. I’m kind of on the fence about it.

Well there’s JRPGs and theres…everything else RPGs. It is an RPG which means you manage stats and stuff, but its not a crazy linear storyline like the Final Fantasy series and you don’t have a party (for the most part). Its more action oriented than other RPGs. Which means you’ll have to think on the spot instead of pausing every attack. Its not an MMO but I highly recommend it so much to do.

So I got this yesterday, finally. And I played through the main quest until you get the golden claw, and I’m thinking, “this is hard as hell”. I couldn’t actually get through the dungeon containing the Draugr, who were giving me a TON of trouble. I asked one of my flatmates how he managed it, and he said "I dunno, I chose a Nord [I chose Wood Elf], maybe that’s why."
Feeling a bit pissed off, I decided to look at the difficulty.

It’s on Master. For no reason.

Even the highest difficulty is not that hard mate. Bows are indispensable at lower levels. Sneak + bows do twice the damage and you can usually fire off two before they come close enough (and which you can switch to your weapon), also the poison you pick up can be added to the bow to get extra damage on the initial hit. Shields are great too and will save your life multiple times (shield push stuns the opponent so you can run away or strike, uses up stamina though). Companions are also everywhere, you can even hire mercenaries for only $500 gold. I think Silver swords do extra damage to undead so you can pack those before you visit a tomb.

I didn’t realize I was playing on highest difficulty too. lol. Normal difficulty is no fun once you reach level 40 and your companion does all the work. 95 bow base damage + bonuses from enchanted ring/gauntlet + poison + ebony arrows kills a green dragon in like 5 shots.

It depends on how you play. For example I forced myself to play a 2H Warrior on my Master playthrough (still on it currently level 37) its how I prefer to play, with 2H weapons and let me tell you not being able to block quickly and losing your stamina quickly is really a challenge. Espicially since your damage isn’t too great in the beginning.

If you have light armor you should be able to sneake attack most of them. I didn’t even realize I was walking past them until I ranked up. that and a few of them you can pull or just one shot with hunting/ancient bow.

Yes, but the difficulty was on the hardest, for no reason. So I would have struggled anyways!

Wood Elf Thief
I play after I work out, and with no energy to play the real game just run around whiterun stealing and pickpocketing lol. Seems a really, really easy way to level, since I havent met the grey beards and am lvl 21. I have done a couple dungeons but that’s it. Out of nowhere I found a +25% lockpicking gauntlet on a random bandit :D, leveling progress skyrockets

Funny momments in mammoth history…

  1. Woodelf charm animal a mammoth and it rapes the first bandits trying to attack me I meet in horrible fashion
  2. Stray arrow hits a mammoth that lights it on fire, and a flamming mammoth then commences to kill the bandit that fired it, and another 6-7 bandits covering the temple. laugh.

I got Mammoths to kill their giants with the animal Friend shout…good times…good times.

Man, that better females mod is too ‘glam’ for me. The makeup, the smooth face. no thanks. i had to uninstall it.

i’ve got a lot of other tweaking mods that are good though

Quick question: When you install a game (360), do you have to load the save from the same place the game is installed to get the benefit? I’m asking because I have Skyrim installed to a flashdrive but I load the save from my harddrive. The load times are still really long but, the disc doesn’t spin… Confused o.O.

I can’t believe what Astrid did! Fucking bitch!

A couple of my buddys were over here a few nights ago and one of them wanted me to show the other Skyrim. So I said ok and the one that wanted me to show it said to go find a dragon. So I fast traveled to some little camp where one of those dragon map markers was close to. I started heading for the map marker and next thing I know a damn Bandit is attacking me. I turn around to fight him and then all of the sudden a dragon drops down right on top of me. We were all like “oh shit” and I moved away from the dragon as it was intent on killing the puny Bandit. I move to strike the dragon with my puny dagger when I notice I just took huge damage. I look behind me and there is a bear trying to eat me. So I fuckin’ take off towards the camp where goodly soldiers are at hoping for some help. Of course when I get there they are all engaged with bandits. Then another fucking dragon drops out of the sky right in front of me. I cant fight this dragon with a bear trying to eat me and another dragon thats gonna be mad that I slashed him with my dagger. I need help. Dun dun dun a fucking horse comes to my rescue and starts battling the dragon. Then the bear ate me…

I’m surprised at how entertaining and simultaneously frustrating this game is. I ended up losing track of time and played 'til 4:30 in the morning without even realizing it was that late. Except half the time I stay up late playing this game, it’s because I get stuck in some ridiculous boss fight. I had to fight the Silver Hand leader to get their stratagem booklet, and I must have died like 10-15 times. I only managed to beat the guy by first summoning an autrochs, the putting him in lockdown with the ice freeze shout, then paralysis potions, then doing continuous stamina power attacks, hoping that I whittled his HP down enough before he could get up and smash my freaking face in.

I mean, the game is good, but it definitely has its frustrating moments. The number of random deaths I’ve encountered from arbitrary assassins and bears and spiders is just hilarious.

I should roll a new character to feel weak again, makes the game more enjoyable. My current character is 71 and OP. One shots most things in the game. On the other hand, I don’t want to suffer through all the quest bugs a second time so I think I’ll just level every skill to 100 until the mod kit is out and the unofficial Skyrim patch is released.

yeah, as much as I hated auto levelling badass enemies, i also hate fighting some super high ranked archer/mage/whatever and not knowing wtf they are until they’ve hit me and killed me in one shot. Then reloading and hiding like a bitch from that fight

I love that I can more than handle a Dragon or two at the same time. But damn the econd or a bear or a sabrecat shows up it’s GG.

Word, I do think that its silly to be able to fight a dragon toe-to-toe and win but if you try to go toe-to-toe with a bear or sabrecat you will get wrecked. Like in the story above. I bet I could have handled all those bandits and both dragons had it not been for that fucking bear. The first time that bear hit me I was almost dead, just a sliver of life.

playing a female Dark Elf thief now for the hell of it and since my battlemage Imperial is pretty OP. I’m enjoying the sneaking playstyle a hell of a lot more. easily the most immersive and tactic-oriented playstyle in the game. yeah running in and blowing shit up is also fun but if you play sneak, you actually have to take the time and appreciate Bethesda’s dungeon design even though it seems like more of the same each time. they’re surprisingly clever. like a random fallen pillar isn’t just there for decoration, but to block this high-leveled mage’s line of sight so you hide behind it and chuck arrows at a distance while sneaking.

I also don’t see the need for followers anymore since anyone but a rogue type will fuck up my stealth anyway. so no more followers sworn to carry my burdens for quite some time. D:
