If They Ask Where You Went...Say Skyrim

No. It made mine worse.

90 plus hours in and still no platinum. Hopefully I’ll finish the game next week. It’s way better then Oblivion which was awesome. I don’t think I’ve played a game that wasn’t an MMO for this long since I was a teenager.

Farkas isn’t doing shit as well. They are all buggy.

You can jump in to it. Your favourite Elder Scrolls game will most likely be your first, learning about all of the magic, exploring the world, experiencing the guilds and everything else the game has to offer is a unique feeling that you dont really get when you play your 2nd or 3rd Elder Scrolls game. Its in no way similar to Final Fantasy. Its a single player game, in all honesty that is where the comparisons end in my opinion. It is a great game tho, there are tonnes of side quests you can pick up from talking to people, tonnes of faction quests and a decent main quest. If you get in to this game, it could last you more than a couple of hundred hours for a single playthrough. If you like it but dont want to spend so much time on it, you can spend 20 or so hours and complete the main quest.

You can play it in very different ways. You can go through the whole game with swordplay, ranged with bows, magic, a mix, 2 handed weapons, weapon and shield, weapon and magic. You can sneak everywhere and pickpocket, break in to houses. Cause destruction everywhere you go, or not. The best thing about Elder Scrolls games is that they dont confine you to play a certain way like a lot of other single player games do. You can spend 200 hours, playing a very different way every 25 hours through that.

I just had a series of weird occurrences on my way to Mount Anthor to fight the Dragon there…

First, I’m walking by a couple of Giants and a Mammoth when a group of Bandits come out of nowhere and start attacking me. The Giants turn on them and end up accidentally launching my follower where I thought was half-way to hell. I wanted revenge so, I decided to go on a suicide mission by going after them all with my Dual-Wielded Flames. Right before a Giant sends me on my way, he gets smacked in the face by a Fireball. I turn around and my follower, who I thought was dead, is standing on top of a small hill raining arrows on everyone o_O. Keep in mind, I haven’t stopped firing the whole time. I look at my Magicka and the bar isn’t even there. So, I go on to kill them and the dragon with Unlimited Magicka… Weird.

Damn, that fight story sounds like something told in a Nord war fest hall over goblets upon goblets of mead.

There’s a decent amount of backstory if you’re into that sort of thing but it’s in no way necessary and you can easily just jump in. Second question, yes. The game is a complete sandbox and you can do whatever, whenever. You can easily play for hours and not even touch the main questline. And yes Skyrim is quite different then Final Fantasy but that’s a good thin in this case. If you get it you won’t be disappointed but if you can get the PC version do it since Skyrim has an insane mod community offering patches, fixes, new quests, weapons, etc.

yeah i like to imagine my character going around sharing war stories in sovngarde

And whatever faults Elder Scrolls games have, no one can say they don’t give you value for money. None of this 10 hour single player game nonsense. easily 80+ hours for a single playthrough

So are all the Companions useless in this game? I haven’t messed around with any of them til recently, since I never used any in Oblivion and having a bro team felt more like a Fallout thing to me. I had Lydia accompany me on the long ass journey from Whiterun up to Dawnstar though.

Lemme tell me bout this trick. Bitch died in I think every single battle we had. Ice wraithes. Bitch dead. Snow bear. Bitch dead. Bandits that I didn’t know were Bandits cuz how the fuck can you tell people apart. Bitch dead. Other snow bear. YOU BEST believe that bitch dead. She pretty much only served the purpose of soaking up some damage for me, and distracting an enemy for a lil bit so I could hit it from behind.

I haven’t tried giving her better armor/weapons yet, but I don’t know if you can even equip them with things or if it’ll go the Fallout route of fuckin, finicky ‘they’ll equip what they want’ type shabazz.

I don’t get why everyone has such trouble with followers. Mine always chill like 50 feet behind me and shoot arrows.

Phantom Angel - I’ve had the unlimited magika shit happen to me. It happened while I was fighting some dragon. It lasted a while too.

you should try. I hear better armor rating = you die less.

I hear there’s some bug with the leveling of your followers. like the reason that one follower that you encounter later on would be stronger than your Lydia for example is because their level is set the first time you encounter them. I don’t know if it’s legit but in any case I’ve not had Lydia die at all since I regularly updated her armor and used Healing Hands whenever necssary. just ditched her because I was tired of that smartass “I am SWOOOOORN to carry your burdens” line. I used Aela for a while but she wouldn’t equip the Daedric bow I gave her in battle so I used Argis (housecarl from Markarth). still prefer a female warrior follower though just cause I got accustomed to Lydia following me around so now I’m using Jordis (housecarl from Solitude). never had any of the aforementioned followers die at all since by then my Smithing skill was already in the 90s and their armor (as well as mine) was pretty OP. Argis and Jordis were taking attacks from Elder dragons like a champ.

most, if not, all followers equip any armor you give them, btw. got Daedric on my char and working on getting Dragonplate (lol DA: O) for Jordis. I’m running a Battlemage setup so I don’t really need spells much aside from Fast Healing to heal HP + stamina

Man so glad I did Thieves Guild first, it makes doing Dark Brotherhood a breeze.

Nightingale Armor makes you looking a freaking Sith Lord, moreso with lightning spells. one of my favorite armors in the game even though I use primarily Heavy Armor 'cause of dat Daedric.

So far I have lucked out in the order I have done things. I did Companion first then Thieves and now Brotherhood, and the first has made the second easier etc etc.

Finished rebuilding the crown with the 24 gems.

Rich as fuck now, damn near every container has a gem waiting for me. Took a while, but worth it.

Cmobat is still shit though, an no their is no excuse for it anymore despite how good everything else is.

thats the one thing that bugs me about skyrim. With the all the earthtone peasant clothing everyone wears its so hard to tell people apart. Oops, that was a guard. I am doomed

Understatement of the year.

Bethesda has to have like, a literal library of just documents containing lore of the elder scrolls universe.

You could probably take a full length college course on the entire subject and be challenged.

Worst thing about skyrim by far is the faction quests. Everything was bigger in oblivion. Thieves guild final quest was amazing. Dark brotherhood assassinations always had interesting ways to kill the person for bonuses. Skyrim just felt like fetch quests with a bit of story an dragons to dress it up, aside from the main quest.
