If They Ask Where You Went...Say Skyrim

PC. I have had next to no glitches (I had one dude who teleported like 20 feet to sit in a chair, thats about it), the game looks like perfect tits, and the mod community will come into full effect soon (hopefully we can get members posting some of the good mods, when they get released).

It’s not like it’s got Multiplayer, so you’d need it on console to play with friends. If you PC can run it, it SHOULD run it.

I got Oblivion when the GOTY edition was released. I also got some of the popular mods that helped me get into the game more. I’ll probably end up doing the same with Skyrim as well (that, or if the price drops considerably somewhere).

EDIT: Getting the PC version should be a no-brainer. If your PC has the specs, there’s no reason not to get that version.

Honestly, I think Skyrim is worth the full price so far. It’s crazy, I know. First time I’ve said that about a Bethesda game. I will be getting the GOTY edition as well though.

Wait, whoa, hang on…what? How?

EDIT: I misread that. I thought you were saying, “It doesn’t have multiplayer, so you will need to use the in-game console in order to be able to play with friends.”

Here is a cool mod for the map. http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=145

Here is a video of what it looks like in action - http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/16/skyrim-mod-adds-street-view-like-map-functionality/

Also, here is a link to Skyrim Nexus so ya’ll can keep an eye out for mods. If you find any cool ones be sure to post them.

Edit - I tried that map mod thing but its more of a tweak to the .ini file than a mod. Anyhow, that shit didnt work for me. Reading some of the comments it looks like it might be because the weather in the game is rainy and nasty so thats all I get to see on the map. Well, that and everything seems invisible till I zoom in almost to ground level.

Edit2 - Here is another map tweak. Same thing as the other one but I can see more than fog with this one. http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=272#content

Yeah the PC specs are low end so my comp should easly run this on max settings…just waiting on that SE too go down.

Well me and my garbage PC will are running it on 360 but even on the 360 uninstalled, the load time thing is overhyped and its STILL amazing… So if I’m getting only 80% of what you are getting on PC… this is still so crazy awesome it makes my head want to explode… so no matter how you get to play it… JUST PLAY IT.

If you cant tell, I really dont like the map in this game. Really, thats my only complaint about the game so far. You cant tell where roads are and shit so its hard to plot a course or just figuring out where exactly you’re at.

I wish the first map tweak I posted worked like it does in that video. For some reason thats the way I thought the map would be right from the get go. I tried to avoid videos of the game but what little I did watch gave me that impression. The way the map is now its only good for plotting the direction you want to go. Ok that marker is that way (north) so thats the way I’ll go.

I haven’t had any problems with the maps. Personally I like that I actually have to explore stuff to find where I have to go rather than having everything pointed out like it was in FO3 specifically. The roads and such are easy to find, even when you’re on the a mountain side as they have a different texture on them.

Ending of the Dark Brotherhood. So many Emotions.

I’ll just say, What an Honorable man.

I am currently on the Companions quest line I think I am on the last quest.
You get the option to turn into a motherfucking Werewolf that you can go into and out of whenever you want, the negative is you do not get the rest bonuses. Honestly I do not care about that as I almost never rest. I do not know if anything happens if you choose not to become a werewolf. I killed the fuck out of the Sacred Hand and all those witches in that cave.
Where is the thieves guild stuff in this game?

So I picked up this game along with UMVC3 yesterday… and Ihave one word to say…

Swag…

20,000 Septims Richer. Would anyone like to point me in a direction with this Cash? I’m in no rush for a house at the Minute. I’d like to “Invest” it somehow in either Skills. Or in a way that I can earn even more money back. If you get me?

enchanting + smithing is how you become a real baron in this game.

i need a wife so i can open my own shop.

I’ve made like 300k already. Shit is so cash. Need to buy the rest of the houses but some of the quests to help people out are bugged so I need to figure out how to complete those via console commands.

What’s the trick to earning gold without resorting to console cheating? Grind out smithing? Hopefully not, I don’t want to have to go into MMO mode with this game.

I’ve been playing RPGs for the last 20+ years but this is my first Elder Scrolls game and all have to say is HOLY HELL! This game is so incredible, but you guys already know that. I’m about 20 hours in and I just have one minor question so far. I’m playing on the 360 and for the life of me I can’t find out where to see how much time I’ve actually logged into this game. It’s a pretty standard feature in most RPGs but I can’t find it anywhere in the menus or stats.

Have you only played JRPGs?
Or stuff like Baldurs Gate and Neverwinter Nights too?

Few tips:
Learn soul trap or have a weapon with soul trap (I prefer the spell). You will find a lot of empty soul gems. These will be your friend whenever you aren’t using them to recharge your weapon (which is why going with the spell is better).
Buy leather strips + iron ore/iron ingot from NPC (or mine your own, which takes even longer) and craft iron daggers (takes 1 of each).
Enchant with absorb magicka (if not fire enchant or something that goes on weapon) with petty, lesser and common soul gems.
Sell to NPC.
You don’t have to do it right away as this WILL level the hell out of you. You can also do alchemy as the good potions will sell for more than the cost of the materials and stuff that boosts smithing/enchanting will make the price of the daggers go up the better they are.
So yes, this pretty much means going into MMO mode. The thing is, that at 100 smithing once you can craft dragon armor…that shit is just free money. Make armor, sell to all NPCs. From all the previous selling you will probably be near 50 speech as well, and can sell any item to any NPC with the perks (which you should have as they are super useful IMO), so you can just run around selling your stuff to NPCs and milking them dry. Rinse and repeat and you have lots o’ money.

With that said, time to get married. Who will be the lucky gal?

Load save screen. When you highlight a save it will tell you. I’m at 59 hours.
