If They Ask Where You Went...Say Skyrim

Skyrim on PC uses Steamworks, so you need Steam to activate it. The box you get really doesn’t do you any good except take up space, which is fine if that’s what you want the box for.

Got it, just wanna say Kudos to Bethesda for giving a really good intro to the game. I still can’t make a good character lol. Overall this game is good, I dislike steam but whatever this game is worth it, btw anyone know how to adjust graphical settings? Steam set the game to high settings and I wanna tinker with the shaders/shadows/etc so make it run better. Without people, I get almost 50 fps in the open world, in castles etc. I’m getting 60+ even with people. EDIT: Nvm, got it.

Holy Hell, the metacritic for this game is a 96.

ffs don’t post any spoilers

I’m 17 minutes away from starting my game and i’m sitting here waiting. playing half life 2 and starcraft to kill the time

If I found Oblivion and Fallout 3/NV really boring, would I find this game boring as well? Is it really similar to Oblivion? If it isn’t, I’ll definitely want to play it at some point.

 Bethesda polish.

Game has been rock solid on PC for me for the last 6 hours. Gorgeous too.

“Real niggas” have it on PC, the way it was meant to be played, and didn’t have to even leave their house to get it…

I know Ive been playing for too long. I just tried to wasd control this forum page…

Great game so far. No crashes/bugs/glitches on my PC, was really happy that I can max everything.

Its cool that people sometimes put contracts out on your life for stealing now rather than alert the authorities. Nice touch, I was confused at being attacked at first in town, but when I floored the contractors and looted them I found the contract.

PC is still the way it is meant to be played. Maxed out it does look a lot better than the console versions. I had both PS3 + PC versions here yesterday so could do a comparison. Textures, trees, buildings look a lot more detailed. Water effects, reflections, shadows, fog and wind gusts are miles ahead.

god i still haven’t beaten new vegas, or the morrowind expansion packs. or done any of the vanilla fo3 dlc.

Hold up. How does anybody say that Dragon Age 2 was an awesome game, then trash Skyrim as being the exact same game as its predecessor? For one, DA2 was HORRIBLE. You gotta be out of your mind to have liked it. Secondly, I only played Skyrim for an hour and I can already tell that this game is gonna enter into my Fav 5.

Let us not tarnish this thread by mentioning DA2 again.

I’ll be honest here, I never beat Fallout 3 or New Vegas or Oblivion. I spent a good 100 (or more) hours on each game though. Well, maybe more like 50 or 60 on New Vegas. I got my moneys worth and then some out of each game though. Exploring and doing side quests and shit is my favorite part of these games.

I didn’t have any crashing issues with the game last night at all. The only thing I noticed were a few minor graphical glitches. Being able to see through a portion of my character when in 3rd person mode, lighting would just pop from low to bright in some areas and a few texture pop ins. Nothing that would deter me from playing it though.

Soviet - you mean the PSN getting hacked or someones XBL account getting hacked? Or do you mean the Steam forums getting hacked? hehe sucka

I also want to add that 3rd person view has been greatly improved. It no longer looks like im floating along the ground, it actually looks like im running on it. I also like the fact that time doesn’t freeze when I talk to someone. Everyone is still going about their business and I can even look around a bit while talking to someone.

I’m crazy hype, my copy is coming from Gamefly today… Oh Lord my life is about to be over…

I think I finally beat Oblivion last year, and five 360’s later, and I picked it up at launch. It’s a hella hard game to get right back into, when your Xbox gets stolen and you gotta start from scratch again.

I picked up Skyrim for PC on my break. Laughed at some kids who got the collectors edition.

That box contains discs I can use to install the game on my buddies pc with the cd keys he has. I prefer physical copies of all my games. I fucking hate DRM’s and games that only work on specific consoles and shit like that. And yeah, I like displaying all my games/dvds/books

That’s odd, this doesn’t look like the Dark Souls thread.

Love this game. Only real gripe is the menus feel really clunky on the PC. They’re meant for console games. Why do I need to scroll through shit instead of being able to just click where I want to go?!

Oh, also, “favorites” menu in lieu of hotkeying I don’t much care for.

Dual wielding also seems like total ass, but I might just be doing it wrong.

Is it possible within the limits of the game’s chargen to have a female Dark or Wood elf that’s not ugly as sin? Seems all of the NPC ones I’ve met look like ass, and the few minutes I spent in the chargen with them also look like ass no matter what I changed.

The characters dont look all that bad to me compared to Oblivion and Fallout 3. The dark elf is ugly though and that’s what my character is.

The menu does feel a bit clunky, even using a controller, but I’ll get use to it im sure. I dont mind the favorites as it stops the action when you select a favorite. Its slower than the hotkeys but its not that bad.

Shields are normally very strong in these games. Running 2H axes myself and it seems like you need to invest heavily into 1H and 2H talents for no shield characters to be very effective.

This is also really minor, but it bugs me from an immersion angle. The game doesn’t have very good race recognition outside a few scripted inserts. i.e. Thalmor talking mad shit to the PC about how much better elves are than all the other races even if you’re playing an elf.
